Life As A Servant - Chapter 87
On the Western coast of M-Nation, formally known as the Republic of Korea, a small smuggler’s boat just reached a recently built hidden docks belonging to an infamous smuggling organization. Among the passengers, there was a girl that carried only a small red bag on her back. Compared to the ugly mugs who boarded the boat with her, she was charming and attractive, though her emotionless face and her piercing glare made everyone who had thoughts about to her flinch and cower in fear.
She disembarked and looked around for a long time, after ascertaining that no one was tailing her, she vanished from the area. Her feet were enveloped by a scarlet liquid, which boosted her speed, making her as fast a cheetah. Although, on the outside, she looked fine, the girl’s body was in a terrible state and most of it was covered in black, dead spots. In said spots, the nerves were dead, the blood circulation was slowed, if not stopped, and the muscles were in decline.
The girl ran for a few hours before stopping under a bridge to rest. She sat on a corner illuminated by the moon’s dim light and retrieved a paper from her backpack. Aside from some rations, there was only this paper, which she stole from a big outpost of the organization chasing after her.
This paper contained blood test results and informed her of a shocking thing. This revelation made her travel from Italy all the way here despite knowing how dangerous it is. It won’t take long before they track her here, however, she needed to come because her brother was in M-nation. The result told her about the existence of her twin brother, whom the organization is also looking for. Apparently, they still haven’t found him but were able to get some information about his appearance.
‘I need to find him before they do’
She coughed some blood while clutching her chest, her coughs soon turning into painful groans. By the morning, the corner she was sitting on was empty with only a pool of blood there.

Angelica excused herself after swiftly eating dinner. Bin just arrived but her subordinate urgently signaled her to come to the office so she had to leave.
“What is the matter?”
The woman dressed in full-black revealed herself and apologetically bowed.
“Master, I was discovered. I am sorry.”
Sensing a slight change in the woman’s voice, the madam creased her brow and asked again:
“Discovered? Explain properly.”
“He sensed my presence when I was following him”
She briefly recounted what happened but she omitted the part where Bin was undressing for obvious reasons. After listening to her subordinate, Angelica didn’t seem angry or worried, she gazed at the starry sky outside of the window, her mind drifting somewhere else.
Only after a long time did she snap out of her daze and stare back at the motionless black-clothed woman standing meters away.
“Well, it matters not. He won’t be suspicious of us and it’s not like we mean any harm. Did you find anything else about him?”
“His body is very sensitive to Mana but it’s very strange.”
“Strange?”
“Yes, master. It absorbs Mana at an alarming rate but at the same time, it’s repulsing it, causing the body to deteriorate. However, there are some artificially planted pumps that are helping him achieve some sort of temporary equilibrium.”
“Pumps? Were they made by Dr. Galen?”
“No, they have been planted very recently, after he became Miss’ servant. I think I have an idea of who did it.”
“Who?”
“It’s the little sister of Dr. Caulfort, Annie Caulfort.”
Angelica thought for a moment before speaking again: “Ann? That little girl did that?”
“Yes, her medical knowledge and talent aren’t known to the world but she doesn’t lack in comparison to her older sister. I’m still investigating how he managed to meet her and gain her favor.”

After making sure Rika was sleeping, Melissa left her room and entered her office, finding a man wearing glasses patiently waiting for her.
“Secretary Park, how did it go?”
She sat on the leather chair and listened to the secretary, who was tasked to do some investigation about Rika’s family.
“As you may know, her father is an assemblyman who’s regarded favorably by the public. Her mother owns a famous cosmetic company. From what I could gather, there seems to be no problem in their private life.”
“Basically, they’re a happy family.”
The secretary nodded his head and, out of habit, pushed back his glasses.
“Find out if anything strange happened in the house today.”
“Miss, I already did that. Apparently, the assemblyman was injured by a home-invader but the matter is being kept under tight wraps. Apart from a few house servants and guards, no one knows about this. Even the wife thinks it’s just an accident.”
for visiting.
“What about the CCTV?”
“There are none inside the house but the ones outside show Mr. Bin enter the manor at around 3:42PM and leave at 5:03PM along with Miss Rika.”
Seeing that Melissa said nothing, the secretary lightly coughed then resumed:
“The father, Haydon Parmalee, was rushed to Fortuna Hospital, where he’s being treated.”
“How’s his injuries?”
“A concussion, a broken nose, a cracked rib, and severely wounded mouth and left eye. He’ll recover but I doubt he’ll not retaliate.”
Melissa smiled and asked:
“Tell me, Secretary Park, you’re good at speculations. What do you think happened?”
“From all the found clues and known events, I think Mr. Bin was the one who attacked the assemblyman. There must have been some confrontation between the two, which, apparently, ended badly for the latter.
Mr. Bin was unscathed so it’s safe to assume that the fight was pretty much one-sided. As for the reason of the dispute, it’s probably domestic abuse.”
Hearing this, Melissa’s expression twisted, the pen that was held by her was stabbed into the desk, showcasing her anger.
“Domestic abuse, huh I think it’s something within those lines too. Prepare a car for me, I’m heading to Fortuna Hospital.”
“Miss the assemblyman is still unconscious.”
“It doesn’t matter. For the sake of his image, he won’t stay in the hospital for long after all, he doesn’t want to make this public. He won’t say it’s a thief who did that to him as it’s absurd that someone managed to sneak into an assemblyman’s house. He’ll cover everything and will, at most, leave the hospital tomorrow morning. He and I need to have a talk so I’ll wait for my dear friend’s father to wake up.”
