Life didn’t get easier, even in another world. - Chapter 344
344 Confess
Inside the headquarters of the continent’s strongest country’s biggest military organization, outside the main building, and in a relatively far location from any other facilities, a group of people wearing military and special operation uniforms were surrounding an all-black building that had been restored just recently.
Since early in the morning, this building, as well as its surroundings, like the cars parked in the vicinity, have been experiencing a strange phenomenon.
RUMMMBLEEEE
RUMMMBLEEEE
Just like how it had been for the past few hours, the whole place suddenly started to quake and shake. The tall and sturdy black walls shook and some dust and pebbles fell down from the ceiling. The shaking continued for a few seconds before it died down.
Only one second later, everything started to shake once again, this time it was more intense and it took more time for the shaking to die down. The agents that were standing still beside the all-black building sent worried glances at the building as if worried that it might collapse at any moment. Just when they were about to heave a sigh of relief, another shaking struck them, stronger than all the previous ones.
The building quaked so intensely that some strange noises rose from its sturdy walls. Dust rose to the air and even the agents lost their balance and fell to the ground. It wasn’t only the building that was shaking, the ground was quaking like it was a boat moving in the sea on a stormy night.
“Stop it, you bastard!”
Inside the building, a woman shouted at the top of her lungs as she barely held herself up by leaning on the walls. She glared furiously at a man on the other side of the huge room that she was in and shouted once again.
…..
“The building will collapse, no, it’s collapsing already! Stop it!”
The man on the other side of the wall didn’t respond, nor did he even glance at her. All he was focused on was shaking someone back and fro with all his might.
The man’s figure was bent forward. His long light-brown hair, which was usually neatly tied back loosely, was now disheveled. His eyes were bloodshot and his face was like a rampaging beast. His nails were dug into the flesh of the man he was holding from his arms and the veins on the back of his hand were bulging up more and more.
“Do you want more? Is it still not enough?”
As he shouted, purple-red electric currents danced on the brightly shining white stone on his clothes. The purple-red electric currents jumped on top of the stone for a few seconds before they started to move through the man’s body, jump around on his arm, and finally reach the thing that was placed on top of the prisoner’s head.
The crown on the white-haired man’s head shone for a second before it started to sizzle and let out vicious red currents. Red cracks filled the air and a crimson light burst out of the crown.
“Aaahhhh!”
The white-haired man let out a loud scream. His body trembled and his muscles tensed, blood burst out of his nose and the edge of his eyes and wet his white clothes.
At the same time, the ground shook once again. The whole building trembled as more and more cracks appeared on the walls.
“Stop that!”
“The building-”
“You can’t kill him! Aaron! Stop!”
The people’s voices and words were completely ignored. The white-haired man was screaming while the ‘interrogator’ was putting more and more pressure on his grip.
“AAAAhhhh- Gasp gasp…”
After screaming and panting for a few seconds, the white-haired prisoner managed to barely move his head and give a nod. As soon as he nodded his head, the currents eating away at his body vanished and the pressure on the hands around his arms was also reduced. The previous boss of the largest terrorist organization on the continent shivered and panted heavily for a few seconds before he could open his mouth and spit out a few words with difficulty.
“C.A.D… C.A.D project…”
The man took a few deep breaths in between each word. It was understandable once one looked at the condition of his body. He was barely kept alive after he was faced with the explosive rage of a certain man 10 months ago. His injuries were so severe that the doctors thought he might not make it, but he surprisingly survived. It was said that the thing that kept him alive was the mysterious power he had.
However, after he awoke from his months-long slumber, he could no longer use his powers. It was confirmed when he attempted to run away from the hospital. The man himself was unable to believe that he had lost his powers and attempted to summon his power, again and again, only to fail each time.
Was it because he had faced that strange white stone in his final battle that he lost his powers? Or was it an after-effect of using the crown, an ancient artifact, to the extreme? Or maybe he had used up all of his power in order to keep his body alive, and thus lost his power after he woke up…
No one knew the reason, but the result was rather satisfying. The frightening boss of Philomns was reduced to nothing but a weak ordinary person. However, that didn’t mean that they could take him lightly or not put enough importance on his security. The powerless man was still treated like a powerhouse and was restricted with the most advanced gadgets and spells.
And now, after everything had calmed down and after the man’s health was in a situation where he could speak and confess, it was time to make him talk about his plans, experiences, and about his goals. Also, about the way he got his hands on the mysterious power he was wielding.
“C-Compressed atypical… decomposition project… Huff… Do you… Do you remember where that… that building was?”
The white-haired man asked in a weak but provoking voice. A voice that was full of resentment and anger. He paused for a few seconds as if to give the people inside the room the time to think and remember what he was talking about.
The shaking of the ground had long stopped and the people inside the room, who were originally assigned to prevent the ‘interrogator’ from killing the white-haired boss of Philomns, were now standing with their postures straight. The deputy commander, team leader of unit 5, as well as a bunch of other high-ranked agents, were all standing as far away as they could from the light-brown-haired man and were listening to the confessions. Once those words were mentioned, they all thought about the same thing. A project that took place a long time ago.
“Compressed atypical decomposition project… Yeah… That’s what you bastards started… To create a war… to create weapons…”
The boss of Philomns shook his head as he let out a chuckle.
“That’s what you caused… a disaster… to the innocent… 50 years ago…”
