Life Of A Nobody - as a Villain - Chapter 342 Time to die
Chapter 342 Time to die
Inside the cave patterns all the students were desperately struggling against the raging monsters, the mutated corpses and the unrealistic creatures. Showing their all in the struggles to win the final points and get the chance to earn their prestige and secure their place for the dungeon entrance.
While many top rankers, who were already ahead of their peers, were focusing on eliminating their opponents and making sure more and more of their own classmates survive this battle, as everyone knew that higher numbers would be an advantage in the dungeon trial coming next.
Hundreds of young students rushing to fight against waves after waves of monsters made the scene look nothing short of spectacular.
“Avengers – assemble.”
Rio, who was watching everything while floating high in the sky, couldn’t help but whisper to himself as a chuckle came to his lips. This was the first large scale war type battle he had seen or been part of ever since coming to this world. It kinda pumped up his blood.
“What’s avengers?” Bernhardt asked as he appeared behind him in a flash, before disappearing again the next instant.
“You didn’t answer, what’s avengers?” He asked again, as he appeared on the other side of Rio, who just kept watching a large crow type monster flapping his left wing wildly as his dear friend was holding the other one in his hand.
“Nothing. Just finish the job will you?” Rio said, shaking his head and waving his sword. His simple movement was followed by a streak of golden light which shot straight towards the bird, cutting his other wing too.
They both watched and smirked as the fat black birdy fell onto some pitiful students’ head out of nowhere.
“You know, I already got more points than you. So does Lisa and Dahlia too. Are you planning to lose..” Bernhardt asked, staring at Rio’s wristband which counted points according to the monsters killed in these five days.
“I’m wearing white. I don’t wanna stain it with all the smelly blood and gooey remains of these monsters. I’ll just solve the Banshee and defeat you all in one swoop.” Rio replied nonchalantly, while removing the mana from his feet and falling down in the middle of the battle.
The monsters cornering a student below him, looked up and felt an increase in gravity on their shoulder. Feeling a pressure that cracked the ground below their feet and didn’t stop until all their bodies were turned to meat paste.
“Show off.”
Bernhardt looked down and scoffed as he saw Rio landing swiftly, as the blood of everyone on the ground looked like a perfect pretty blooming flower in the center of a warzone.
“Stop lazing around, will you?” Dahlia’s words came to his ears before a large fireball went past his ears making a sizzling sound of burning the air itself.
Bernhardt followed the ball of flame and watched as it disintegrated the vines of a large tree coming towards him.
The fight lasted for quite a while and the few rankers were finally able to cross the sea of monsters and reached the center stage. Where under the statue of Moloch, the figure of Banshee was still standing there with the same look. Like the fight and chaos all around her, didn’t affect her at all.
In one corner many dozens of students were thrown around randomly or knocked unconscious by some magic. Probably used as a sacrifice later on.
“She’s almost at A rank. We’ll only get eliminated if we fight her separately. So let’s attack her together.” Lisa said and those around her nodded their heads in approval.
As for those who overestimated themselves and wanted to fish in muddy waters and something, they were also pushed into the frey and forced to fall in line very soon too.
Cause just now they had all realized two things – one, they couldn’t get out of this cave without defeating the Banshee, as she set up a closing barrier. And second, the longer the fight drags on, the more they’ll lose.
Cause Rio had just started his massacre. Unlike the previous five days when he chose the gentle approach and didn’t act at all, now he was literally moving around the battlefield, killing students on sight. Even the ones of Zenith itself, weren’t safe, as they became a backdrop of his slaughter.
Every second you could hear the pings of elimination and students were teleporting out of this forest and back to the stage entrance. The crowd of monsters was backing away from his way as if afraid to get in the way of this ‘monster’.
Some rankers who wanted to fight him even ignored the Banshee, and turned to attack him, but knowing it would drag him down Rio would just ignore the battle and teleport away before continuing his twisted elimination spree.
In just five to ten minutes when all the strongest rankers fought to kill the Banshee, he had dropped the number of students in the cave patterns by nearly half.
It looked like a random killings he did to earn as many points as possible, but it wasn’t. He could see the moonstone in the sky was almost ready to teleport everyone out, and this way he dropped the extra baggage beforehand.
Now whoever was left was on his kill list, well most of them at least. Some casul casualties have to be there to confuse others.
Just when the ranker from Tristen academy, Marcel was about to land a frightening blow on the wounded Banshee, a silvery glow illuminated the cave.
Everyone looked up in surprise only to see a shadow of a full moon shining brightly through the open ceilings. The light was almost blinding and covering the whole cave.
“What the hell is that?”
“Is it her spell, some kind of final struggle?”
“No banshee’s can’t use light magic or anything similar. It’s _ this magic it’s definitely not her.”
“Did you notice the air’s getting cold with the light.”
“That’s not a new moon I’m looking at, right?”
“Shit, shit, shit, she’s healing. The Banshee’s healing.”
“Fuck, the monsters too.. What the hell is happening?”
“It’s some kind of artifact, not a moon. But didn’t the academy staff check everyone and took all these things first.”
“Then did_ did someone attack us at this time.”
“I know it’s these criminals. They must’ve done something.”
“Yeah, let’s kill them before whatever this is, attacks us first.”
“Group together. If you don’t want to get eliminated.”
“Fuck. Just when we were this close to ending this match too.”
“Why isn’t the academy staff coming here yet, is this a part of their tests too?”
All the students were thrown into a disarray with the changes happening in their surroundings. The sudden change in environment, the cries of Banshee that started calling back her fallen soldiers to fight again. The army of abominations which was dwindling under the pressure from students but suddenly started rioting.
The criminals who were just hoping to earn their freedom became the scapegoat and everyone’s target as they started getting killed left and right by frenzied students. Yes, getting killed, as these poor fellows didn’t have the teleportation mark of elimination. For them this was from the beginning a death game.
[Loki chuckles at the massacre that’s about to fall on these lambs.]
[Hela nods her head in pride for her avatar’s work.]
[Skuld says this will surely earn him the enmity of several gods.]
[Cassandra gives a sigh for the dark and bloody future she envisioned.]
[Nyx hopes you’ll be careful.]
[Selene looks at the moonstone that was her avatar’s and curses you for taking it away.]
[Chandra raises his eyebrows, feeling interested in the fallen God’s legacy.]
[Khonshu scoffs at everyone, asking you to fulfill your end of the deal as soon as possible.]
[Moloch looks at his followers and you, and hopes you create a good show of slaughter for him.]
[Baal hopes you end that Banshee’s life and remove this plague from this planet.]
[Moloch laughs at this fool’s foolish requests, trying to trick youngsters.]
Rio floated high in the air, overlooking everything happening below. The sound from the gods talking to him or sending their messages in the world system was constantly buzzing.
He closed off everything, and looked at his surroundings, which started to change in front of his eyes slowly, when the moonstone finally teleported them out of this forest and into the land of slaughter he prepared.
As the figure of Rio emerged in the temple, a shadow landed near him, handing him a mask and a storage ring.
By the time other students started appearing in the temple of Yarikh everything about him was changed. There was a red demon mask on his face, as his clothes were changed into an all black armor and hood too.
There were more than a dozen people standing behind him , wearing the same mask and same clothes.
The students looked all around them in surprise, watching the unfamiliar scenery and statues around them. Before their focus finally landed on the masked figure surrounding them.
“Let the slaughter begin.” Rio said, his voice changed by the mask, sounding cold and hoarse in everyone’s ears.
There were already dozens of formations and array patterns placed in this temple that blocked all sounds, communication, perception and mana signals from anyone. A barrier blocking everyone from entering or leaving this place.
Even S rankers would have difficulty finding this place, and getting past all the traps, barriers and illusions Rio had set up here. He’s been working on this place for months, and been extra careful micro-managing everything to make sure nothing goes wrong. And finally it was time.
Before the students could make any sense of the situation, he gave another command and the members of Eclipse all dispersed. Attacking everyone from every side.
“Time to die.” Rio said, his figure landing right next to Marcel, who was still held by the Banshee. He suddenly appeared in front of Marcel, before a black sword pierced his heart and took his life.
No pings, no elimination and certainly no teleportation – his one death, gave all the clarity any student needed.
It was an ambush, and they were trapped. And if not careful then killed too.
