Life Of Muta - Chapter 6
The front of Golgia stood two profoundly large structures. They were the colossus guards that were said to be the protectors of Cellamis. During the Mitonian Period, where chaos was a common occurrence, the whole land was under the attack of demons. Citizens of Cellamis was in distraught as every day they were not able to sleep in peace for at any moment, a demon may break into their homes and ravage over the women and children. It was an unpleasant sight.
At that time, there also was a lot of civil unrest too as the land was originally ruled by three kings. However, each of them wanted to be the sole ruler of the land and it had caused a great disturbance among the ordinary citizens too. Not only was the villager’s besieged by demons that were invading from all four sides of Cellamis, there was also internal warfare. It was at that time when two mysterious men had appeared in Cellamis and helped defeat the demons and settle the strife of the kings. They had singlehandedly achieved peace within the land. Nobody knew of their origins, but after that incident, the duo had disappeared, a meteorite had crashed onto Cellamis. The power of its impact had wiped out a half of the entire population and was deemed as the great calamity.
When the aftershock of the meteor was over, the city of Nucleo was built on it and neighbouring sectors and cities were created. The new ruling king was born and he achieved peace in Cellamis again. Whilst that happened, the new generation of children were born with Auras encompassing different elemental powers and the land had once again undergone another transformation to become the grand and powerful Cellamis. Afterwards, in order to honour the two great guardians, the first new king of Cellamis ordered for statues of the two men to be built beside all the gates that allow for people to enter into the cities that surround Nucleo. Now, they have stood tall for over 500 years and the land had still managed to maintain peace within the land.
Surrounding the city of Golgia was giant stone walls that not only help protect the main city, Nucleo, but it also plays a hierarchical role in the land. Golgia was considered as a mid-ranking city. It is where most of the lords of the land stay in. The city contains many keeps and was actually home to the Great Street of Delicacies. Villagers from around the land would come here to set up stores or even try for an apprenticeship position in the myriad of famous restaurants.
There were three sections in the Street of Delicacies. The first was the Earth section, where anyone with a selling permit was allowed to set up a mini stall and start selling their food. People who bid the highest for the permit was allowed to sell there. The second was the Sky section, where the lords would normally dine. In order to get a chance to open a restaurant in this area, you would have to apply to the Food Association of Cellamis and go through many strict checks, like reputation of the Chefs, the type of food they plan to sell, a taste testing of all the food they plan to sell and even the financial background of the people who plan to open a restaurant here. Finally, the upper area of the street also known as the Heaven section was the place where people who have some form of royal background come and dine. The restaurant here are all top notch and high class and have to not only be certified by the Food Association of Cellamis but also be recognised by the Great King of Cellamis himself too. Even the high ranking lords have a hard time dining there as there are limited seats in these restaurants. Additionally, the price of the food here can range over several hundred silver coins and this is not something a lord can easily afford.
Gavin and Muta arrived in Golgia at late morning. “We finally arrived in the city,” Muta said while panting, “Dad can we finally take a break?” They were hungry as they had been trekking through the Evergreen forest for hours without stop. Gavin looked towards his son and laughed. “Muta how could be tired from this little walking? I’m sure you have been through a lot more than this during all the survival training that I put you through?”
“Well during survival training, I would usually only carry a small backpack and start creating a campsite to settle down for a while. However, with you, not only do I have to carry my backpack, but I had to lug around this giant wild hog that you killed on the way here.” Muta’s back current has a large bulky object being tied around his backpack. For his small size, the midsize wild hog looked especially large on Muta.
“Haha, are you saying bringing around this 150 jin hog is tiresome? Man, you must have been enjoying your childhood so much if you think this is heavy. I should’ve increased your daily weight training exercise when we were in the village. Anyways, since you made it this far, I shall just help you carry that pig until we reach the destination.”
Gavin reached over Muta’s head and grabbed the bundle of meat. With one arm the middle-aged man easily lifted the dead animal with one arm and sling it over his back. The object didn’t look very big on Gavin’s body, in fact, it made him look more intimidating than before. Muta looked at him in awe as it really looked like it was as light as a feather to his father.
“Father, where are we heading to now?” Gavin leads his son up the Street of Delicacies, while explains to him the hierarchical system of this street. “Well, can’t you see? We are heading up to eat some food!”
“Didn’t you just explain to me that the food we just passed by was the Earth section? Why aren’t we stopping there and are now heading towards the Sky section? Can you really afford to eat all the way up here?”
“Are you really doubting you father right now Muta? When have I ever lied to you before? Just so you know, even the Sky section is too low for me and thus I will bring you all the way up to the Heaven section!” Gavin laughed while showing his son the way to the restaurant. The people who were eating in the Sky section were very well dressed and were eating very elegantly. The duo, however, were wearing simple farmers clothing and straw made slippers. The contrast was comparable to heaven and earth. The look of disgust appeared on the noble’s faces as the duo walked by them, causing Muta to have a look of embarrassment.
On the other hand, Gavin was looking up with a proud and unrestrained face. It didn’t even seem like he cared about how other’s look at him. Muta looked at him with reverence as he never knew his father had this much restraint when it came to people disrespecting him. It was as if he didn’t even place those nobles on the same level as him. Gavin and Muta soon arrived in the Heaven section.
There weren’t many people in sight and you could tell the atmosphere was very different from the previous two sections. Carriages pulled by horses were seen almost everywhere you went. Not many people were seen walking on the pavements. Muta looked at the ground and was surprised to see nice marble pavements pathed for people to walk on. Every 3 meters was another lamppost made with extravagant details. A white stone gargoyle-like beast was perched on every lamppost. It peered down on the pavement and road, giving off scary vibes at whomever that looks at it.
Minutes later, Gavin had finally come to a halt. The young boy looked up to see the restaurant his father was planning to eat at, only to witness a monstrosity of a building. The “restaurant” had four giant pillars at the front door. It had peerless white quartz staircases that lead up to the restaurant itself. The doors to enter the building was five times the sizes of a normal one, with the addition of two largely build guardsmen standing by the door. There was only a carving of the restaurant’s name on a giant piece of varnished hardwood perched above the door. “Dragoon” was the name of the restaurant. Muta tugged his father’s shirt while gapping with his mouth wide open. “Father, could you kindly remind me again why exactly are we here?”
“To eat of course!” Gavin answered back with a large grin on his face.
