Like A Ray In My Night - 75 A Good Addition
Mei Chao Bing patted his little bunny’s head and the two of them waited in silence for the other Elder accompanying them on this mission to arrive at the square.
Yun Bei Fen couldn’t help but listen in on the hushed conversations around them. Hearing people say things like ‘we really misjudged him’, ‘so they were actually engaged all along’ or ‘looking at them like this, they’re actually a really cute couple’ he felt really happy.
Finally, the others were willing to accept Mei Chao Bing! Well, it was about time. He really felt that they could have known before if they had just paid a bit more attention to him but he probably couldn’t expect everybody to be able to see just what a good person his senior martial brother was. Some people just weren’t that good at judging others.
Yun Bei Fen looked up at Mei Chao Bing, blinking his eyes in adoration. As expected, his senior martial brother Mei was really good at it. He had actually known that that Yang Wu Huang was such a bad person. Thankfully, he had taken the time to warn him or he might not have been able to see through what he said today at all. Hmph, just thinking of what he had said about Mei Chao Bing
Mei Chao Bing’s eyes widened when he looked at his little bunny whose eyes were once again brimming with tears. “Fen’er “
Yun Bei Fen hurriedly rubbed his eyes with his sleeves. His senior martial brother Mei didn’t like to see him cry so he had to make sure that he wouldn’t.
Mei Chao Bing rubbed his head again. “Don’t be sad. It’s nothing much. People who aren’t important to you don’t have to influence you that much. It’s only disappointing if they are somebody you know and care about. So don’t think too much about it. I would only mind if the one who treated me like that was you or maybe your Master. So since I’m not disappointed because of what happened today, you don’t need to be disappointed either.”
Yun Bei Fen nodded eagerly and hugged Mei Chao Bing’s waist, rubbing his cheek against his chest. “You don’t have to worry. I’ll never be like that to you! I’ll always love you no matter what.”
Mei Chao Bing couldn’t help but laugh. He leaned down and gently kissed Yun Bei Fen’s forehead. “That’s good to know. I’ll also love you until my last day.”
Yun Bei Fen beamed at him. Before he could say something else, Mei Chao Bing nodded to the edge of the square though.
“Elder Xing has arrived. Make sure you listen carefully and don’t miss any details. On such a mission, it’s always important that you can remember everything the Elder said. Otherwise, you might bring yourself into a bad situation and suffer the consequences.”
“Mn!” Yun Bei Fen nodded and watched the Elder walk across the square before he stopped in front of the disciples.
The man’s gaze brushed over the disciples that still hadn’t managed to calm down after this latest shock and finally stopped at Mei Chao Bing and Yun Bei Fen. Elder Baili had already come and told him how his disciple had gotten into trouble and thus delayed the two of them coming here.
There was nothing he had to say about that. The most important thing was that Mei Chao Bing was already in the core formation stage and had been for several years. He was a useful addition to the groups. And he had already proven that he was able to protect somebody weaker than him so there shouldn’t be a problem in him working together with the others.
Elder Xing nodded with satisfaction. With both Mei Chao Bing and Yang Wu Huang around, the other disciples should be safe. As for Yun Bei Fen He’d let him tag along with Mei Chao Bing.
The two of them seemed to get along very well if he could trust his own eyes and what Elder Baili had said. That could only be beneficial when being on the mission. In fact, the most problematic would probably be whether the other disciples trusted Mei Chao Bing. After all, everybody still remembered Elder Feng’s betrayal. Mei Chao Bing hadn’t been able to escape that completely. So the others might not be able to trust him in the same way in which they trusted Yang Wu Huang.
Having somebody like Yun Bei Fen around who could build a bridge between both sides should be beneficial. Furthermore, Elder Baili had asked to put his disciple in a group with Mei Chao Bing and there was no reason why he shouldn’t do so.
Elder Xing cleared his throat to call the disciples to attention. “We have managed to reduce the activity of the demonic practitioners over the last few weeks somewhat. Unfortunately, we still weren’t able to beat them back completely.
for visiting.
“So far, we haven’t been able to figure out the reason for them coming here either. Thus we will continue as we did previously: You will move out in groups of three to five people and patrol the surrounding area.
“If you happen upon demonic practitioners, you will apprehend them and bring them back for questioning if possible or kill them if not. Should you be overpowered, you will turn back and find one of the other groups for help or return to our base.
“If you find any clues in the surroundings, contact the other groups as well and have them assist you with figuring out the situation. If you are unable to make sense of the clues you found, you will notify either me or Elder Baili.” The Elder nodded to indicate that he had finished and then motioned to the side. “Very well, if you have understood everything, then you may move out. Gongsun, your group will take Mei Chao Bing and Yun Bei Fen along.”
“Yes, Elder.” One of the disciples cupped his fists and bowed before he waved at two others and then walked over to Mei Chao Bing and Yun Bei Fen.
