Limerence - Chapter 3
“What you’re not Alex?”
“You wh*re! Who are you then?”
“Guys, don’t be too harsh to her! She’s drunk.”
“Miguel, are you crazy?”
“Brad, you’re just confused. She’s not Alex!”
“Hey Miggy! Listen up! She’s been deceiving you all this time. How could you love her?”
“Guys, she’s just drunk. Maybe it’s one of the characters she read in her books. She…She…It could be that she’s just trying to portray one of them.”
“Oh please! Don’t try to protect her.”
“She has already admitted it. She doesn’t even know our girl code.”
“What a crap of b*llsh*t guys! she’s drunk, it’s possible that she can’t answer properly right now. You can’t just prove she’s not Alex by forgetting your girl code. Amanda, stop saying such crap.”
“Miggy, you know what, just stop trying to protect her.”
“Also, how could you explain that she’s not Alex? I mean she’s still the same. You couldn’t exactly have the same face with anyone in the world.”
“There’s a possibility, Miggy.”
“Right! Alex has a sister, right? Maybe she has a twin?”
“That’s impossible! You’re talking nonsense Katie. If Alex really has a twin, she wouldn’t hide it from me.”
“Still Miggy! Don’t be blinded from your emotions. Think rationally!”
“You know guys, you’re just making a big deal out of this! Let’s just drop this!”
“No, I won’t Miggy! I’ll talk to her tomorrow. If she can’t answer some of my questions, then she’s not Alex.”
“KATIE, JUST DROP THIS MATTER! Could you still consider yourself as Alex’s friend? How could you not trust her?”
“I’m doing this for your sake, Miggy”
“I don’t need your concern. Charlie, keep Katie away from me. I don’t like to talk to her at this moment, I wouldn’t do things that will hurt Alex.”
“Katie, not because you’re important to Alex, it doesn’t mean that I’ll tolerate you from having such accusations. So please…please just stay away from me now! AS IN NOW!”
“Brad, chill! Katie is a girl.”
“Don’t touch me. I’m heading out now, I’ll be bringing Alex home. I can’t entrust her to you at this moment, you ungrateful people!”
–
Alex was awakened by the sudden movement and noise from Gabby. Gabby keeps on mumbling some words that she can’t even understand. It looks like Gabby is having a nightmare.
“Gabby! Gabby!”
“Wake up, Gabby!”
She was waking up Gabby, but she can’t. She already did the things that may help her woke up but there’s no response. She was getting worried already, so she has no choice but to slap her sister to wake her up. Gabby finally woke up, but she was having a hard time catching up with her breath.
“Gabby, are you fine?” Alex asked but Gabby was busy catching up with her breath. So, she grabbed a water for her sister to help her calm down. Luckily, there was a stock of water in her sister’s fridge, so it helped her save time. She also continuously patted her sister’s back while helping her sister drinks some water.
“I’m…I’m fine!” After a while, Gabby replied weakly.
“Gabby, did you have a nightmare?” Alex still asked though it’s already obvious.
“A… Alex could…could you please leave me for a moment?” Alex was shocked to her sister’s request, she was sure that her sister needs her right now. Obviously, she’s not feeling well. When she looked at her, she saw her sister tearing up. She can’t afford to leave her with her current situation.
“Please” But when she heard her sister plead, she went straight to the door and before leaving she said something first.
“Come to me when you need me, I’ll be just in my room. I… I’ll be waiting for you. Have a good rest.” After saying those word, she was now a little bit relieved until she closed the door and heard her sister’s cries. Her sister was trying her best to make her cries as quiet as possible, but she can still hear it no matter what.
She then realized that it must be about Miguel and her friends, her sister’s tears will just be about them. It was just them who hurt her sister, after all.
Hearing her sister’s cries, she couldn’t stop but cry with her too. She can feel the pain that they have inflicted to her. Even though, Gabby reassured her that she’s fine and finally forgave her, yet it proved her wrong because at this moment, she can feel that her sister is not totally fine.
She couldn’t help but blame herself. She couldn’t stop thinking that this is her fault. It may look like Gabby has finally moved on from the past but the pain that she had felt up until to this moment is still there.
If she could just take the pain away from her sister, she will but unfortunately, she can’t.
She can’t stay there anymore because the longer she stays, the amount of hate she feels about herself increases.
If she just didn’t start all this pretending act, then maybe Gabby would be fine like she was before. Just like what the other people believed, “Regret would always be felt at the end.” She couldn’t stop but regret all the decisions she had made back then.
