Lines Crossed - Volume 1 Chapter 47 A Favor?
It’s okay, I promise. They can do fine without me.” I assured him.
Seungwoo smirked and a small chuckle slipped from his lips.
The wind whipped through the cherry blossom trees, their long branches that hung over our heads like a blanketed canopy of pink shook and trembled with it. The loose petals fell down showering the world with their gentle color.
“What? Why did you laugh?” I asked, stopping and he stopped too looking back at me.
Seungwoo leaned forward and his large hand swung up at my face and I froze as he pulled a strand of stray hair off of my lips.
My heart thumped in my chest cruelly.
‘Seungwoo, he reached out for you first. Should you do something back? Why did he do this? Was the hair bugging him? He is a perfectionist after all. Don’t go getting your hopes up, it wasn’t romantic, silly heart don’t misconstrue.’ I pouted looking at the ground.
“It’s nothing.” He stated.
A group of guys and girls walked past and started snickering under their breath a few of them making it obvious they were staring.
I didn’t blame them, it probably looked like a moment out of a drama. A beautiful man in expensive clothing in front of a poor girl confessing under the cherry blossoms.
Except I wasn’t poor, and we were not together.
“Yah, do you see how dirty her shorts are? How could she come out here like that in her gym clothes?” One girl whispered loudly.
Before scurrying away.
Seungwoo looked me up and down and his face scrunched up in disappointment and disgust.
And he pulled the other hand, out of his pocket and placed it on his hip while scratching his head with his left hand.
‘What?’
Seungwoo removed his oversized shirt slowly pulling his arms free. The shirt caught on his watch for a moment and his arm flexed to pull on it hard, his muscles and veins in his arm building up and bulging under the slight strain put on it.
He stepped towards me and his arms encircled my waist as he threw the shirt around and tied it up.
As he straightened, he turned to face away from me.
“Is it really that bad?. I know my clothing is old and ratty.”
“Now you look less ratty.”
“I need you to make someone feel welcome. A friend of mine. She is the Ceo’s the kid of a company My dad is scouting to get to sign up for putting their entire ad revenue through us. It would be a big account. And when they said they wanted to go here and had enrolled. They asked me to make her feel welcome.”
‘He wants me to help some girl. His girlfriend? His betrothed maybe? I heard he had one Does he want me to help his future wife get accustomed to her new status?’
“Why me? Why not just do it yourself, then?” I asked, running my fingers down the soft material of his shirt before grasping it lightly.
“I would but what I told that entitled jerk didn’t seem to sink in. I don’t have time to babysit a child.”
“A child? What grade is she in then?”
“She is in your grade.”
“I am not a child. You are only three and a half years older than me.”
“A half, huh? Even the half is important.”
“And you are not a child?” He scoffed.
I sucked in my bottom lip and frustration coursed through my veins.
“Guess I am old enough to babysit your rejects.” I snapped.
He laughed softly at me. His face amused and like he was staring at a cute kitten trying to be a cat. It made me feel small.
“How feisty. Just ask Mark to do it if you don’t want to. I prefer if our worlds don’t tangle. Every time they do, I seem to get bitten.” He said.
I scoffed.
“You came to me! You’re asking me to help you.” I emphasized, angrily.
“Why do it at all if you were going to be a jerk!” I yelled at him.”
“I wanted to see the brat’s school.” He laughed at some secret thing that was only funny to him. Then turned and walked off.
“Just wait. I will never forget this ever. Not a single word of it ever. As long as I live.”
“I am going to hold you to that. Someday I will ask you about it.” He laughed.
“How? Huh? You said you didn’t want to interact with me anymore. How does that work dummy? Wait, are you really leaving? I didn’t even agree to do you your stupid favor.” I yelled after him angry and fuming at being teased then asked to do whatever he wanted. But he was already too far away to answer, or care what I was saying even if he could.
I sighed, then looked down at the shirt wrapped around my legs and smiled softly.
‘Your secretly a warm person aren’t you? Was it really because my shorts were old? Or was it something more?’
I didn’t know, but it made me happy, the moment he had wrapped his arms around me.
