Lines Crossed - Volume 1 Chapter 56 Pining For You.
“So did you bring it? Were you able to get it?” Saint asked me unable to cover up the eagerness and anxiety in his voice.
“Yes, I was able to convince Eagle Eye to sign the doc.u.ments early in exchange for The original stocks Amonrat sold to Naowarat.”
“We have a deal, in exchange for cheaper promotion and advertis.e.m.e.nts through my company, and the stocks back, they signed the deal.”
“Your father has no hold over the company,”
“You’re free.”
“The contract has been completed successfully.”
“Congratulations on a successful, one hundred and sixty million dollar deal.”
I watched as Saint collapsed, looking as if he had just been released from carrying the world on his shoulders.
He sighed into his hands and lay back on the bed.
I smirked.
“I am glad I could finally help you with something. After all these years.”
Saint sat back up.
“That’s nonsense between friends Seungwoo. You know you can call at any time.”
Saint smirked.
“How is that girl of yours, you have been in love with since forever?”
“You still letting her pine for you from afar?” he asked.
I sniffled and crossed my legs, setting down the precious briefcase with everything inside it on the table in between us.
“She doesn’t pin after people. She is much too classy for that.”
Saint chuckled.
She is a very classy girl; I am sure since she is in love with you.”
“But that girl was for sure pining for you the last I saw. She followed you from Korea to Thailand for a full week after you came as an exchange student.”
“I am pretty sure that qualifies as pining after.”
“But you didn’t answer my question you only skirted it. Has she moved on… Or does she still have feelings for you?”
“Rather do you still love her?”
“I remember you getting all sorts of date offers and so many other things while here and you always denied every single one.”
“Saint, I love her so deeply I can barely handle it. I dunno… I… I can’t explain it to you in words. It’s this feeling.” I struggled around the words.
“I don’t think anyone can understand.”
Saint chuckled deeply, a throaty sound that was between comedic and knowledgeable towards the unprepared.
“Nothing feels better than it.”
“It’s this deep, warm fluttering, burning sensation inside you. Your eyes water when you think of that person, your heartaches and your chest freezes up, constricted and tight. Your thoughts are drowning in them, they appear when you are awake when you are alone, asleep, or anywhere public.”
You see something, and you immediately wonder what they would think. How much they would like it. How good it would be if they had it, what they would look like in it.”
“Every text is like a drop of holy water from the heavens every sweet thing they say like the mana of the gods. And it fills your heart with light.”
“It dawns on you over and over again, every minute you spend with them, every moment you spend away from them. You realize there has to be a god out there because this person was made specifically for you.”
“Specifically, to make you human.”
“Specifically, to show you that you matter. That to them, your life matters.”
“You will always want them; you will always ache for them. They break down everything inside you, break down every wall until you are standing them bare begging for them to take your poor wounded soul, and to love it as much as you love the angel they are.”
I stared at Saint shocked.
‘Did you just read my mind, read my heart, and bare it all on the table?’ I blinked in surprise.
“As someone who has been suffering the same way as you and knows exactly how you feel.”
“Telling them is inevitable.”
“I have been fighting myself since day one it has only been months, and I feel like I am being, shredded. Every moment I try to stay away, every time I try to close myself off, it never works… Ever. My entire heart was open to him the moment our eyes met.”
“I wanted to deny it.”
“I have people who want to hurt her. People I can’t get rid of in my life.”
Saint sighed.
“I know, I remember, I think that’s why we connected so much when you came over here.”
“I don’t know how to help you with that. I now understand exactly how you are feeling. I would do anything to protect my Heart from being hurt, but the people I can’t remove out of my life.”
“It also scares me to think that someday I may be the cause of something that harms them or hurts them in some physical or emotional way.”
“Sadly, I have only come up with the idea that distancing ourselves from the innocent like that is all us people with demons in our life can do to keep them safe.”
I sighed.
“Yes, it is the only thing I have found to work, in all my time of loving here, for every second of every day. Staying away from her is all I can do for her.” I said softly.
Saint stood up.
“Yes, well, this was depressing, exciting, reliving, and also happy at the same time.” He commented, shoving his left hand inside his suit pant pocket.
I watched him curiously. Saint always did that whenever he was trying to control a situation.
‘I wonder who opened your eyes to the feelings and struggles I have been enduring for years?’
“Who is your Miran?” I thought, not brave enough to ask him the question myself.
“Let’s go eat, I want to take you to the site of Ngeun’s murderous plans. I found out from a spy that he plans on meeting us as this new Restaurant called The Three Kingdom’s I heard it’s really lavish and excessive. If we don’t want him to think he has the upper hand, that he has impressed us. We should check it out today.”
“Just to be safe, and I am hungry,” Saint commented.
Kit shoved his glasses up.
“Getting to know the battlefield before the battle is always an excellent idea. And, well, food sounds good about now.” Kit grinned.
I smirked.
“Yes, let’s go check out the battlefield, shall we?” I agreed, stood then motioned for them to lead the way.
I walked out, feeling confident in my choice of sides.
It was one heck of a win, going behind my dad’s back to help Saint. But I had made a deal that even he couldn’t pass up.”
“Because greed talks.”
“Especially with those who don’t have a soul.” I thought bitterly.
