Lin Meirong checked her wristwatch for the umpteenth time for the past ten minutes that afternoon. Her eyes constantly looked outside the coffee shop where she was seated, waiting for Li Xiuying to arrive. Every minute passed with her waiting impatiently for Li Xiuying, made her anger rise faster.
She had waited for Mu Jianyu to leave her place and go back to the company to work before contacting Li Xiuying. She had enough of waiting for the two to divorce. With her tummy getting bigger each day, it wasn’t certain how long she would be able to hold on to Mu Jianyu once she gave birth.
The chimes of the door rang as it opened. Finally, the woman she’d been waiting for showed up. Lin Meirong waved her hand to get Li Xiuying’s attention. Li Chuntao smiled at her while her two bodyguards remained outside the coffee shop where they could still see her clearly.
“Good afternoon, Miss Lin. I’m so sorry for the wait. There was a slight traffic jam on our way here.” Li Chuntao sat across her and thanked the staff for the menu given to her.
“It’s okay, Lady Li. Actually, I wasn’t even sure if you’ll accept my invitation,” Lin Meirong said warily.
Li Chuntao gave her a good look. Like what she had expected, Lin Meirong now was heavily pregnant.
“Oh, wow, Miss Lin. I haven’t seen you for weeks and you grew faster than I expected,” she commented, making the other woman uncomfortable with her remark. No pregnant woman would want to hear something like that, especially Lin Meirong who was extremely vain when it comes to her appearance.
Had she really grown that large? She was already in her sixth month now and although she had been hiding herself from public scrutiny since her career’s downfall, Lin Meirong paid attention to her growing figure.
Ever since she was kicked out from Redux Entertainment, her life turned for the worst. Her friends abandoned her and mocked her. Those people she’d helped at her peak had forgotten about her. She had no one to support her right now except for Mu Jianyu, although she knew that he was only after the child in her womb.
“Miss Lin, is there something I can help you with? I wasn’t expecting to receive a call from you.” Li Chuntao didn’t waste time asking for Lin Meirong’s intention to meet her, though she already had a hunch of what this was all about. She must be really desperate to secure her and her bastard child’s future by attempting to torment Ying now.
Lin Meirong forced a smile in her face and rubbed her protruding belly.
“When I heard about your accident, I didn’t expect you to forget the past.” She admitted, “Actually Lady Li, this wasn’t the first time we’ve met each other like this. The last time we’ve talked to each other was also in this place. Furthermore, we both share something in common.”
She blinked twice, pretending to be confused with Lin Meirong’s words.
“I don’t understand what you’re saying, Miss Lin. As far as I know, I left Li Corporation after I married Jianyu. Have we met somewhere else and worked together?” Li Chuntao asked. Her order arrived and she thanked the waitress before taking a sip from her cup.
Lin Meirong pursed her lips and took a deep breath.
“No, of course, that’s not what I mean, Lady Li. What we have in common is your husband,” she bit out, hoping she could get some reaction from Li Xiuying. Oh, she couldn’t wait to see this angel’s face filled with anger and despair. She could still remember how Li Xiuying humiliated her the last time they were here.
“My husband? What about Jianyu?” Li Chuntao placed her cup back on its saucer and looked straight at Lin Meirong’s face, who couldn’t even contain the smug in her eyes, but she remained calm. She already knew that Lin Meirong wanted to sow discord between her and Mu Jianyu but she wouldn’t give her the satisfaction to see ‘Ying’ breakdown from Mu Jianyu’s betrayal.
“You might have forgotten and Jianyu feels guilty for what we’ve done and I think it’s unfair for you to be kept in the dark for too long. The truth is… Lady Li, Jianyu and I are in a relationship before your accident and the child I’m carrying right now is his. I think it’s unfair for the three of us to continue this facade anymore so…”
“If you think it’s unfair, then why did you have an affair with a married man? Slut.” Li Chuntao’s words were so cold and demeaning that Lin Meirong was left flabbergasted by her response. “You can’t respect the sanctity of marriage nor respect the wife. Who are you to call out for unfairness when you were the one who trampled someone’s life.”
“Did you think by inviting me here, pretending to sympathize with me would change the fact that you slept with my husband? Do you think using your bastard child would make me pity you? Sorry, bitch. You are only fooling yourself here.” The witch continued with her tirade, not giving Lin Meirong to retort.
“You had money. You upgrade your face, body, and wardrobe but what have you forgotten was to upgrade your brain too. You can use it sometimes you know. It wouldn’t cost you a thing to use it once in a while.” Li Chuntao crossed her legs and sat regally, smiling evilly at Lin Meirong.
“You…” Lin Meirong choked out. “You remember…”
How could this be possible? Didn’t Mu jianyu say that Li Xiuying had forgotten the last seven years of her life? Did someone tell her about the affair or did she never lose her memories in the first place?
This wasn’t what she was expecting to hear from Li Xiuying when she decided to reveal her affair with her husband. Shouldn’t she be bursting in tears now and not smiling?
“Of course, do you think such grave sin could easily be forgotten, Gu Changge? Such an unfortunate woman I am, don’t you think.”
Lin Meirong hardened her jaws and let her hatred show on her face.
“Then since you remember everything, then why won’t you leave Mu Jianyu and give him back to me?” She snarled at Li Chuntao.
“Correction, slut. He’s the one who wouldn’t leave me alone.” Li Chuntao was amused at how easy it was for Lin Meirong to lower her guard and lash out on her.
“That’s because he’s pitying you. He doesn’t love you anymore. He’s mine now.” Lin Meirong wasn’t planning to give up easily.
“Do I care if he loves you or not? And why would I leave my husband? I should be the one who must tell you to leave, bitch. Why should I let you two be happy when both of you destroyed my happiness?” She questioned with a low chuckle. “Hearing you say that he loves you more than me, his own wife. Ah, maybe I should keep him forever, don’t you think?”
