Li Chuntao turned to face him and scooted closer to his side. Her eyes lowered as she hooked her arm on his while Shen Zichen’s gaze softened on her. When he came back to his office, he didn’t see her there, but Su Ling who was just outside the door told him that she hadn’t come back with Yu Lou yet.
He glanced at the clock and he saw that he was just in time as the clock turned five. At least he wasn’t late this time, but the woman who said she’d wait for him was missing.
Shen Zichen then left his office after thanking Su Ling and tried to call Li Chuntao’s phone but she wasn’t answering. As soon as he reached the level below his floor, he spotted Li Chuntao from afar confronting Lin Meirong.
He also saw Mu Jianyu making his way towards the two women after Lin Meirong spilled the drink Li Chuntao was holding in her hand. Of course, he knew what his witch was up to and Lin Meirong was just unfortunate that she crossed paths with Li Chuntao today.
“Are you alright?” He asked her. He was only gone for a few minutes and yet Li Chuntao had managed to attract trouble in his absence. Well, not really, because Shen Zichen was sure that she was the one who poked the snake’s nest this time.
Li Chuntao’s lips quivered and took a quick glance at Mu Jianyu and Lin Meirong, who was still fuming in rage. How was it that she was the one being humiliated by Li Xiuying now?
“Yes, Brother Zichen. It’s my fault, I should’ve not forced Miss Lin to take my drink. I thought we could at least be civil knowing that she’s with child.” She acted pitifully which almost made Lin Meirong puke with blood from her shamelessness.
What being civil? Wasn’t it Li Xiuying the one who sought after her and tried to cause trouble? How dare she act so pitiful as if she’d bullied her in front of Shen Zichen and Mu Jianyu?
“Lin Meirong, why don’t you apologize to Ying for this instance? You shouldn’t have treated her this way no matter how angry you are.” Mu Jianyu told Lin Meirong, which made the latter think that he must be losing his mind to assume that she would apologize to his ex-wife.
“That isn’t necessary,” Shen Zichen said in a baritone voice. “Also, shouldn’t you be avoiding Ying? Or are you forgetting about the restraining order she filed against you?” His eyes narrowed at Mu Jianyu. Yu Lou had filled him in on what happened between Mu Jianyu and Li Chuntao during his absence.
Li Chuntao had successfully broken Mu Jianyu’s hopes by delivering the divorce papers straight to his door. He regretted not witnessing it himself. It must’ve been a spectacular scene to watch as Mu Jianyu grovel at Li Chuntao’s feet, asking for forgiveness.
“Ying…” Mu Jianyu looked at his ex-wife with despair. It’s been more than a month since he last saw her and yet she remained the same. She refused to look at him and still gave him a cold shoulder.
“Then let’s go. You need to avoid talking to them in the future. Don’t let the trouble come after you.”
Shen Zichen wrapped an arm around her and glared at Mu Jianyu before leading her away from the two while Mu Jianyu felt pain in his heart as he watched the woman he loved being taken away by another man.
‘Ying, was this what you felt when you saw me with Lin Meirong before?’
And yet Ying could only watch as he kissed another woman from afar.
Mu Jianyu knew right then, he was the worst husband for Li Xiuying and now he was paying for the sins he committed against his wife. Had he not been blinded by the lust he felt for Lin Meirong and his eagerness to have a child, he wouldn’t have lost Ying to Shen Zichen.
Now, it seemed like Ying wanted nothing to do with him and was willing to accept the love of another man. Her obvious actions made him assume she had given her hand, her heart and her future to Shen Zichen. He wanted to ask her so badly but he knew that he wasn’t ready to confirm his suspicion – that they are indeed together now.
Shen Zichen remained silent as they went upstairs, back to his office. Yu Lou had left them to buy new clothes for her Miss. it was a good thing that she had seen a boutique nearby on their way here or she was sure she would have to waste her time looking around.
As soon as Shen Zichen closed the door, he pushed her to the examination area and took his spare shirt that was hanging on his rack, giving it to Li Chuntao.
“You can use the sink here if you want. Yu Lou is still probably out there trying to find a new set of clothes for you.” He offered and looked away as Li Chuntao placed her discarded coat on the examination bed and reached the edges of her blouse to take it off.
Li Chuntao nodded and removed her stained blouse before taking the clean wipes from Shen Zichen’s hands to wipe the stickiness off her neck. It was a good thing that her chest didn’t get wet or else she would need to take another shower right then.
She washed her hands and face on the sink and dried it with a towel Shen Zichen had passed to her before sliding her arms into his spare dress shirt while waiting for Yu Lou to arrive.
“I didn’t think you’ll go out like that just to piss Lin Meirong off.” Shen Zichen told her once she was dressed. He tidied up his desk while they waited for Yu Lou. There were so many tasks that needed to be done before he could spend his short vacation with Li Chuntao.
“I couldn’t help it. Seeing Lin Meirong was enough to annoy me but did you see their faces? That was gold.” Li Chuntao laughed as she pulled up the sleeve to her elbows, deeply aware of how loose and baggy his shirt was on her body. “Now, it would be harder for Lin Meirong to gain Mu Jianyu’s trust when he just saw what she did to ‘Ying’.
It seemed like Li Chuntao was really satisfied with her act as a wide smile spread on her lips. She wondered how Lin Meirong was faring, now that ‘Ying’ had divorced Mu Jianyu and yet he still refused to get back together with her.
However, she failed to notice the slight blush on Shen Zichen’s face as he tried to look elsewhere, anywhere other than at her. Even when wearing a man’s baggy shirt, it still wasn’t enough to hide the perkiness of her chest and the slim waist she had. He wouldn’t have even thought she had been pregnant before, seeing her sexy figure.
‘What’s taking Yu Lou so long?’ He wondered.
Shen Zichen indeed had seen her naked several times. Since his proposal, he didn’t dare to touch or kiss her intimately until their wedding, but it was hard to suppress his urges, especially when she was in front of him like this.
