Little Miss Witch: Revenge Of The Tainted Angel - 184 Two Different Paths 2
Three weeks had passed since they tied the knot, but Li Chuntao still wasn’t used to sharing her bed with her new husband. That morning, she woke up alone in his bedroom, in his apartment, where they were temporarily staying.
When they got married, Shen Zichen suggested for her to move in with him. The apartment he owned was several blocks away from the university. There was one bedroom, a small kitchen, living area as well as a balcony. It might be smaller compared to Li Chuntao’s penthouse but the space was enough for Shen Zichen as a bachelor.
Before finishing his studies, Shen Zichen was able to buy this place on his own without relying on his parents. He seemed to favor this apartment, as it was the first one he bought for himself.
Even though it was farther away from the hospital where he was currently working, he didn’t have the heart to give up on it. He didn’t even think of moving out.
However, this was convenient for Li Chuntao since his place was nearest to the Li Mansion. It also wasn’t the first time she stayed at his place. If she got bored, she could easily drop by her family’s place to visit them.
Li Chuntao climbed out the bed, slipping on her silk robe before going to the bathroom for a shower. They might be married now, but it frustrated her that her husband wasn’t making any move to consummate their marriage. As to why, she had no idea. She wanted to ask him but he always managed to find a way to change the topic.
An hour later, Li Chuntao stepped out of their room with a towel on top of her head. She didn’t see Shen Zichen, which wasn’t strange since he started to resume working while she busied herself with self-study using his medical books.
She went to the kitchen and saw a plate of sliced melons and a note on top of the table. She had eaten two slices when the doorbell rang.
Li Chuntao sighed and walked to the door to see who it was. Could it be her husband? But why would he need to use the doorbell if he had his own key to unlock the door? However, when she looked through the peephole, she saw a woman outside his door.
“…”
Wasn’t this the same nurse she found when she visited Shen Zichen’s office before their wedding? Oh, this woman was quite bold. She even knew where Shen Zichen lived. Li Chuntao chuckled inwardly.
She opened the door, slightly ajar, enough to see who it was but without giving any indication that she would receive their unwanted guest.
That same woman saw Li Chuntao’s impassive face behind Shen Zichen’s door and was stunned. She gave Li Chuntao a nervous smile and said, “Hello, Lady Li. May I know if Doctor Shen is home?”
Li Chuntao raised her brow and pretended she didn’t know her.
It was rude of her to ask the woman for her intent without asking for her name but Li Chuntao didn’t care one bit.
Nurse Chen frowned at Li Chuntao’s words. She’d heard about Li Xiuying and Mu Jianyu’s divorce because it had been shocking news a month ago but she didn’t expect to see this divorcee already hanging out with Shen Zichen.
“Hello, Lady Li. I’m Chen Yili. I’m working as a nurse in the same department as Doctor Shen.”
As a woman who’d met a lot of men and love rivals from her past, Nurse Chen could feel the hostility on Li Chuntao’s voice. It was just, she was a little confused as this wasn’t how people perceived Li Xiuying.
Too bad for her, Li Chuntao didn’t consider her as a love rival at all but a mere nuisance.
Li Chuntao had no intention of letting this woman inside.
‘May I know why are you looking for him?” She questioned.
Nurse Chen lifted up a paper bag filled with folders neatly stacked inside.
“I was told by the director to deliver this to Doctor Shen,” she responded.
Li Chuntao narrowed her eyes and was about to tell the woman to fuck off but changed her mind at the last minute. The snow was falling hard, covering the city with its white cold blanket.
“Is that so? Please come in and sit. Zichen will be back soon.” Li Chuntao said, a flash of mischief glinting in her eyes.
After finishing speaking, Li Chuntao opened the door and let the woman who was coveting after her husband in. This kind of woman… She didn’t mind teaching them, reminding them of their rightful places.
Chen Yili thought that Lady Li would just tell her to leave the files with her and leave. She was prepared to be driven out by her and to gain sympathy for such mistreatment, but in the end, the witch had let her inside.
After stepping inside, Chen Yili then realized the state of dress Li Chuntao had and was stunned for the second time. She was clearly wearing a man’s white dress shirt without a brassiere underneath. The twin peaks could roughly be seen on her chest. It seemed like Li Chuntao had just stepped out from the shower, because she could smell a faint scent of floral shampoo from where she was standing.
Li Chuntao, of course, had noticed her reaction and grinned evilly. She took a pair of slippers from Shen Zichen’s shoe cabinet and placed it on the floor before telling Chen Yili to leave her shoes on one side together with her umbrella.
“Please excuse me for a moment so I can change my clothes. I know it’s improper for me to receive a guest like this but Zichen never mentioned he was expecting a visit today.” Li Chuntao pulled the towel from her head and regarded her guest.
Chen Yili took a seat in the living area and looked around in a daze. There was nothing odd in Shen Zichen’s place. It looked like a normal home for someone of his stature. The living room had a huge bookshelf packed with various books sorted by their sizes and genres. The sliding door on her left led to a balcony that could oversee the busy city.
There was a cat tower in one corner, where two cats were lazing around. There was also a huge brown bear on the other couch across her. Considering Shen Zichen being a Young Master, she had expected him to live in a grand place.
She also noticed that items in this house came in pairs. Like the shoes on the shoe cabinet near the door. She had seen women’s shoes of different styles coupled with Shen Zichen’s shoes. There was also a pair of coffee mugs placed on the coffee table with several fashion and entertainment magazines near them.
It also wasn’t lost to her that Lady Li entered the sole bedroom in this apartment. It made her more speechless than she already was. All of it meant that there was already a lady in this house and her presence wasn’t needed.
