Little Miss Witch: Revenge Of The Tainted Angel - 194 Trapped 2
The result of the test took longer than expected, and once it finally came out, the devastating truth was enough to leave Mu Jianyu breathless. As he held the test result in his hand, he wasn’t even aware of how his whole body trembled with rage the more he stared at it.
Three days after Lin Meirong gave birth, she signed away her rights and let him take custody of her daughter. Mu Jianyu had no idea where she was and where she went, but right now, he was itching to strangle her to death for her impertinence.
How dare she? After all that he’d done and gave up for her, she dared to trick him?!
The baby in the crib wailed, attempting to get his attention. She probably woke up from her nap, in need of another round of feeding, unaware of her biological mother abandoning her to her former lover.
Was she crying out of hunger or did she know all along that she was abandoned like a lost kitten?
Mu Jianyu broke from his trance and left the test result on the bed and took time to prepare the bottle for the child that wasn’t his. His blood was boiling with anger, yet he knew that he couldn’t take it out on the innocent child who had nothing to do with her mother’s sin.
He took the child, whom he named Mu Jingyi from her crib and bottle fed her. He couldn’t help but laugh at his own stupidity. No wonder Ying didn’t want him anymore. He was such a stupid man who let a slut lead his nose.
It made sense why Li Xiuying lost her trust in him because of Lin Meirong. He’d allowed himself to be played and be fooled by her. He should have known that Lin Meirong was bad news, not only to him but to his wife as well. Maybe it was his punishment for choosing the slut over his wife who loved him despite his imperfections.
Ying had never complained about what he could give and provide for her. She had never bragged about how much money she made and had constantly compromised on everything regarding him and their life together.
It was his incompetence and swollen ego that made him lose focus on what was important in front of him. He’d also neglected her needs for a long time and sought another woman’s company.
But she loved him nevertheless, although he knew she was on an entirely different plane of existence compared to him. His mother was a public school teacher and growing up, Mu Jianyu was aware that they weren’t rolling in cash and never had a lot. It was one of the reasons why he hated being poor.
When he met and fell in love with Li Xiuying, his drive to prove that he could be more than he was had practically shot his motivation into overdrive.
“Ying left me and doesn’t want me anymore. Your mother… your mother also doesn’t want to have anything to do with you.” He murmured as the baby in his arms sucked the silicon nipple of her bottle, her arms blindly swishing in the air as if she wanted to comfort him.
“Guess we only have each other now,” he muttered.
His mother, Song Xiangrong was still in a medical coma after she tried stabbing herself in her chest when her caretaker wasn’t looking. He couldn’t understand why she lost her mind and what had triggered it.
The last time he’d seen her and talked to her while she was still sane was when he’d brought Ying with him for a visit. He had no idea what transpired between his mother and ex-wife but he couldn’t convince himself that his innocent wife was the reason for his mother’s sudden change.
After Ying divorced him and married Shen Zichen, he truly felt alone for the first time. She truly distanced herself from him and avoided him like a plague. Of course, it hurt him but he couldn’t put the blame entirely on her.
If she was the one who cheated in their marriage, Mu Jianyu was pretty sure he would throw a fit and curse her to the heavens. God, she must really hate him right now, or worse, she might not even care about him anymore.
People tend to think that hate was the opposite of love, but it’s actually indifference. He must have successfully killed the love she had for him for her to treat him like this. He’d taken her for granted and blamed her for the sins he committed.
Why would she want him back in her life after all the nasty things he’d done to her? He was the one who sentenced their marriage to its bitter end when he asked for divorce.
He’d been a total bastard to her and he knew now that there was nothing he could do to change her mind about him. Why would she if Shen Zichen could give her everything she wanted in a heartbeat? He had nothing to give anymore, as he had already hit rock bottom.
Money and recognition. Why would people sympathize with him when he had nothing to be proud of? His past achievements were easily forgotten because of a grave mistake he committed against his wife.
A man like him would never know what he had until it’s gone.
“Don’t forget. You are the one who asked for it,” Li Xiuying’s words resounded in his head.
Ha! He couldn’t really blame anyone but himself. Ying had known from the start that he was committing the biggest mistake in his life and she was fucking right.
“Ying, please.” He begged her when she gave him the ultimatum, demanding for divorce, a demand he cannot deny. “Please don’t do this to me.”
“Do what? I’ll do what I want. It doesn’t concern you anymore,” Ying bit out harshly.
“Please, Ying. I love you so much!”
“Then why the fuck did you impregnate her?” This was one of the rare times he’d heard her curse, “Go to her, Mu Jianyu. I’m giving you to her, because I can’t pretend that none of this happened.”
She had laughed at him. The kind of laugh that told him he wasn’t worth her time.
“I think I’ve wasted my peak years with you and that’s enough. I’ve also given you several chances to redeem yourself but you didn’t. You probably thought that you could screw me over one more time after my accident, lie to me, and make me come back. Well, not this time. I’m moving on with my life, I suggest you do the same, and please don’t ever contact me again.”
Ying didn’t say goodbye. He wasn’t even worth it. He was the one who put himself in the complicated and miserable web of lies and deceit he had woven around himself. She was truly sick of him.
The past months that followed after their divorce hadn’t been easy for Mu Jianyu. With Lin Meirong always breathing against his neck, constantly nagging and complaining about what and what’s not almost drove him insane.
He had also attempted to call and reach out to Ying, begging and pleading for a chance to make it up to her, but she kept her ground and blocked all possible avenues he could use to contact her.
The baby in his arms stopped sucking her milk and fell asleep, unaware of her awkward living set up after Lin Meirong abandoned her. She was so young, so tiny but she was already casted aside by the woman who’d given birth to her.
Thinking about her, Mu Jianyu couldn’t remember anything about her past living situation before coming to the capital to pursue her career in acting. He realised that Lin Meirong had never told him where she came from.
Then again, she could be faking everything about herself and he’d been a total idiot to believe her lies.
Mu Jianyu placed the child back in her crib and let her sleep a little more. He wondered who fathered the girl and who was the man Lin Meirong had been seeing behind his back during their affair.
Given the estimated time of the conception of her daughter, he was pretty sure it was around the same time that the Li Corporation had sent him on several business trips. She might have snuck out and met whoever the man was and taken advantage of his idiocy.
The Li family might have known about the affair the moment it started. It was frightening how easily a piece of news, no matter how discreet, could easily reach their ears.
If they had known about his affair, did it mean they also knew who Lin Meirong really was and where she came from?
