Little Miss Witch: Revenge Of The Tainted Angel - 197 New Beginnings 1
When Li Chuntao arrived at the hospital where Song Zexi was confined, she was informed that the patient was already moved from the ICU to a private room. Her visit was strictly private and Su Ling did a good job of keeping the media out of sight, just in case they suspect her identity as Li Xiuying to be false.
The scent of the disinfectant used to clean the hallway reached her nose. For a moment, Li Chuntao scrunched her nose and held her breath. She’d been working in a hospital before she came back here, but still, the strong scent of disinfectant and bleach were enough to irritate her nose.
Su Ling opened the door to Song Zexi’s ward. The woman’s eyes widened upon seeing Li Chuntao and she forced herself to sit up from her lying position.
“Miss Ying!” Song Zexi’s eyes were brimming with tears upon seeing Li Chuntao. “You’re finally here!” She said excitedly. It felt like forever since the last time she’d seen her miss and she was glad to know that Li Xiuying was alive and well.
Li Chuntao frowned and cast a glance at Su Ling who only shook his head in response, wordlessly answering her unspoken question. It was still hard for them to talk about Li Xiuying’s death although it had already been months since she left the world of the living.
Song Zexi had no idea that Li Xiuying was already dead. She’d mistakenly taken Li Chuntao as her Miss Ying. Not that Li Chuntao and Su Ling could blame her. She was just not aware of Ying’s passing, yet.
“I was nervous when they won’t let me see you, Miss Ying. I’m glad that you’re alright.” She let out a sigh of relief when Li Chuntao took a seat next to her bed.
“Miss Song, I think you are mistaken here…” Li Chuntao replied with her no-nonsense voice that shocked Song Zexi. She’d already expected this to happen, knowing that Song Zexi was yet to be informed of Ying’s death.
Song Zexi stared at Li Chuntao’s face for a moment, as if she’d seen a ghost. What was this supposed to mean? Why did Miss Chuntao show up and not her Miss Ying? She couldn’t understand anything.
Wasn’t Miss Chuntao waiting for them to arrive abroad? Shouldn’t she be there, working in her hospital?
“I… Miss Chuntao, where’s Miss Ying?” Song Zexi had a bad feeling about this.
First, Hou Chen and Su Ling tried to ignore her questions about Li Xiuying’s whereabouts and now Miss Chuntao suddenly showed up as her visitor when she was expecting the older twin to see her.
“Miss Song… Ying…” Li Chuntao paused for a moment to see Song Zexi’s perplexed reaction. “My sister. She didn’t make it.”
At those words, Song Zexi burst into tears and cried pitifully on her hospital bed. She had no idea that Li Xiuying had placed her own safety in line just to save her. Her memories about the incident were still blurred, yet she couldn’t forget Li Xiuying and she was the first person whom she asked for when she woke up.
Only her pitiful wailing could be heard inside the room. Li Chuntao and Su Ling had remained silent. For the two of them, it felt like reliving the last moments of Li Xiuying’s death. Months had passed, but for Li Chuntao, it still felt like it was only yesterday when Ying was calling her to complain about her mundane life.
Song Zexi couldn’t believe that her Miss Ying risked her life to save her. It should be the other way around. What was the point of her staying by Li Xiuying’s side if she wasn’t able to protect her from harm?
“That day, were you aware that Ying and you were being followed?” Li Chuntao’s question came unexpectedly after Song Zexi calmed herself down.
Song Zexi looked at Li Chuntao’s face, thinking how hard it was for a normal person not to mistake the Li twins for their uncanny resemblance to each other.
“Miss Chuntao…” Of course, she understood the implication of Li Chuntao’s words, but how can she and Su Ling overlook such a scheme against their Miss Ying?
“Su Ling will update you for the details. Miss Song, I need you to fully recover. I’ll need your help to seek justice for my sister’s death.” Li Chuntao shut her eyes and clenched her fists on her lap.
To seek justice for her and Miss Ying? Song Zexi dried her tears and pressed her lips into a thin line. Li Chuntao’s face remained impassive, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes that Song Zexi noticed.
Seeing her like this, Song Zexi felt the rage in her chest surged in her veins. Her Miss Chuntao was indeed cold and indifferent, but that didn’t mean that she was invincible to the pain of losing her twin sister.
Who hadn’t heard about their parents’ passing from a car accident? The Li twins only had each other, but fate was too cruel to Li Chuntao and took away her older twin as well.
Exactly who was brave enough to scheme against Li Xiuying? She was a Li, and yet someone managed to sneak under their nose and harmed her?
Song Zexi lowered her head in shame and couldn’t stop the tears that fell down her face. Her fists clenching the blanket tightly on her lap as she felt guilt and helplessness washed over her at the same time.
Guilt; at the thought that she might be one of the reasons why Li Xiuying sustained injuries when they fell into the raging river below the bridge. She was aware that her Miss Ying wasn’t a good swimmer. Helplessness; because if she could turn back time, she would rather die that instant than let her Miss Ying suffer.
Song Zexi made up her mind. No matter how hard it would be for her to help Li Chuntao, as long as they could get the justice Li Xiuying deserved, Song Zexi would accept any of it.
“Yes, Miss. I’ll do my best and return to your side as soon as possible.” Her eyes stung with tears as she looked at Li Chuntao’s impassive face. There’s nothing else she could do now to repay Miss Ying’s kindness except helping the younger twin, who was left alone in this world.
Just because Miss Chuntao didn’t complain about the pain, doesn’t mean she didn’t feel it. Her pride wouldn’t let her show her true emotions, but Song Zexi knew… she knew how her Miss Chuntao must be devastated by her twin sister’s death.
She couldn’t imagine how painful it was for Li Chuntao, for someone who’d lost her whole family in a car accident. And now that Li Xiuying is dead, it must be more difficult for Li Chuntao than ever.
“Great! Then I’ll let Su Ling update you later with what’s happening. I expect your full recovery soon.” Li Chuntao stood up and gave her a glance before leaving the room with Su Ling.
