- 204 Your Stupidity Isn’t a Crime 2
Yao Qigang was detained at the police station after the incident at the Li Mansion. He’d been hysterical since then, shouting words that didn’t make sense at first for anyone who heard him. However, when he started to say something about how Li Xiuying should have been dead and shouldn’t have survived the accident he plotted, the situation started turning for the worst.
The investigation about Li Xiuying and Song Zexi’s accident was opened once again. It started with the police taking in the testimony of the sole survivor of the accident. Song Zexi gathered enough courage to relay what had happened that fateful day, which started by them meeting Lan Jinyao before their flight to meet Li Chuntao overseas.
From that, the investigator tried to check Yao Qigang’s phone and bank transactions to see who else was involved in the premeditated murder of the Li princess.
Three days later, much to everyone’s shock, ‘Li Xiuying’ appeared at the station to see Yao Qigang together with Shen Zichen. She looked paler than usual, but not because she was afraid to face the person who tried to kill her, but because her pregnancy symptoms had started to show.
“Lady Li, are you sure you want to meet him?” Even the jail guard was worried that this seemingly weak and vulnerable Li princess was meeting Yao Qigang face to face.
How can people like Yao Qigang plot against someone as venerable as Li Xiuying, who was well known for her charitable programs and philanthropic donations to the sectors that badly needed help? How could one hate her when she didn’t seem like she was capable of harming other people?
“It’s alright. It would just be a matter of time to meet him again, so why not confront him now? I also won’t be meeting him alone.” Li Chuntao took a side glance to her husband who refused to release her hand ever since they arrived.
“Alright, Lady Li. Please wait for a while and we’ll bring him here.” The guard excused himself, leaving Shen Zichen and Li Chuntao in the visitation area.
Li Chuntao looked around, looking at the walls painted in gray, surely making a person feel that life inside the prison was truly as lifeless and cold as it seemed. How befitting. Wasn’t this the kind of life she had after Yao Qigang and Lin Meirong killed her older twin?
A moment later, the same guard who she was talking to earlier came back, but he entered the other side of the room, where a partition was set in the middle of the room, separating the two sides. The detainee and the guest could only speak through the phone provided on each side.
When Yao Qigang saw her from the other side, his face showed confusion and rage at the same time. He let the guard drag him to his seat, which was just across ‘Li Xiuying’ and Shen Zichen on the other side. His hands were freed from the handcuffs, letting him pick up the receiver to talk with Li Xiuying.
Her words stunned the man, leaving him speechless from the shock of hearing the saintess’s tone. Was this the same Li Xiuying he’d met several months ago? Why did he feel like Li Xiuying had a complete 180 change?
“I have no intention of begging for your forgiveness!” He hissed back once he snapped out of his trance.
Li Chuntao arched a brow and chuckled wickedly. Did he really think she came here for that? What did he take her for? An idiot like him?
“Hmm, you think I came here to hear that bullshit? You wouldn’t be here if a simple apology could fix goddamn everything, don’t you think?” She retorted.
“Then what the fuck are you doing here?!” Yao Qigang asked through gritted teeth.
“You know there are some remarkably dumb people in this world. Thank you so much, Director Yao for helping me understand that,” she replied.
“If you are here to insult me, Lady Li, you are wasting your time. I won’t tell you anything you can use against me.” The man fisted his hand on the counter in front of him while glaring back at Li Chuntao.
Li Chuntao dramatically sighed. There was really no hope for this man.
“Indeed, I do treasure the time I don’t spend with you. Forgive me, Director Yao. I’m so sorry I offended you with my common sense.” She smiled wickedly at Ying’s murderer. “But I hope you’ll like your stay here, considering you will never see the outside world ever again. I’ll make sure of that.”
Yao Qigang scoffed and shook his head.
“Do you know why I never regret it?” He asked her. When Li Chuntao didn’t bother to reply, he continued. “Because people like you, who have money and influence always think that y’all better than us, commoners. That just because you were born with a silver spoon, you can look down on us and get away with your heinous crimes. I say you deserve it after ruining my life because of that bitch!” He roared at her, shocking both Li Chuntao and Shen Zichen.
“Because of you, the years of hard work I put in to nurture my reputation and career was destroyed. Because you picked on me to help that bitch!”
Help that bitch? Did he mean Lan Jinyao?
“And that gives you the right to kill a person? Just because you think it was unfair?” Li Chuntao asked him incredulously.
What a bullshit reason to say. He didn’t regret what he did at all because he thought Ying deserved it?
Li Chuntao saw red at that moment. If there was no partition separating the two of them, she would have leaped from her seat and started to beat the crap out of him even if she was pregnant.
How dare he? Nothing was worth losing her sister’s life!
The audacity of this man to look down on her and her sister. Didn’t he know that regardless of one’s social status, murder was still murder? Indeed, the justice system everywhere was so fucked up because the rich always gets the upper hand. But how could Yao Qigang say that about Li Xiuying’s death?
“You know I would love to slap you, but that’s animal abuse. No… in fact, it would be too unfair for the animals to be compared to you. You are one of the lowest scum I’ve ever met in my life. You cry for injustice and unfairness, and yet you took matters into your hands to seek revenge?” Li Chuntao couldn’t stop her body from trembling in anger. Noticing that, Shen Zichen decided to step up and whispered loving words to her for her to calm down and not let Yao Qigang’s nonsense words affect her.
“Your stupidity isn’t a crime.” Li Chuntao forced herself to calm down at her husband’s insistence, “but I admit it was enough for you to end up in jail forever.”
