Living In Another World Is Gonna Be A Cinch - Chapter 4
The next day we woke up got ready and set out to go to the Old Elven Castle. It was a 3-hour walk to get there and when we got there I noticed something.
This place wasn’t a Castle, it was basically a town within walls. There was maybe 6 building other than the main castle and watchtowers along the wall. Parts of the wall was broken down and everything seemed to in shambles. So it was pretty easy to get into because how the wall was.
“So let’s begin, remember we are looking for kobolds that are in the pair or alone. And if it’s a Worker class or Elder run. Keep information.”
“It’s ok I’m the best there is at running away from danger.”
“Rogan I don’t think that’s a good thing to be proud of, but ok.”
“Heeyyy. Yes, it is and because of that insult, I’m not gonna heal you when you get hurt. Haha what do you think about that”
I sighed “Well then I’ll let the kobolds go right to you then.”
“Okay! Okay! Okay! Please don’t do that. I can’t fight them.” He pleaded. “Hey, are you actually serious? Come on Pleeeaaaasssssseee I’m sorry, I’ll heal you.”
In his desperation, Rogan performed a spinning bow and begged for forgiveness.
“Fine,” Saudo said. “just make sure to take good care of the battle party. We’re counting on you.”
‘I think I’m gonna have trouble dealing with this guy.’
“Yeah, and if any of us die, I’ll never forgive you.”
Mikoto cut in; playfully teasing Rogan as she stuck out her tongue at him.
“W-What never?”
“Never Ever!!”
“U-umm, guys incoming six o’clock two kobolds”
Just then a pair of kobolds came running at us. I guess we were not paying attention because on Mason saw them coming.
Oli quickly put himself in front of one of the two kobolds and gained its attention. The other kobold went straight to me.
‘So this is how our first battle starts’
Kobolds are dog-like creatures that stand on two legs that reach a height of about 140 cm. They had sharp claws and often traveled in packs of three or four.
They had three different groups. There were the Elders they were the biggest and strongest of the Kobolds they are at the top of the social class and often had worker class kobolds around them as guards.
Then there was the Worker class they are the normal citizens of the kobold social classes they had to work for there food
There were the Lower class kobolds they had no rights or anything like that, they traveled often alone and were the weakest of the kobolds. There were exceptions like Kobold Champions, Shamans, and Kings but those almost never show up.
‘Thieves don’t usually take the front line but ok.’
The kobold lunged at me and I blocked it with my dagger.
“Mason get him while he’s distracted! Mikoto attempt to help Oli with your knife!”
The kobold wouldn’t stop it’s relentless attacks so I had nowhere to go. Oli looked like he had the first kobold down and Mason is coming over to help me with the second.
“Mason get his attention!”
“Got you.” He quickly replied as he started to make his way to me.
Mason stabs the second kobold. It was only a graze but it got the attention of the kobold on him.
I snuck behind the second kobold and performed one of the techniques taught to me.
“Backstab!”
It was a technique that when used correctly could instantly kill an enemy. The basis of Backstab is to sneak behind the enemy using a type of presence suppression that was taught by other thieves and stab at their vital organs. If it lands in the right place it would help the turn of the battle.
The dagger sunk in 5 cm and the kobold shrieked and clawed at me. I was only able to block the first two. After that, I was hit repeatedly and it created long cuts across my entire body.
“Ahhhhhhh Fuck it hurts. Kill it! Someone, kill it!”
It hurt like hell, I could feel my blood running across my body and I could barely move. The last thing I saw was Mason locked in battle with the kobold and Rogan rushing over saying something.
