Living With An Immortal Dragon Soul - Chapter 11 A Maiden In Distress
Before we started to search for those hunters who kidnapped Natalie I had to prepare a little bit.
We still had the bear which was full of materials we could use.
Unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of time on our hands therefore I decided to take only what would probably prove to be useful.
Gabe, hand me your weapon, please!
Yessss, Milord” he replied swiftly and handed it to me while lowering his head.
The bears hide and bones were very resilient but if it wouldn’t move and I could apply my utmost strength to the blade without having to care for my own safety then the blade would rather easily glide through is body.
I wanted to use the bear as an armour but there wasn’t enough time for that. I only took what was the most necessary: its sabreteeth.
After I cut them apart from its jaw it looked somehow empty but the dagger-or-shortsword-like fangs would prove to be useful in a fight.
They would improve my range of attacks because both of them were about half a metre long.
Fortunately these teeth were very sharp already and did not have the need to be shaped and sharpened before using it as a human weapon.
They would probably cut through most material besides strong hide and metal-plated armour.
Gabriel suggested that I adorned one of his own armours but his stature was bigger than my own do to his Naga origin. The only two things that fit were the parts to guard the arms.
When everything was done Gabriel tried to find traces in which direction these hunters were headed. It did not take him long but I noticed that Little Racer (the Racer Lizard’s name) had already sniffed out the path which they had taken.
Good Boy” I said Search for them”
After my command the Racer Lizard started to run forward with his tongue on the ground to follow the scent.
I jumped on my mount and Gabriel and Bambi as I decided to call it started running/ slithering to keep up with Little Racer.
Fortunately for Gabriel the Racer Lizard was very occupied hunting the trail of scent and couldn’t use his full speed. Otherwise, Bambi would have been able to follow the Racer Litard but Gabriel would have been too slow.
I was happy that nobody in our party of four would slow us down.
It had already taken us two days when we finally arrived at the end of the forbidden forest as the humans called it.
Gabriel was very hesitant to leave his homegrounds but after he considered in what peril his sister might me he charged forward without fear while shouting:
Let’sssss find thossse bassstardsss who dare to ssssteal my ssssisssster!”
Yeah that’s the spirit! Let’s find them. I am hungry’
Whoa, what? I started to talk to drake in my head: it seems like we have to get clear about something. We will not eat any human! Not today! not tomorrow! Never!
Calm down I have never eaten humans…’
I wanted to say sorry for reaching to conclusion too fast
… because I have munched on a humans arm once and they don’t taste good’
I swallowed hard and was happy not having said sorry for assuming something that was absolutely fucking true.
The forbidden forest was surrounded by a mountain range that clearly indicated where it began.
The party of four started ascending the mountain and on our way we heard the roaring from beasts and the warcries from humans fighting bitterly to the death.
I dismounted from Bambi as it was easy to discover and hid behind a few boulders together with my little racer. Meanwhile Gabriel stood behind another boulder, holding Bambi. His stature as a warrior of Naga origin and hid armour would have been impossible not to see and hear even amidst the heat of battle.
When I closed in silently I saw what was happening. There were four people three in leather armour and one in rather destroyed summerdress.
At first glance this fight seemed to be already decided but after I looked at the scene more closely I was dumbfounded.
The reason for this wasn’t the girl although she could leave somebody speechless as well. She had the body of an amazon: tall and muscular. Nevertheless she had quite feminine facial features. Her dark brown hair was slightly curled and flowed in the wind sometimes covering her brown eyes and tanned skin. With her thorn-adorned whip in hand and her green dress she seemed like a spirit of the forest.
But her appearance wasn’t what caught my attention. It was her companions. She was surrounded by three direwolves.
Drake and I had the same thought.
Does she have the same ability as we have? The decree of bloodline that demands absolute loyalty from the beasts of their bloodline.
But didn’t Gabriel say that the descendants of the ancient beings were extremely rare? Wasn’t I extraordinary? There had to be another explanation.
The short time of silence ended as one of the men shouted.
Just give us the damn wolves girl. We don’t want kill you but we are hunters and if you want to stand between us as our prey we can’t and won’t be merciful.”
The girl who tried to keep her cool was clearly infuriated at these words.
They are my children” she screamed I have trained them since they were puppies. I will never let go off them.”
I understood. She wasn’t like me but she was simply proficient in taking a creature in taming and training it. As someone who knew that it took generations to domesticate wolves which would later become dogs was impressed by the girl’s words and actions.
Furthermore that guy just said that they are hunters and that they want to kill those wolves. This enraged me quite a bit. I dislike it very much to see someone hunting for pleasure or hurting someone’s pet and furthermore since he had confirmed that they were hunters it was pretty clear that they were the ones who kidnapped Natalie. I unsheathed my Sabreteeth which I had stored in the arm guards and prepared to attack this group of assholes. I sneaked behind their backs and when all of them didn’t look in my direction I commanded Little Racer to go for the one on the left while I charged silently at the one on the right. The only person who noticed this and smirked was the girl who then attacked the man in the middle and proceeded to command each of her wolves to help attacking one of the three men.
