Living With An Immortal Dragon Soul - Chapter 5 A Voice In My Head

When I awakened once again I was surrounded by darkness. First I thought I was still in some kind of void but when I tried to move I actually felt my arms and legs so as I wanted them to. After a few seconds I realized I was trapped in something but it wasn’t very hard. My knowledge about animals was useful in a specific situation such as this and I couldn’t suppress my confusion any longer and blurted out: why am I trapped in an egg?”

Because that is how a snake is born” I heard somebody saying but I was alone in the eggshell. I wondered

who said that?” don’t you remember me? I am the son of the immortal dragon drake reptilion prime, but you know me as the snake you died alongside with.” I realized the voice really came from inside my head but it sounded like it was mourning my death more than its own. The snake seemed to hear his thoughts because it answered I am truly sorry. Usually I die alone.” Can you read people’s minds like your ancestor? I asked the snake without talking. ‘Only your thoughts’, was its answer, ‘because the two of us share body and soul now we know everything the other knows that obviously includes our thoughts’. Now I have a voice in my head… I hope I will stay sane ‘of course you will because you can talk to me whenever you feel like going crazy’ “yes, but to outsiders it won’t seem like that when I talk to myself all the time and it’s hard to structure my thoughts when you mess with them” ‘ok, fine I will be quiet unless you ask me something’ “that’s perfect. For now I have two questions: how should I address you and what is usually your first action after hatching?” ‘You shall call me drake and … well … first we should try to stay alive. There are birds or snakes which often ended my life before it really began. I think that will be difficult since we have this weird body with arms and legs now. It will be hard to slither away’ I couldn’t believe how dumb a descendant of such a mighty being could be. I asked “you do know that many creatures are quite fast because they move their limps to run?” Silence, it seemed that drake was embarrassed because he didn’t think of that option at all. Well I think it’s time to break out of this shell. I thought it would be very hard to escape from this egg because I was reminded of young chickens trying to free themselves and struggling before they were ready. That’s why I used my whole body to slam and break the eggshell. *crack* *boom* I was surprised when my body ripped the egg apart with ease and I planted my face on a tree. Damn! I am strong and I am not even hurt. ‘That’s the bloodline of drake reptilion. Of course it is strong’ “couldn’t you warn me?” I wanted to lecture drake about not telling me such key details about our physique but I suddenly froze. “Drake you said that snakes often ate you. How many snakes would you think are causing problems?” I said while looking at the hundreds of snakes in this nest. ‘Well probably half this number’ drake’s voice trembled and I felt his fear. I had no clue what to do and drake was afraid. “Drake tell me what to do” *no answer*

DRAKE TELL ME WHAT TO DO *no answer*

I started panicking and yelled: “ANSWER ME”

*hiss* *hiss* *sssss* *hiss* I heard from all around me “damn it shut up I have to think”

*silence*

Wait what? Let’s try again “you there little green viper move around in circles”

The viper actually moved in circles

Are you kidding me drake? The snakes listen to my commands ‘what?’ “What do you mean ‘what’? Don’t tell me you didn’t know! This damned dumb snake will be my demise” ‘hey I am not dumb… I just don’t know many things’

I tried to suppress the thought of that being pretty much the definition of dumb because drake already seemed pretty devastated.

I walked around, commanding the army of snakes to surround me as bodyguards and walked around. My sense of smell increased dramatically when I was reborn and I could use my tongue which could now be split when I wished it to be like that to further improve it. I used this sense to guide me towards the smell of water. When I arrived at a big lake I sent a few snakes who loves the water into the lake to guard me from within while I used it as a mirror. Only two words came to my mind “young” and “handsome”. I looked similar to my old self when I was about 18 years old but every flaw I had seemed to have disappeared. My skin has become as pure as a diamond and as white as milk. The nobles of old times might very well mistake me for a noble young lord. Aside from this stunning feature my hair has become jet black and a little curly. The most dominant feature were my new eyes. The iris was a shade of yellow so intense that weak willed people might be hypnotized just by looking deep into them and in the middle there was a pupil which had to dominance of an apex predator. It was a vertical slit coloured in black with a silvery hue. When I thought about these new features I sensed drake enter a trance but there was no trace of an enemy. Then I realized what happened: he had been hypnotized by our own eyes. Damn it drake I thought. This thought startled him and made him return to his normal self. ‘What happened?’ “Nothing.. oh wait you were actually hypnotized by our body” ‘oh that won’t happen again’ drake appeared quite joyous. “Why do you think so?” ‘It is one of the very useful bloodline traits my father gave us’ now I was confused “explain it please!” Every negative thing that we survive will make us stronger and we will become immune to the great majority of negative effects’ “that’s great” I exclaimed. “Since we share one soul only one of us has to suffer a negative effect to make the both of us immune to it” ‘wow really? I didn’t even think of that… um… by the way how should I address you since my Dad changed your name?’ “Call me Val. That was my nickname before we merged” ‘ok Val, let’s dive around in this lake I still smell the egg all around us. Before you ask I can tell you that we can survive under water for three hours.’ “Ok let’s go for a swim.”
