Lop-Eared Guard - CH 33
Xia Jingtian squatted outside Yan Yi’s room and stuck his hand on the door, almost being able to feel Yan Yi’s sad mental state as he trembled close to the door.
It’s just that he was holding strong in front of Xia Jingtian without losing himself.
Xia Jingtian sat down with his back pressed against the bedroom door, then pushed Yan Yi’s phone that fell at the lobby in his panic through the crack. He tilted his head and pillowed his hands, looking at the flower-shaped chandelier that attracted a small flying insect, and softly asked the little rabbit in the door:
“Hey, do you like the baby, or do you just like Lu Shangjin’s baby?”
Leaning against the door, Yan Yi remained silent for a long time.
Xia Jingtian didn’t receive an answer after waiting for a while. The wooden door against his back loosened a little, and the shadow under the door left.
He also stood up and sat down on the sofa at the lobby, looking down at his phone screen. The photo on his lock screen was replaced with the three rose stalks of the flowers that Yan Yi had eaten before.
He opened the map again to see the route to the nearest local obstetric hospital.
In fact, the young master of Jiu’An Hong Ye was not good at taking care of people, but he was self-taught after meeting Yan Yi.
——
Gu Wei was sitting on the swing in the garden on the second floor and looking up at the stars. Through the open glass windows of the bedroom, he saw Yan Yi nestled in bed, hugging the pillow as he lay on his side, and his body was bowed like a thin and weak ball, while a small part of the pillow next to his eye was wet.
He walked over and poked through the window, drew the curtains, and closed the window for him. Yawning, he then went to bed in his own bedroom.
“If you don’t fall in love, there’s no such thing as being forced.”
——
The next morning, a group of backpackers came into the shop. They came to Nan Qi for a tour and were visiting this bar street. Yan Yi was unable to get away, so he had to wait until tomorrow to go to the hospital.
On the third day, Gu Wei gave Yan Yi a day off.
After tidying up his bedroom, Yan Yi wrapped himself up in a grey windbreaker– On this day he received his salary, Yan Yi spent the whole morning on the street alone. The shop assistant lady enthusiastically praised Yan Yi for simply looking like a clothes rack1. How did he look so good in these clothes?
Yan Yi looked at himself in the mirror, his collarbones that became thin protruding out. Maybe it was because the glandular dormancy injection had not yet worn off its effect, so there was a faint abnormal look on his face.
“Does this- look good?” Yan Yi asked the shop assistant lady.
Under the indifferent gaze of the pair of light grey eyes, the melancholy could be transmitted into the heart like temperature.
The shop assistant lady was stunned for a moment. Due to the habit of carefully observing people’s expressions and words that arose from work, she saw the wedding ring on Yan Yi’s ring finger, its surface polished to a bright shine, so she said with a warm smile, “Of course you look good, your husband will definitely like it.”
Hearing this, Yan Yi took a photo of himself while facing the fitting room mirror. The melancholy in his eyes suddenly disappeared by half. His eyes and eyebrows curved to look at himself in the mirror. It seemed that he felt comfortable in his heart.
“Then put them in a bag.” His smile carried a pleasantly warm spring breeze, seemingly looking like a different person from the one facing the mirror just now.
The card that Lu Shangjin gave him was sandwiched in the notebook that he scored Lu Shangjin in. A card was not as heavy as cash in his hand. It’s light. He wouldn’t know when he would lose it and forget where he’d put it, just like the feelings they had before, there was no guarantee.
So he had to take good care of it like any other gift.
Lu Shangjin had regained a high score of 689 points. When adding points, Yan Yi would always add a big score without even thinking, but the deduction of points would only be reduced one point at a time.
He didn’t wake Xia Jingtian, who was sleeping on the sofa, and took a taxi to the nearest obstetrics hospital alone.
Yan Yi was tossing and turning all night, and there was blue-black under his eyes. He supported his head against the door inside the car before rolling down the car window, breathing in the slightly damp air from outside.
At the intersection waiting for the red lights in the city centre, there was an aristocratic primary school where many luxury cars were parked at the gate to see their children off. Several parents who were sending their children to the door still couldn’t feel at ease, almost driving into the teaching building to put their child onto the chair.
There was a child wearing the same style of formal attire without a special car to send him off. He was carrying his school bag and crossing the street to the school gates.
The red light was already over when he walked onto the sidewalk. After a brief flashing of the yellow light, at the moment when the green light was on, a left-turning van suddenly rushed out.
The little omega cried out and ran forward in fear.
But the green light was already on, and the dense traffic started. A silver Volkswagon that just drove in slammed sharply on the brakes, the screeching sound of the tires creating friction against the asphalt attracted the attention of everyone on the road. The little omega was about to get caught under the wheel.
Yan Yi pulled up from the roof with both hands and flipped out from the car window. His figure was like a flash of lightning as he pulled the little omega into his arms and rolled out from under the wheel.
For a moment, the sudden screeching sound of cars braking on the road came one after another.
Yan Yi put the little omega at the school gates, then squatted down and patted the dust from his little school attire.
The little omega was frozen with fright for a long time, then burst into tears when Yan Yi patted his hair.
“Don’t cry.” Yan Yi wiped his tears. When his fingertips touched the jelly-like milky white little cheeks, his fingers shrunk back in surprise.
This fragile little fellow was a little spider whose glands had awakened.
The little omega held Yan Yi’s hand as he cried until he was out of breath, his milky white face turning red from holding back, like a crystal-clear cherry.
“Why isn’t there anyone sending you off? Where are your parents?” Yan Yi gathered the little omega into his arms, gently patting his back to comfort him. He couldn’t help but accuse how there were such irresponsible parents for letting such a little child cross the road to school alone.
Feeling wronged, the little omega sobbed, “My gege promised to take me to school this morning, I waited for him at the intersection for such a long time but he didn’t come. I hate him so much.”
“Don’t cry anymore, baby, go to class.” Yan Yi took a packet of tissues from his windbreaker pocket, took one out to wipe the little omega’s face, then stuffed the rest into the pocket of his exquisite little attire.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, Wenchi is very strong.” The little spider held back his sobs while he comforted Yan Yi, his little hand touching the back of Yan Yi’s.
A female beta teacher ran out of the school gate. When she saw Shao Wenchi crying outside, her face instantly turned green. She took a shortcut from the circular planted bricks in her stiletto heels and bowed to thank Yan Yi with a guilty look on her face.
“Thank you sir, thank you sir, I’m Wenchi’s head teacher.” The female teacher bowed and held the little omega’s shoulders, then asked the little omega if he felt any discomfort with incredible concern. Her lowered voice and humble attitude was actually like that of an intern who accidentally spilled coffee on the president’s couture suit.
The little omega still rubbed his crying red eyes and comforted the teacher, “It’s okay it’s okay…”
If the child was from an ordinary family and was saved by a kind-hearted person, and even if the child was not sensible, the teacher would patiently guide the child to thank Yan Yi.
However, this beta teacher obviously did not dare to ask Shao Wenchi to thank Yan Yi. She picked Shao Wenchi up and asked for Yan Yi’s contact information so that she could solemnly thank him in the future.
Yan Yi not only saved the child, but also the teacher’s future. If by any chance Shao Wenchi was in any danger near the school, who would dare to face the consequences?
Yan Yi didn’t answer, he touched the little child’s milk-jelly like face, then went back to the taxi he took.
The driver was annoyed from waiting. He couldn’t leave without being paid, and wouldn’t get paid for the time spent, so he tapped the steering wheel impatiently.
Yan Yi frowned and then smiled, “Sorry, you can charge the time.”
The driver’s face turned from cloudy to sunny. He stepped on the accelerator and moved out, talking to Yan Yi as he drove.
“You’re an omega, but your skills are pretty good.” The driver clicked his tongue and sighed with emotion, “You should’ve waited there longer, maybe the child’s parents would come later. This school is full of children from rich families. No matter what you say, they wouldn’t be stingy about how much reward money they’ll give.”
Just now, that burst had consumed a small amount of gland energy. Yan Yi held his head and closed his eyes for a moment, “Yeah, looking at that teacher’s attitude, the child’s background wasn’t that simple. If he really got hit, the driver would be in big trouble.”
The driver was quite agreeable. He held the cigarette in his hand out the window to dust the ashes, “No, they can cover the sky with one hand. For this matter, don’t even think about coming out of the police station once you’re inside.”
Yan Yi looked out the window and was silent for a while.
He looked down at his fingers, the soft residual warmth was left on the fingertips that touched the child’s cheeks, like a little walking jelly, fragile and cute, making it impossible for one not to cherish and protect.
The taxi stopped at the entrance of the hospital. A Panamera which was supposed to be outside Ruins bar pulled up and stopped at the entrance of the hospital. Xia Jingtian was leaning against the door playing with his phone, turning the car key in idle.
When he looked up and saw Yan Yi, he waved his hand, “I’ll take you upstairs.”
Yan Yi felt as helpless as seeing a kitten he had abandoned the day before appearing again today.
——
After spending a few hours conducting several examinations one after another, Yan Yi sat on a chair to wait for the results.
In fact, he had almost gotten the results in his heart. It had only been a month since he had done it with Lu Shangjin at the dining room that day, it’s too early to show that he’s pregnant, so it’s impossible.
He was carried away by the joy of having a little bunny and didn’t even ponder over any other possibilities.
Xia Jingtian came back with a cup of warm water, putting it in Yan Yi’s hand to warm his freezing cold ones before he sat beside him, “See how much I look like a scum man who’s accompanying his partner to have an abortion.”
The corners of Yan Yi’s lips tugged, “A scum man who is willing to accompany their partner to have an abortion is not the most scum one.”
“…I’m sorry…it’s my responsibility.” Xia Jingtian thought that he might have hurt him and spoke softly, “If it hurts a little when you get treatment for the false pregnancy later, don’t worry, I’ll take care of you until you recover.”
“It’s nothing, it’s not your responsibility.” Yan Yi looked down at the steaming paper cup in his hand and pinched a drop of water from the rim of the cup, “This pain is nothing.”
Xia Jingtian kept looking sideways at him, looking at his cheeks that almost had no pores, and his light-grey alienated pupils. After a long time, he raised his hand and gently touched the rabbit ear that was hanging down cutely.
Yan Yi didn’t move either and continued to look at the water cup in a daze. Wanting to break the awkward silence, he asked, “What’s your major?”
“Architecture, minor in economics and management, my ge insisted that I study it.” When talking about his major, Xia Jingtian suddenly became energetic. He pulled out the BIM model and drawings that he made on his phone, flipped the angle and showed it to Yan Yi, “I drew all of these.”
There seemed to be infinite space behind one side of the screen, and the three-dimensional colored precision building model could be dragged and adjusted to view it in different directions.
Yan Yi’s attention was really drawn to it, and he turned it around on the screen curiously, “You actually drew it yourself?”
Xia Jingtian looked for a design drawing of a European villa he was most satisfied with and showed it to Yan Yi, “Do you like it?”
Yan Yi looked at the concept of the villa’s greenery and architectural style which had very attentive details.
He was a little envious of Xia Jingtian for studying what he likes. When he was much younger than Xia Jingtian, he was already learning how to wring an opponent’s neck with his bare hands.
“I like garden courtyards…where there are mountains and waters.” Yan Yi had once seen it on TV.
“Chinese style?” Xia Jingtian then scrolled through to a scanned copy of a hand-drawn map; a small classical building which was in marker-pen colouring, the colour matching gentle and pleasing to the eye.
Yan Yi’s eyes turned bright as he took a closer look.
“I’ll send it to you, you can look at it carefully.” Xia Jingtian conveniently added Yan Yi’s Wechat. He had few contacts, and most of the space on the info page was occupied by promotion and news. It could be seen that he hardly used it, and didn’t know what kind of entertainment he usually had, it seemed like he didn’t care much about anything.
Xia Jingtian gave Yan Yi a sly smile when he returned his phone back, “You won’t blacklist me after saving the picture right? This would be getting a prostitute for free.”
In turn, it wasn’t good for Yan Yi to say anything else.
——
Dr Sun, who was giving Yan Yi the examination, was holding the examination report. As he was about to ask the nurse to call Yan Yi in, the nurse suddenly ran in hastily with the department head’s phone call on the line, signalling Dr Sun to answer.
“Hello?”
“Ai, ai, president Shao, hello, hello.”
“Lop-eared rabbit omega? Yes, yes, he’s here for a checkup.”
“Ah?”
Dr Sun was stunned for a moment. He hurried to the consulting room, shut the door, and said with a lowered voice:
“…But this doesn’t conform to the regulations of our hospital…”
“…oh oh…”
“Oh…okay okay, t-then I understand. You go about your business first.”
