Lop-Eared Guard - CH 36
Three intensely strong M2 alpha pheromones were mutually attacking one another. The domineering and powerful scent of the alphas instantly exploded and spread through Zhong Ling street in an instant. Tourists strolling around the shopping street in the bluestone roadway all stopped at once and followed this powerful sense of pressure, not knowing where it led to. They were curious, but didn’t dare to get closer.
The oppressive tension of the high-grade M2 pheromones rolled in like a thick cloud swallowing the city.
The omegas in the shops became so dizzy from the impact of the sudden powerful oppressive force of the alpha pheromones that they closed their shops in a hurry.
The owner of the flower shop where Gu Wei had just bought dried flowers from, had just happened to return. The shop owner was an omega. Feeling strong pressure coming onto his face just as he stepped foot in Zhang Ling street, he abruptly covered his glands and knelt painfully on the ground.
“Are these gland hunters…? There are several high-grade alphas nearby… It hurts… I can’t hold on…”
There were also several omegas in the alley frantically covering their glands, desperately resisting this oppressive tension that made one shiver. A child being held in someone’s arms suddenly let out a sharp cry.
Hearing the cry of a child nearby, Yan Yi put down the dried flowers and stood in the middle of the three people. “Stop it now! Do you all want to tear down this street?”
Xia Jingtian was the first to stop releasing oppressive pheromones. He sat on the front hood of his car and slightly raised his chin at Yan Yi to show that he was particularly obedient.
“I don’t want to use my M2 ability to wipe out this street.” Xia Jingtian swept his gaze over Lu Shangjin and landed on Shao Wenjing’s face, giving a faint smile. “Where did this bug come from? I hate bugs the most.”
Lu Shangjin glanced sideways at Xia Jingtian. “Why are you here? Your ge’s asking you to go back.”
Xia Jingtian choked for a moment, his eyes immediately becoming sharp and hostile.
Shao Wenjing brushed the dust from his sleeves before putting his hands into his pockets and leaning against the wall. The corners of his lips curled to reveal his sharp canines. “Young master Lu, long time no see. A couple of days ago on the cruise ship, I saw that you were holding a little celebrity lovingly in your arms. But today, you’re interested in the little rabbit by my lips? Why are you eating from the bowl and looking in the pot?”
Lu Shangjin was completely indifferent to Shao Wenjing’s provocation of deliberately distorting the truth. However, Yan Yi was a little stirred by it. He pursed his lips. The light in his eyes seemed to have blown out like a candle. When he looked at Lu Shangjin, all that remained in his eyes was loss and dreariness.
Sure enough, when he didn’t pick up the phone before, he had actually been on a vacation with Yuan Mi.
Seeing the earnest expression on Yan Yi’s face gradually fading away, Lu Shangjin suddenly became extremely irritable. He slammed the car door hard, stomped on his cigarette butt and quickly walked over to Yan Yi.
“Get in the car and I’ll explain.”
“It’s okay, I’m used to it.” Yan Yi wasn’t surprised. After all, Lu Shangjin would occasionally bring people back home to play. He had seen them all before.
Yan Yi wanted to help his boss move the dried flowers to the car first, so he went to look for him on his own, and found Gu Wei sitting at an open-air hot pot place at a safe distance of fifty meters away. He was holding a bucket of popcorn and looking in their direction as he ate, watching the fire burning across the river.
The instant Yan Yi looked back, he felt a sudden tightening around his wrist. A strand of sticky spider silk had roped around his right hand, and his body was then pulled by a strong force, his back bumping hard into Shao Wenjing’s arms. His hands were twisted and tightened by the tough spider silk.
“Let him go!” Xia Jingtian abruptly jumped off from the front hood of the car. From behind, Shao Wenjing locked Yan Yi’s throat with one arm and retreated back with him. He said with a joking smile, “Come, see if this little rabbit can withstand your gravitational pressure.”
“I…” Xia Jingtian’s strength was really unloaded. His J1 and M2 abilities were meant for ranged pressure, not for directing at single targets.
Lu Shangjin frowned.
He had met Xia Pingtian’s little brother several times. The little lion’s wild temper and penchant for trouble went beyond his older brother’s. Whatever great deal of trouble he would cause would be covered by his older brother anyway, so he never hesitated when he wanted to fight for power.
Shao Wenjing lowered his head and sniffed the faint scent on Yan Yi’s hair, then lifted his peach blossom eyes and curved them at Lu Shangjin. “Let me borrow him to play with for two days– it’s something you don’t want anyway. But if you come any closer, I’ll mark him right now.”
Lu Shangjin seemed to be able to hear the grinding sound of his back teeth gritting.
“I really don’t like you talking like that.” Yan Yi lifted his eyelids slightly as he was forcibly caged into his arms with his throat locked. He grabbed Shao Wenjing’s hand that was clasped around his neck, and directly threw his shoulder overhead.
Bound by the spider web, and with his hands propped on the ground, his long legs swung onto Shao Wenjing’s abdomen. This vicious move of the rabbit tricking the eagle1 was several times more powerful than when he had kicked the bones in Yuan Mi’s limbs.
Shao Wenjing didn’t expect that the little rabbit with dormant glandular cells could have such a violent powerful outburst. Caught off guard, he was swept eight meters away, and like a wandering creeping spider, he stood upright on a vertical wall and lightly stepped on the roof.
Some races have the chance to obtain their differentiative ability through gland differentiation, and new supplemental abilities can emerge. Races such as spiders and geckos can have the supplemental ability of “wall walking”, where they can stand and walk on various surfaces without being affected by their angles.
Yan Yi’s face turned pale. He had just exhausted his gland energy, which hadn’t been restored yet. As he was on the verge of collapse, Xia Jingtian caught his shaking and unsteady body. Bruised fingerprints could still be seen on his fair skin when he checked his neck.
Lu Shangjin suddenly disappeared from the spot and appeared on the low roof with a trail of his afterimage following suit. In an instant, he grabbed Shao Wenjing’s neck and forcefully smashed his entire body onto the finely broken sharp tiles with a loud crashing sound.
The speed was almost lightning fast.
It was the supplemental ability of the peregrine falcon “seize”: catching the target with the peregrine falcon’s hunting dive speed of 389 km/h.
“Don’t touch my things. Was the lesson I gave your godfather not enough?” The muscles on Lu Shangjin’s arms were stretched out through the sleeves of his shirt, the vicious hostility in his eyes burning extensively.
The corners of Shao Wenjing’s mouth were immediately stained with blood, but the corners of his eyes rose provocatively. “It’ll fall into my hands sooner or later.”
He lifted his leg and swept Lu Shangjin off the roof before disappearing in an instant.
The powerful pheromones that permeated Zhong Ling street faded along with the three M2 alphas, and the tense atmosphere faded out of the bluestone roadway.
“I’m fine, thank you.” Yan Yi looked back and thanked Xia Jingtian with a reluctant smile as he got out of his arms. He then squatted down to help his boss move the boxes of dried flowers.
His fingers merely touched the cardboard box, when the box was suddenly and impatiently kicked aside with a loud bang. Yan Yi looked up in surprise to see Lu Shangjin staring down at him with an ice-cold face.
“Are you angry?” His rabbit ears moved slightly.
Lu Shangjin bent down to lift Yan Yi up fiercely into his arms, holding his cheeks as he kissed his mouth in a rough manner.
“Come with me.”
He then picked Yan Yi up and stuffed him into the car before slamming the door shut. He walked around to the driver’s seat, turned the gear and left.
Xia Jingtian subconsciously chased after them for a few steps. Watching the fading shadow of the car, his expression turned cloudy.
Can you never catch up to the one who doesn’t love you?
“Handsome boy, come help me carry some boxes?” Gu Wei walked over and calmly bent down to pick up the cardboard boxes on the ground, “I really can’t hire rich madams as my employees. They probably just want to come and experience life.”
Xia Jingtian laughed in anger and snorted, “A husky making me carry boxes? Do you know who I am?”
Gu Wei looked him up and down and rolled his eyes.
He then did a 540-degree spiral turn, carried the boxes on one shoulder, and hummed 《Superstar in Turmoil》as he walked away.
