Lop-Eared Guard - CH 39
Lu Shangjin tossed his phone aside and walked to the balcony. He bent down and touched the rabbit tail sticking up from Yan Yi’s buttocks.
“Ah.” Yan Yi covered his butt and raised the waist of his pants a little to cover his tail. His face flushed a bright red as he sat on the ground.
“The floor hasn’t been cleaned for many days. Don’t sit there.” Lu Shangjin stood up straight and leaned against the French window.
Yan Yi stood up with a box of Timothy hay in his hands, lowering his eyelids and asked softly, “Is it for me?”
Lu Shangjin remembered that in that past, he just wanted to look at this same expression on Yan Yi’s face whenever he brought gifts for him- grateful yet shy, his face plain and gentle, but deep down, his heart was leaping with joy.
The irritability factor in his blood gradually subsided.
“Who else? I only own one who eats rabbit snacks at home.” Lu Shangjin put his hand on the top of Yan Yi’s head. “You slept the whole journey. Go eat something good.”
“I’ll cook.” Yan Yi put down the box of hay. “You should go up to sleep for a while. You drove all day, didn’t you?”
Lu Shangjin suddenly grabbed him from behind and pulled him into his arms, lowering his head and pinching the soft furs on his ears. “Let’s go see a baby. It’s a month old, you’ll like it.”
The familiar scent of milk candy pheromones made one feel at ease.
As long as he was sure that Yan Yi had returned to his side, the stone that was rising and falling in Lu Shangjin’s heart would quietly sink down, and the restless anxiety he had from the past few days would be swept away.
Yan Yi’s eyes lit up and he was suddenly awake. Lu Shangjin wasn’t talking about his child.
On the other hand, Lu Shangjin surprisingly wanted to take him to meet his friends.
“Oh…okay. Are there many people? I’ll go change my clothes.” Yan Yi was overwhelmed by flattery. Lu Shangjin had always isolated him from his own circle. Yan Yi wanted to integrate into it, but Lu Shangjin never gave him the chance to do so.
“There are a lot of people, but you know some of them.”
“Alright.”
Yan Yi went to the closet to pick out a formal thin-waisted suit that wasn’t too dignified, but when he looked down, he found that someone seemed to have been in here.
He bent down and touched under the pillow, feeling out each of his valuable treasures one by one to check. Not a single thing was missing.
The laminated group photo fell to his feet. Yan Yi picked it up and wiped the dust off the photo with his fingers. When he looked back up, he saw Lu Shangjin standing by the door and watching him.
“Did you… touch my things…?” Yan Yi put away the photo under his pillow in the closet.
“I came here to look for something a few days ago.” Lu Shangjin wasn’t too happy with him making such a clear distinction between ‘what’s yours and what’s mine’, “I didn’t touch anything else. I just took a look at that photo.”
“Oh… that’s okay.” Yan Yi didn’t want to make Lu Shangjin angry. He took out the valuable carrot brooch from the gift box and wanted to put it on his chest.
“You want to put this on?” Lu Shangjin looked at him with his head tilted sideways.
Yan Yi didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. He nodded with widened eyes, “You gave me this beautiful birthday gift. I never had a chance to wear such a valuable thing.”
“So cute.” The corners of Lu Shangjin’s lips barely tugged.
The material was indeed an expensive diamond, but the design was too unique. Fortunately, he was a little rabbit and wearing a carrot brooch wasn’t too ridiculous.
Having just coaxed the little rabbit back, Lu Shangjin didn’t want to argue over such boring trifles. It’s fine as long as he likes it.
Yan Yi went to the code cabinet in the foyer and carefully picked out a set of car keys. “The one you often drive hasn’t been washed yet. You should change to a different one.”
“Okay.”
In the elevator, Yan Yi was pushed to the corner again, and was kissed until he was dizzy before he was let go.
He liked kissing.
And he liked Lu Shangjin sticking to him even more.

In the corridor of the winery’s second floor, Bi Ruijing held his omega as they went to the lounge for nursing.
The butterfly omega carried his baby and glanced at Bi Ruijing. “Close the door when you go out.”
Bi Ruijing crouched down and looked up at the omega sitting on the chair, laughing playfully. “I can’t look at my own wife?”
The omega’s white cheeks flushed red. As he undid his clothes to feed the baby, his eyebrows knitted with an uncomfortable look.
“What’s wrong?”
“It hurts.”
Bi Ruijing couldn’t help but smile as he picked up the squeamish omega, putting him in his arms. He kissed his forehead and released soothing pheromones. “I’m sorry. My XIao Meng is still a baby.”
The butterfly omega held the baby as he snuggled up to Bi Ruijing’s shoulder, “Are you still going to the office later?”
“I’ll just make a trip there. I’ll go back early tonight.” Bi Ruijing soothed with a warm voice.
“I’ll lock the door at seven. It’s up to you.”
“Hey, laopo, why are you so unreasonable? Why are you still angry? There’s so many things to do at the end of the month, and plus, I opened a sale two days ago…”
“If you try to reason with me again, I’ll scold you.” The omega gave him a cold look.
Bi Ruijing could only nod his head and kissed the omega’s light-coloured lips, giving an indulgent smile.
“Little drama queen. Call out something nice, then.”
The butterfly omega pursed his lips and pushed the baby into Bi Ruijing’s arms, wrapping his arms around his neck.
“Uncle Rui.”
Looking out from the wooden window on the second floor of the winery, a Bentley arrived late at the end of the road. When Bi Ruijing saw the lop-eared rabbit omega driving, he was stunned.
Shit. It’s the empress of the main palace.
It’s really giving him face.
Carrying the omega, Bi Ruijing headed downstairs to welcome them, saying hello to Lu Shangjin.
Yan Yi stopped the engine and got out of the driver’s seat, smiling gently when he saw Bi Ruijing. “After living in seclusion all these years, only now did I find out you were having a baby.”
Bi Ruijing immediately stood straight, giving Yan Yi a military salute as he carried the baby, “Senior.”
Yan Yi just laughed, “I’ve retired for so many years. Don’t make fun of me.”
In the PBB base, one’s ranking – which was based on their combat potential – was branded on their body as a permanent serial number. The front and end of the serial number did not represent absolute strength or weakness, but it can be used as a relatively stable way of judgement.
Bi Ruijing looked at the omega beside him, “Xiao Meng, say hello.”
The butterfly omega wasn’t timid or shy with strangers, but he calmly shook hands with the guests. Perhaps it was because of his origins that he was born with a noble temperament.
Lu Shangjin slapped a red envelope into Bi Ruijing’s hand. “Congrats.”
“I’ll take advantage of my son’s light,” Bi Ruijing pinched it and felt that there was a set of car keys inside. “Hey, let me see if it’s the one I’ve always wanted.”
“It’s for Tan Meng. What are you talking about?” Lu Shangjin smiled lightly. “It’s top-end limited edition. I got it specifically to come here, it’s still nice and warm.”
Bi Ruijing glanced at Yan Yi, then poked the red envelope at Lu Shangjin’s chest. “I think you’ll be quick too. With both of your grades, your future child can beat up the entire kindergarten.”
“It’s… too early.”
When the two omegas’ hands were clasped together, they glanced at one another.
Yan Yi put one hand into his pocket and bent down slightly, speaking with a soft and gentle voice, “The windmill jasmine in the garden had just bloomed beautifully, but I was afraid you and the baby might be allergic, so I didn’t pick it. You are more beautiful than I imagined.”
The butterfly omega’s cheeks blushed from being looked at by the pair of light grey eyes. He hid behind Bi Ruijing and slightly revealed half his face as he peeked at Yan Yi in a cautious manner. “Hm. Thank you.”
The baby in Bi Ruijing’s arms had been in a daze, neither crying nor making any noise as he stared at Yan Yi’s rabbit ears.
Lu Shangjin lightly touched the baby’s cheek. “Heh, so soft.”
“I’ll let you hold him. My son is so cute.” Bi Ruijing placed the baby in Lu Shangjin’s arms, “Come on, praise him.”
Lu Shangjin didn’t really know how to hold him, afraid that using too much strength would break this fragile meatball that can be lifted with one palm.
Yan Yi was afraid that Lu Shangjin would drop someone else’s baby, so he held the baby carefully on one side. “Don’t hurt him.”
A small sock fell to the ground. Yan Yi bent down to pick it up and put it back on his feet. The chubby little feet looked like a small light red steamed bun, feeling tender and soft as it stepped on the back of his hand. Yan Yi’s heart melted, and his eyes had already gently turned into a pool of water.
A very ordinary image froze in Lu Shangjin’s eyes. He couldn’t tell what he was expecting or what he was afraid of.
Yan Yi seemed to be asking him unintentionally, “Do you like babies?”
Lu Shangjin was a little silent, his eyes reserved.
With dangers lurking around, he couldn’t think about these things now.
Yan Yi generally understood what Lu Shangjin meant. He looked down and silently put the sock on the baby.
He felt tightening around his waist. Lu Shangjin suddenly grabbed him and whispered in his ear, “I like you, you’re a baby.”
“…” Yan Yi raised his rabbit ears to push Lu Shangjin’s face away, his disappointed heart feeling much better.
The butterfly omega took the baby back from Lu Shangjin’s arms and gently touched Yan Yi’s hand, his cheeks lifting as he looked at him. “They’re going to drink. I’ll take you somewhere to eat.”
The entire winery covered 800 acres, and the outer periphery was a mountain resort. The small estate was exquisitely tended to, with every type of greenery planted with great care. After small talk, he found that these flowers were grown by this butterfly omega himself.
A long table was completely covered with desserts and various dishes for guests to help themselves to.
“My name is Tan Meng, the ‘Meng (dream)’ from Zhuang Zhou’s dreams of butterflies.” The omega sat at the long table with the baby and picked a piece of cherry syrup mousse for Yan Yi, “I made this, try and see if it suits your taste.”
Yan Yi tried a piece. This proud and cute-looking little omega was really skilled.
He sincerely praised, “You’re excellent in gardening and such a master at baking.”
An ordinary omega who normally grew flowers, baked desserts, and even had an alpha who loved him dearly; it was a perfect and comfortable life that Yan Yi yeared for.
Yan Yi could feel the little butterfly’s gland energy, which did not reach the M2 grade, but was still stronger than J1. Although not comparable to the A3 gland, he was by no means weak or fragile, and he was still young.
Tan Meng gently patted the baby’s back, rocking him to sleep. After the baby fell asleep, he handed him to the nanny beside him before stretching his legs and leaning back against the long table, slightly raising his elegant and delicate chin.
“Before, Lu Shangjin called to ask me for two million yuan and took a card from me. It should be for you right?”
Yan Yi thought about the bank card from before, which had a common password and a butterfly shaped sticker on it.
“He asked me to help him…” Tan Meng made a playful gesture of washing laundry. “You can spend that money without worrying. Lu Lin won’t track you down.”
“…” Yan Yi looked at him in bewilderment.
Seeing Yan Yi’s expression, Tan Meng looked him up and down strangely, “He didn’t tell you? Oh, it’s okay. Everyone in the circle knows what kind of person Lu Lin is. Your glands are so rare, he’s definitely keeping an eye on you. The alphas in the peregrine falcon family have the ability to locate and track. If you have Lu Shangjin’s pheromones on you, or spend his money, it’d be very easy to find you.”
“Not marking me… is to protect me?” The expression on Yan Yi’s face gradually faded as he stared blankly at the cherry syrup of the mousse cake trickling on the plate.
“This was because three years ago, Lu Shangjin blew up Lu Lin’s gene database,” Tan Meng said, as though he was telling a joke with cunning eyes, “The entire set of computers were destroyed, including your pheromone records. Lu Lin can only use Lu Shangjin’s pheromones to catch you now. As long as Lu Shangjin doesn’t mark you, he definitely won’t be able to find you.”
“How did I… not know all of this?”
It was as if the dense fog and haze that had been blocking and trapping him gradually dispersed from his heart. Yan Yi felt completely muddled.
He stared dazedly into the wine tasting room. Lu Shangjin was holding a wine glass, slightly awake, as he measured the quality of the red wine. Champagne coloured flames on the ceramic candle holders flickered, reflecting on Lu Shangjin’s side profile and casting deep shadows.
Xia Pingtian was present as well. He sniffed the fragrance in the glass as he listened cheerfully to Bi Ruijing talking about his son with great delight.
“Actually, I just wanted to be sure when I sent my son to test his differentiation potential. I didn’t expect that the stinky brat is a real fighter.”
Bi Ruijing was quite proud, a complete contrast to his usual dignified and stable elite appearance.
Xia Pingtian clicked his tongue as he smiled, “Just remembering the playboy of our army troop, Rui ge. He has broken away from evil and returned to the right path, becoming a wife slave.”
“Leave.” Bi Ruijing shushed, “No one can handle that little goblin acting like a demon. It’s a childish temper. It’s like I’m raising two sons now.”
“Teach him a lesson then.” Xia Pingtian rolled up his sleeves, “Hey, don’t worry about anything else. Just give a tight smack and it’ll be taken care of.”
“Fuck you…” Bi Ruijing laughed angrily. “Do you dare lay a hand on your Xiao Jing when he pisses you off?”
“Him?” Xia Pingtian shook his head, “If I touch him even a little, he could directly blow up my house.”
“By the way, our Xiao Jing has a child’s temper. I apologize on his behalf for pretending to call you the other time. Don’t argue with someone unknowledgeable like him.” Xia Pingtian looked at Lu Shangjin and put his hands together, smiling helplessly. “I can’t control this little kid too. Ai, I’ll let my dad beat him when we go back.”
Since Xia Pingtian spoke this much, Lu Shangjin couldn’t say anything more. He didn’t plan to do anything to a little boy who didn’t graduate from college in the first place. Besides, he was his friend’s most precious little brother.
It was just that his little rabbit at home was too enchanting, so he had to be careful.
“I have to pick up a call.” Xia Pingtian pointed to his phone. “It’s from the hospital.”
“Hello? It’s me. Say it.”
“What…?” The smile on Xia Pingtian’s face froze, and his frown rose, “It’s useless asking me, go find a way. Fuck!”
Lu Shangjin and Bi Ruijing looked at Xia Pingtian at the same time.
Xia Pingtian said in a fluster:
“The baby your dad left has multiple organ failures. They’re trying to save him now!”
