Lop-Eared Guard - CH 45
Xia Pingtian moved the phone away and waited until Lu Shangjin finished roaring before putting it close to his ear again, “…”
Right now, he had particularly lost face in front of Lu Shangjin.
His biological younger brother had made his wife’s stomach big. Although Xia Jingtian promised him that he never did anything out of line and he believed it, it was another matter whether others believed him or not.
Word went around that his wife was missing, but Xia Jingtian had also run away and hadn’t been found till now. Thinking back now, he shouldn’t have played those little games of ‘detecting and camouflage’ with Xiao Jingzi when they were younger. That kid’s ability to draw inferences from one instance was too fucking strong.
“I won’t sign anything if I can’t find him.”
Lu Shangjin’s voice was hoarse, with an apparent trace of weakness in his smoky voice.
Young master Lu, who had always been widely known for being calm, unyielding, and capable of exercising self-restraint, had never done something so shocking before.
The two were speechless, yet couldn’t find an excuse to hang up.
Xia Pingtian immediately asked the driver to take him to Chang Hui City.
He pushed open Lu Shangjin’s office door and stepped on a document with a transparent cover under his foot.
Then, he saw that the entire ground was full of documents flying around, piled as thick as a carpet without anywhere to stand.
The few people in the office who were searching through the surveillance covered in sweat were all yelled at to get out. Lu Shangjin leaned against the sofa as he stared at the laptop with bloodshot eyes, typing away.
Xia Pingtian squatted down, picked up some documents and tossed them aside, making a path for himself to walk on. He glanced at Lu Shangjin’s laptop, and with a stiff expression, he immediately shut the laptop for him.
“Have you gone crazy?” Xia Pingtian raised his voice as he glared at him, “What are you using PBB’s authority to track location for?”
Lu Shangjin’s lips were chapped. A glass of water was on the desk, but he couldn’t be bothered to get it.
“He was taken away by Shao Wenjing. Shao Wenjing has been active outside the borders, with little data within the country. He didn’t register anything under his name at all. I can’t find out where he is without PBB’s authority.”
“I don’t think you understand the situation.” From his own laptop that he brought, Xia Pingtian opened a program icon disguised as the Minesweeper game, inserted a card and entered a string of keys.
The encrypted files inside were grouped into categories and named by number.
He opened the newest document. Within were a few blurry photos, and through the shadow of the person’s back and some habitual hand gestures, it could be identified that it was Lu Lin.
“Lu Lin has been working in the laboratory of the differentiation base and most of PBB’s current data records have already fallen into his hands. He replaced the commander-in-chief and had sent some PBB members as gland hunters to search for high-grade glands everywhere. If you use PBB’s authority, how can you be certain that he won’t follow the trail and find out that you were the one who blew up the central computer?”
“What could he do to me?” Lu Shangjin closed his eyes for a while. Being in a highly-intense state of concentration for a long time made him have a splitting headache.
He had never felt a sense of loss as clearly and frankly as he did now. Even if the little rabbit ran away from home in a huffing fit before, he was certain and confident that he would be able to coax him back.
He might have been captured and needed Lu Shangjin to bring him back home. The reason why he couldn’t receive Yan Yi’s texts must be because he had been imprisoned. The little rabbit must have missed him a lot, he just couldn’t contact him.
He was probably very scared, maybe hiding in the corner crying and shivering, needing his alpha to give him a proper hug, and use his soothing pheromones to make him feel safe.
There should have already been enough time for the little rabbit to reflect these few days.
If the little rabbit threw himself into his arms and admitted his mistake now, he would forgive him.
“You get out, let me be alone for a while.” Lu Shangjin threw his laptop aside and fell wearily on the sofa, “Xia Jingtian; I’ll remember him.”
Like being poked on a soft spot, Xia Pingtian immediately stood up and asked with a cold expression, “What do you mean.”
Lu Shangjin half opened his cold eyes, “What do you think.”
“I understand my younger brother very well. Firstly, he has never done anything out of line, and secondly, he has never interfered with your relationship. Your wife’s abortion was your own doing, is this what someone would do?”
Xia Pingtian slammed the few documents he had picked up onto the ground, “If I remember correctly, you and Yan Yi were together ten years ago. How many people have come and go by your side in recent years? You lost your wife because of yourself, what do you want to do by pushing the blame on my Jing-zi?”
“I’ll say it up front, if you dare lay a finger on my Jing-zi, we’ll sever ties immediately!”
Hearing the ruckus in the office, the assistant hurried in to break up the fight, pulling Xia Pingtian to the sofa on the other side, before bringing tea over and bowing apologetically, “President Xia, it’s been a long journey, you can take a rest in the lounge.”
His phone rang at this inappropriate time. Looking down and seeing that it was Xiao Jing-zi, Xia Pingtian couldn’t be bothered with managing his anger towards Lu Shangjin and immediately answered:
“Xiao Jing-zi, you still know how to find me!”
On the other end of the call, the voice that was originally clear had become dulled with fatigue, like he had been wearily searching for something for a long time.
“Ge, the driver said that you went to find Lu Shangjin. If he’s beside you, I’ll talk to him.”
Lu Shangjin was a step ahead as he took the phone from Xia Pingtian.
“Lu Shangjin, I want to apologize.”
“But not to you, I want to apologize to Yan Yi.”
“I shouldn’t have been entangled with Yan Yi,not letting go because of our high compatibility. I shouldn’t have asked others for his number and address, and I shouldn’t have been so self-sentimental to send him flowers.”
Xia Jingtian suddenly raised his voice, his guilt and anger erupting at the same time:
“The last thing I should have done was touch his back when he was suffering the most!”
His voice was haggard and slightly hoarse, even his roar wasn’t really menacing.
However, Lu Shangjin seemed like he was falling into an ice cave, the pores on his body felt as though the cold air was penetrating into him. He fumbled to adjust the temperature control panel on the wall to the maximum temperature for heating.
“How would I know that he would have a false pregnancy if I touched him a little? I didn’t know that, did you?” Xia Jingtian’s voice carried a hint of a choked sob that wasn’t easy to detect, “The glandular dormancy injection made him suffer so much. I gave him soothing pheromones to comfort him, and he clearly fell asleep, but he whispered ‘Jin ge’ gratefully. Who is Jin ge? Is it you, a scumbag who has never cared about him?”
“He felt so unwell that he threw up so many times in a day. What kind of strawberries did you feed him? Why don’t you fill him with a bucket of ice water and torture him to death?”
“You obviously know that he’ll eat whatever you give him. Why don’t you be a little more patient and think about what he can or cannot eat?”
“You obviously know that A3 omegas have the instincts to depend on the person who marks them. Since you don’t want to be responsible, why did you want to mark him…”
Lu Shangjin hung up the phone. He stood still, then slumped into the sofa.
He couldn’t think about anything anymore.
He just wanted the little rabbit to hurry back to his side.
He could explain that this was really a misunderstanding.
Xia Pingtian pushed his assistant to one side and sneered at Lu Shangjin, “If I were you, I would use location tracking to sweep through the entire country. Aren’t you deeply in love? Use it, then.”
A peregrine falcon alpha’s M2 ability required the connection of pheromones and the general direction to be convenient for use. In the event that the scope could not be delineated, the wider the scanning area was, the more damage would be caused by overdrawing glandular energy.
A peregrine falcon alpha’s M2 ability was mostly used for sniping and fixed-point location tracking. Which fool would exhaust their glandular energy for large-scale scanning?
Lu Shangjin’s dim eyes suddenly lit up with a trace of light.
Immediately after, pheromones exploded through the whole office. A highly-concentrated scent of narcissus overflowed alongside Lu Shangjin’s activated M2 ability.
Shao Wenjing was negligent in his most careful consideration. Even though all the security system in the villa was turned off, he still left a strand of cobweb on the doorknob. Lu Shangjin followed the wisps of poppy pheromone in search of Shao Wenjing’s presence from province to province, as well as expanding his search area to include similar pheromones in his range of suspects.
He had seen Shao Wenjing at Zhong Ling street in Nan Qi before. He had searched it long ago, but to no avail.
“Fuck.” Xia Pingtian didn’t expect that he would really be desperate enough to consume his glandular energy. Blood drained from Lu Shangjin’s face like a falling tide.
Xia Pingtian hurriedly took his phone back and called the hospital to send an ambulance immediately. There was a desperate man here dying.
When the energy stored in his glands was exhausted, Lu Shangjin knelt down, cold sweat covering his cheeks, dripping down to the solid wood floor in front of him.
Shao Wenjing had probably used some means of shielding his pheromones. In his mind, Lu Shangjin had scanned through 20 provinces and cities, but couldn’t find a trace of Shao Wenjing.
At the moment he was losing consciousness from overdrawing his glandular energy, he found pheromones similar to-
-A toddler spider omega, whose pheromones were of the devil’s snare plant.
——
The latest pheromone shield from Germany was installed in Shao Wenjing’s manor, specifically prepared to deal with Lu Shangjin. After all, he had forcibly taken away his lover long ago, it was well-chosen.
After playing billiards with some bodyguards for a while, he came back and asked for Yan Yi. The servant said he was in the underground gym.
The ventilation system in the underground gym was made very fitting without any feeling of suffocation, the scent was fresh and clean.
The gym was divided into several areas. Shao Wenjing saw Yan Yi at the equipment practice area wearing a sports tank top, concentrating on doing lat pull-downs behind his neck which weighed 200kg.
Because the maximum weight of the equipment used for alphas was only 200kg.
Although the little rabbit had become thin, one could imagine his figure during his flourishing days just by looking at the training marks on his body. The reason for the limitations of an omega’s body physique was that their muscles were not exaggerated. They were soft and rich with a sense of alluring beauty. Each time his two arms pulled down, it would drive the contour of his back to form attractive angles. Occasionally, a drop of sweat would trickle down his back into his narrow waist.
His buttocks were round and perky, his little tail moved up and down as his muscles tensed and relaxed.
After finishing the last set of exercises, Yan Yi loosened his hold and the 200kg weight crashed back down onto its original place on the rubber pad with a dull sound.
Shao Wenjing took a bottle of fresh milk and tossed it to him.
Yan Yi took it and held it in his hand as he rested for a while.
“Tired?” Shao Wenjing sat on the equipment beside him and wiped off the small beads of sweat on the tip of Yan Yi’s nose.
The sweat of omegas had no peculiar odours. Carrying the sweet fragrance of milk candy, the little rabbit was like a melting little milk candy, waiting to be wrapped in glutinous rice paper for people to enjoy.
Yan Yi unscrewed the fresh milk and drank half the bottle:
“A little tired.”
Shao Wenjing smiled in a bantering manner, “Wanna go take a bath together?”
“When will you let me go?” Yan Yi asked flatly, ignoring Shao Wenjing’s teasing.
Shao Wenjing opened his hand, “This can’t be done. I can meet all the other conditions, for example, replacing the weight of the equipment here with 250kg.”
Yanyi was silent for a moment.
“300.”
He then went to take a shower.
When he came out of the shower room, Shao Wenjing was still sitting on the sofa in the leisure area reading a fitness magazine from the book rack.
Seeing Yan Yi come out, he pulled him away and said warmly in his ear, “Iberian smoked ham has been prepared for lunch.”
Yan Yi was too lazy to even lift his eyelids, “Why didn’t you prepare roast rabbit?”
Shao Wenjing was taken aback, then laughed with knitted brows, “Apologies, I’m inconsiderate. I’ll ask them to change to a vegetarian diet.”
Yan Yi gave him a puzzled look. This spider’s temper seemed to be so good that he had no bottom line, but the danger of reaching the bottom line was always present, which was very incomprehensible.
Holding the iron railing with carved patterns that led to the first floor from the underground floor, they walked up the spiral staircase. Shao Wenjing turned and extended his hand towards Yan Yi in a gentlemanly manner.
Yan Yi paused in his steps, thinking that he was blocking the way.
“You can’t be like this.” Shao Wenjing turned around. He stood on the steps with knees bent and leaned down, placing his fingertips on Yan Yi’s lips, “Relax a little. People should learn to enjoy life, enjoy getting along with an alpha of high compatibility fit.”
The paralyzing toxin from the fingertips seeped inside along his slightly opened mouth.
Yan Yi hesitated for a moment, then placed his hand in Shao Wenjing’s palm.
The alarm of the manor rang urgently. Shao Wenjing raised his eyelids, and the exceedingly flirtatious expression in his peach blossom eyes instantly faded into a cold and sinister look.
“Go wait for me in the dining room, okay?” Shao Wenjing grasped Yan Yi’s fingers, “I’ll go out to take a look, I’ll be back soon.”
The training field area turned red on the surveillance screen, signalling that someone was seeking to cause trouble.
Shao Wenjing sent a few bodyguards over. The training ground had its own security staff, so normally, the alarm would not have been triggered.
There was only a large white snowflake on the surveillance monitor outside the training ground. It seemed that the camera inside had been damaged.
The few bodyguards with guns snuck into the training ground, as Shao Wenjing then dodged and followed inside.
The training ground was filled with the smell of blood, and the bodies of security fell in disorder at every corner.
Breaking into the training ground were seven or eight gland hunters, with an M2 piranha alpha standing at the forefront.
It seemed that Lu Shangjin hadn’t found the door yet.
Shao Wenjing relaxed a little. With the hawk blindfolded, it may be more difficult to catch the little rabbit.
Seeing Shao Wenjing indolently leaning against the iron railings, the piranha laughed, revealing a row of triangular sharp teeth, “Are you the boss here? I heard there’s an omega of M2 grade here?”
Yan Yi’s glands had been restored to M2 level. When he was playing with guns before, perhaps someone with ulterior motives had secretly detected the grade of pheromones in the air and reported it to the gland hunters.
It was necessary to pass the security check when entering the training ground. So some jobless staff who were used to getting paid for reporting higher-grade glands to get paid had probably smuggled in pheromone detectors.
Shao Wenjing answered gently, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. He may have come before, but probably already left.”
The piranha’s thick and coarse eyebrows twisted together, “Boss, don’t play with me.”
In terms of attack power, the single-combat strength of piranha alphas of similar grade was very strong. It was difficult to contend head-on with spiders, which was a species good at manipulation and confusion.
The piranha race’s J1 differentiative ability “Bone Cutting” wasn’t considered powerful, however, most alphas would shrink back at their M2 differentiative ability “bloodthirst”. Their J1 ability could be enhanced by 1% for every 1% higher concentration of blood smell in the environment.
His collar was open, revealing a blue cyan serial number branding on his neck: PBB000036.
When the security system of the training ground was triggered, every ammunition box was automatically locked and retrieved to avoid causing secondary injuries.
Shao Wenjing couldn’t let them take away the A3 lop-eared rabbit that he had only been able to get after racking his brains.
Suddenly, footsteps came from behind, and a figure forcefully bounced off of the iron railing by his hand.
Yan Yi’s hands were wrapped in bandages, each holding a Tachi sword that he had just picked from the vertical wall as he lightly leaped off the high platform without any expression.
A halo of gold edges traced out the leaping figure under the lighting, the blade reflecting a blindingly cold light.
Shao Wenjing’s eyes locked on Yan Yi as the blade from high in the air slashed down and stabbed into the piranha’s shoulder without any hesitation. Blood spurted out onto Yan Yi’s pale cheeks.
He wasn’t afraid of the increase in the piranha’s J1 ability from the smell of blood at all. A powerful frontal attack, a deadly move.
Like a red-dyed poppy, a cluster of violent and enchanting flowers bloomed in Shao Wenjing’s heart.
