Lop-Eared Guard - CH 58
Lu Shangjin couldn’t move after climbing into the transformed submarine. He held the incubator stiffly while slowly touching the control panel with his fingers. Mixed with seawater, the blood flowing out from his body dripped down the panel into the cracks.
Xia Jingtian flipped inside from the water barrier door and buckled the protective belt to tie the little bunny to the folding board. He then sat in the driver’s seat and quickly operated the control panel.
“If you can’t operate it, I’ll take over.” Lu Shangjin stared at the entrance of the base through the bulletproof water barrier glass, where a large number of security forces soldiers followed their trail.
“Don’t worry. I even won the grand prize in the school UAV competition.”
As the transformed submarine started, it simultaneously received gravity manipulation and rose extremely fast. The pressure balance speed in the cabin was less than the ascent speed and the external pressure sharply descended, making Lu Shangjin nearly suffocate with a mouthful of blood in his throat.
Curled up on the folding board, the little grey bunny tightly grasped the protective belt. Rabbits themselves were easily frightened. The tip of the little grey bunny’s nose made little twitches, and his small ears that were wet from the seawater plastered listlessly against his neck as water dripped.
Propped up on the ground, Lu Shangjin sat closer. He twisted the little grey bunny’s ears and wiped the seawater inside dry.
Water can’t get into little rabbits’ ears.
The transformed submarine rushed out of the sea and immediately activated the drain valve. The propeller moved up the track, and the helicopter painted with the peregrine falcon family emblem swung the flowing water to accelerate the ascent before it disappeared beyond the sea horizon.
At low altitude, there were a dozen or so lion-print fighter jets escorting the aircraft, and at a glance, it was clear that Xia Pingtian brought them over.
Lu Shangjin ripped off his torn armed clothing on his upper body, leaving only a tight wet black undershirt. It clung to each of the clearly delineated muscle contours of his back and abdomen; three bloody claw marks were left from his right shoulder to his back contour.
He bit open the seal of the injection gun and stuck a shot of epinephrine and a shot of antidote into the varicose veins in his arm. The veins of his neck were taut and red, and sweat mixed with seawater flowed down his Adam’s apple into the deep hollows of his collarbones.
After waiting for a moment, Lu Shangjin threw Xia Jingtian an antidote.
Xia Jingtian was operating the helicopter breathlessly, “Don’t move. I’m busy, fuck.”
Lu Shangjin took a deep breath, “…there’s auto-navigation.”
Xia Jingtian was stunned for a moment before pressing the button for auto-navigation.
The helicopter flight gradually smoothed out.
Xia Jingtian finally slumped with relief in the driver’s seat. He flipped open his sleeves, where his forearm scraped out by the scale armour dripped with black blood, the edges soaked white by the seawater.
It was still okay not looking at the wound, but taking a glance at it made him instantly feel the excruciating pain. He fumbled to pick up the antidote needle gun on the ground, pointed the tip of the needle at the blood vessels in his own forearm, trembled as he aligned it, before he gritted his teeth and injected it in.
The quick-acting antidote worked within three seconds and quickly reacted with the toxins that entered his body.
The saliva of the komodo dragon carried toxins which had been enhanced correspondingly in combination with the A3 glands. The quick-acting antidote could only temporarily inhibit the spread of the toxin, so he had to go to the nearest hospital to clean the wound and inject the antidote serum.
Xia Jingtian clutched his injured forearm and felt that the pain was unbearable even if he loosened his strength a little. The wound was painful and itchy, like a few wriggling prickly caterpillars were scattered on the cut.
“Ow- I fucking…” Xia Jingtian tumbled down from the driver’s seat, tightly clutched his forearm with swelling blood vessels and rolled on the ground. He curled up and desperately endured it.
He looked up at Lu Shangjin. Lu Shangjin’s tight fitting black undershirt had many tears. His abdomen and back were etched with fine teeth marks that slowly oozed out poisoned blood.
The three claw marks alongside each other on his shoulder were the most seriously wounded, with faintly visible white bones in the out-turned flesh and blood.
He looked at the sea level, a layer of melancholy indifference floated over his frosty gaze that Xia Jingtian couldn’t understand.
Like noticing a mouse, Lu Shangjin felt the gaze hit him and he silently turned his eyes back and glanced at Xia Jingtian.
“What’re you looking at.” Xia Jingtian sat up and tried his best to pretend that it didn’t hurt that much.
Lu Shangjin felt out a compressed cookie from under the folding board and threw it into the space between Xia Jingtian’s legs, a ridiculing look in his eyes, “Cat food.”
The expression on Xia Jingtian’s face looked even worse, “Lion.”
“It’s the same thing before you’re grown up,” Lu Shangjin tore open the bag of compressed cookies, broke off a piece and stuffed it into the little grey bunny’s mouth, “You’re still far from it.”
Slightly tired, Lu Shangjin sat on the side of the folding board and leaned against the inner wall. The abnormal stiff whiteness on his face did not ease much because of the injection of the antidote.
He closed his eyes to alleviate the side effects of overuse of his “extreme vision”.
But as soon as he closed his eyes, the komodo dragon came back to his mind as well as the glands pulsating on the back of its neck; it was Ye Wan.
He still remembered his father’s exhortation on his deathbed.
“Don’t let Yan Yan become like me and be sad until the end that he would even forget where the heart is.”
Lu Shangjin opened his eyes, picked up the little grey bunny who was eating the compressed cookies in small bites, and touched his cheek.
The little mouth of the little grey bunny that was seriously chewing on a cookie paused, blinking his big eyes as he looked at Lu Shangjin.
Omegas were beautiful pure little things; they were either careful and cautious, or gentle and powerful. Why were they preyed on as a natural resource? As reproductive machines to become reproduction tools and fighting machines for the superiors? Even for an A3 grade omega, it would be difficult to compete against a large number of predators.
“There should be someone to protect you.” This thought swept through Lu Shangjin’s mind.
“Hm? Then become enemies with the world’s biggest plutocrats?” Xia Jingtian languidly pillowed the hand that was still intact, “It’s like my dream in my second grade of middle school. I thought it was so cool at the time that the lovely omegas were angels to all of mankind.”
“By the way, what on earth does your father really want?”
“Lu Lin is an arms lunatic. My father is Ye Wan.” Lu Shangjin hated the fact that the blood in his body originated from someone as disgusting as Lu Lin.
The Lu family made a fortune in the arms business. It was the family’s tradition to make fortune from calamity and war up until Lu Shangjin’s generation, when he abandoned that life and made only superficial changes.
It seemed that Lu Lin intended to return to his old business, this time targeting biological weapons with a global reach.
The two men had different thoughts in their minds.
Xia Jingtian had leaned on the other side and fell in a daze, and was now scrolling through his phone. Not even a trace of communication record was left. The last piece of news with Gu Wei was the chat in the middle of the night when he rescued Yan Yi.
“Gu Wei …… Gu.” Xia Jingtian scratched his hair, wanting to ask his brother, but deleted it after typing a line in the message box.
He might as well go to the bar and ask himself.
The security forces of the submarine base pursued them to the edge of the set range and were then given the order to disarm the alarm.
Lu Lin stared at the distant helicopter on the screen in the main control room.
The results of this experiment were barely satisfactory. He thought that using his son’s pheromone excitation could promote Ye Wan’s gland to upgrade again, or fuse with the komodo dragon as one.
“Wan Wan…” Lu Lin stared at the komodo dragon that was brutally tearing up the test bench on another monitor screen and said with disappointment, “You’re getting weaker. You were invincible before.”
“You’re not beautiful anymore.” He regrettably recited again.
Deep in the main control room there was a prison cage with three electric grids stacked on one side. Inside the prison cage held an alpha, hands handcuffed. He was in a wretched situation, but still appeared extraordinarily imposing.
The alpha in the cage folded his hands on the table top lowered by the interrogation chair and snorted with a laugh, “When you once chased after Ye Wan you were so romantic that it made people’s scalp numb. I thought you wouldn’t do that to him, at least.”
Lu Lin turned his swivel chair and held the gold wired frame of his glasses lightly, “Ye Wan is a charming omega, but it doesn’t stop me from doing more important things.”
The alpha chuckled softly, “The most important thing you can do is to turn an international peacekeeping organization into a private arsenal.”
When he smiled, his two canine teeth showed, and his eyes glowed with light green luminescence. His glandular type was a Kenai Mountain Wolf.
“I found that the freezer’s security system and vent access had been opened remotely.” Lu Lin leaned in the swivel chair leisurely with his long legs folded and said with composure, “The highest authority had been utilized.”
“Apart from you… chief commander Gu, who, in the end, still has the highest authority.” Lu Lin’s voice was soft and gentle, making one feel absolutely creeped out, “Could it be that your two sons are not dead yet?”
Lu Lin raised his pistol, “If there are other people in this world who can use the highest authority of PBB, I really don’t need to keep you for so long.”
“Gu Yuanzhi, this is the last time I will ask.” Lu Lin laughed softly, “I will find him. A waste of awakening mutation, a disgrace to the Gu family. Is that right.”
“He’s not a disgrace.” Gu Yuanzhi smiled, “He’s my pride.”
Lu Lin pulled the trigger until the bullet exploded through his skull, and Gu Yuanzhi stayed still.
It was already May. The sun was burning on their skins and the Chinese roses in the garden outside the villa were in full bloom.
Ambulance was parked around Lu Shangjin’s villa and two rescue helicopters sent by An Fei Ya were waiting outside the courtyard.
Bi Ruijing was smoking against his Ferrari, while Xia Pingtian couldn’t even bother to smoke. He kicked the chassis of the rescue helicopter and hurled all kinds of curses, “That little brat, I’ll skin him alive when he comes back! He’s become so fucking capable. All the hair hasn’t even grown on his body and yet he still wants to be some bullshit hero saving the beauty. I told him, don’t let me catch a hold of him, or I’ll squish him to death, fuck!”
There was blue black under Xia Pingtian’s eyes. In the past, there were fine lines at the corner of his flirtatious and amorous eyes, but he seems to have become several years old in just a few days.
When he heard that Xia Jingtian didn’t go back to school and followed Lu Shangjin to the Pacific Ocean, he almost fainted on the spot and sent someone to chase him. However, he was late after all and watched the helicopter with the printed peregrine falcon family emblem enter the sea.
Bi Ruijing gently spat out smoke, “Your Lu ge is here, though. He has a sense of propriety, he’ll definitely bring the family’s favourite baby back as he is.”
“That’s right! Someone saving his wife is perfectly justifiable, but this ancestor of our family wants to join the damn excitement.’ Xia Pingtian gritted his teeth and rolled up his sleeves, constantly looking down at his watch, “Xia Jingtian deserves to be tied up at home, beaten every day, and not allowed to eat. If I don’t break his leg today, I’ll take his fucking last name.”
A distant buzzing sound approached and a helicopter slowly landed on the helipad on top of the villa.
Ten minutes later, Xia Jingtian came out first. He wore a broken bulletproof vest tactical belt, held a child in his left hand and the incubator in his right, like a new recruit back home for the New Year.
Xia Pingtian’s eyes suddenly became hot. After Xia Jingtian handed over the incubator and the little grey bunny to Dr. Zhong, he came over and stood in front of him with a heartless and provocative smile, “Hey, ge, you look like a real pussy with this look, like you want to cry but not crying out.”
Xia Pingtian closed his eyes, rubbed his temples, and got into the car without saying a word.
When Lu Shangjin went downstairs, he grabbed a windbreaker jacket and put it on to cover up his numerous wretched bruises.
He watched as Dr. Zhong led several nurses to urgently escort the stem cells to the rescue helicopter and held Bi Ruijing’s shoulders to take a breather.
Bi Ruijing helped him walk towards the helicopter, “Awesome, you single-handedly broke into PBB. You can boast about this for a lifetime.”
“Not really alone.” Lu Shangjin raised his hand and bumped his fist with Bi Ruijing, “The little kitten also helped a little.”
Lu Shangjin had been holding on to stay awake and after arriving at An Fei Ya, he didn’t let the emergency nurses come near him and stood alone in the hall waiting.
When Yan Yi was pushed out, he followed him and repeatedly wiped his palms clean on his clothes. He followed after him while gently grasping Yan Yi’s hand.
“Ge will wait for you outside.” Lu Shangjin looked at him gently, his heart so soft that he couldn’t wait for Yan Yi to wake up and knead it flat and round any way he wished.
There was also a failure rate in glandular stem cell cloning and transplantation. Stem cells couldn’t divide into glands independently, and there must be a human with the corresponding genotype as the carrier to complete the differentiation. If the carrier rejection reaction occurred, the stem cells and the carrier human would die together.
It was only when the door of the operating room was closed that Lu Shangjin loosened his bowstrings. Eyes blurry, he slowly slid to the ground with his back against the wall. The bandage that he had just wrapped on the rescue helicopter was soaked again by the blood oozing from the wound.
