Lost Legacies - Chapter 4: Chapter 4: "Beginner adventurer"
After Hugh decided to read all the books to get an identity card and have a place to sleep he tried
Finding all kind of medicinal plants, in no way was it safe but its was safer than hunting and exploring dangerous places.
“Huff huff”
Hugh was climbing a pretty small cliff so he could find some good plants of poison and medicine poison was pretty sought after in the black market for obvious reasons,
after climbing for 10 minutes he found 2 uncommon plants they where used in medicine they where called “Himbus Cicadas” he didn’t care to read why they where called like that instead he was interested in the effects and price on the market they costed at most 10 credits
“Hehe now i can get a place to sleep, the hotels costed about 10 to 8 credits a week so now i can sleep soundly without fearing of someone robbing me”
Hugh just noticed how his physical strength is very good and its like a full grown adult’s
its pretty useful in situations like this, After getting is hands on the 2 plants he noticed a small crevice he heard some weird sounds coming from “SsssSs”That’s when Hugh knew, he fu**ed up.
(if the snake is poisonous and bites me if i fall its doesn’t matter but the poison will most probably kill me)
Hugh thought of jumping when he saw that the snake stopped in it tracks and was fleeing after seeing Hugh
“i wonder why did the snake run away, well its doesn’t matter i can now climb down this wretched place”
Said Hugh relieved after 10 of climbing down he gets going and look for more plants, after 1 day of looking for plants he found 10 common plants 5 of “Red Gargant” that where poisonous in the black market it cost between 2 to 4 credits, 5 of “Wurmonk Flower” that where medicinal plants for normal people its cost 2 each and found 3 more uncommon medicinal plants called “Green Petulas” that had magical effect each cost 15 credits
“Pfuaaaa i’m tiiired, lets go and find a place to sleep”
Its can be said that Hugh was sleeping in the slums for 4 days because he found some other books to read and after the fourth day the librarian told Hugh to leave because he was stinky and smelly so he had no choice, but to find some plants, he did find 15 plants that he sold for a total of 60 credits.
He rented a room in one of the decent hotels for 1 month, its costed a total of 39 credits while he had 21 to use as his own and bought some food whit that its had in total 15 credits he bought 3 weapons 1 spear and 2 dagger the spear cost 8 C while the daggers where 4 C.
“Awww man now a well deserved bath time, i wonder if i can use the weapons correctly if not then i gotta get myself one of those :Guns: i saw some people use them in town for some kind of contest and man, where they powerful”
Said Hugh while in the bath to lose time after 20 min of bathing he got out and slept naked,
he still didn’t want to buy clothes they where useless in fight and he didn’t have enough money to buy a full set of leather armor he though of buying the chest piece and the pants so he should be protected, Hugh decided tomorrow morning he will buy the pieces of armor
(I wonder who my parents where i don’t know why i never thought before this problem am…..
why is it that i don’t feel empathy toward others or is it just survival instinct ?)
Hugh was wondering about things before going to sleep, when morning came he got his clothes on and started going to the market to see if there are any good quality armor, he found some hard but elastic armor that was good against physical and magical attacks but he didn’t know what material they where made of.
“Well then lets begin another day of plant hunting hehe”
Said Hugh while looking at the dawn of the sun and walking toward the forest he saw many people coming out and going in the forest some where adventurers whit robotic looking arms and some whit shining leather armor.
There where many other occupations like Hugh plant searchers and Explorers that where going in very deep in forests its seems they get paid better at the start because they have all kinds of gadgets on them that make some weird noises some times
(Where might be those guys that told me to run…. they probably died, ohh well that’s life)
When Hugh was in town he saw many other type of people like thief’s Hugh thought that they where cowards because by going to find some plants they could just get enough money to live normally but he was wrong because every plant that is pretty good for credits is mostly protected by
powerful monsters or just at hard to reach places.
The problem at hand was he didn’t know what to pursue after all he only wanted to have a place to live and to be honest he didn’t really care about the card.
“why do guild even exist if they don’t do that much”
Murmured Hugh while passing by one of the adventurers
“Hey you over there”
on of the adventurers approached Hugh and told him
“Guilds are in fact not used as they where 80 years ago they where used to post problems of other little villages like a monster horde or plant searching requests but after A man named Switzz Honderlan made a gadget that could connect other people to other gadgets that when he named it the NETWORK its like a spiders net where you connect to others to talk and Post Requests and emergency requests like a monster horde of any kind of class for monsters”
Hugh seemed surprised that a stranger helped him
“Th-Thank you i-i didn’t think you would hear me murmuring”
Said Hugh while looking away embarrassed scratching his head
“Well it okay and if you want to get the gadget you can buy it at a Guild for like 800 credits and it worth that much credit to be honest its very helpful and you can see requests and accept them if you got a Guild Card” said the man smiling
“Uhm what’s a Guild Card ?” Asked Hugh confused
“Aww man i met a total newbie today haha”
Said the man while holding his head and laughing
“its a Card that lets you see your rank in the Network of any guild you can select which type of user you are, Quint user, Essence user or Legacie User if you got 1 of the user and you must be honest don’t lie because you might get in jail because of that.”Said the man seriously
“Some hackers used a loophole in the system and stole some information from the database its was like 20 years ago so from that day on it punishable if you lie about your user type”
“Thanks, have a nice day”
Hugh was down after he heard the man calling him a newbie, But he didn’t retort its was the truth he was a newbie and he couldn’t change the fact that he still had a lot to learn.
After parting ways whit the adventurer he saw the other guys scold the guy who talked whit him
“Johnathan why did you help him” asked one of the man”you know what we went trough and you still had time to talk to some trash.”
“I know William we got scamed by some bastards that sold us the gadgets and lost on of our teammates because of that… but i still dont want others to go trough that experience”Retorted Johnathan
William let go of the let go of the subject after hearing what Johnathan said.
“Ohh so hes called Johnathan and that other rude fellow William… i will remember their names”
murmured Hugh after entering the forest.
