Love Amidst The Chaos - -14 Chapter Four

“So you’re the freak my father is after, unlucky you, today is going to be your last.” I commented staring at the girl in front of me while pulling out my lint gun. She looks younger than me and seems the type to constantly bad styling choices. She was wearing a flowery top, pink baggy trousers and ballerina shoes with her curly brown hair in a messing bun.
“You must mistake me for my cousin over there,”she said pointing in the opposite direction. Turning around, my gaze fell on a rare sight dressed in black from head to toe which drew attention to her aiming skills. She was dressed in skinny black jeans, black boots that reached just under her knee accompanied with a black turtle neck jumper.
“The girl next to her is my sister,” she added breaking me from my thoughts and getting me to finally notice there’s another girl next to her. Now she was more reversed, a little more princess looking; she carried herself with grace and flair causing me to doubt the creature I saw seconds before was the princess my father finally told me about an hour before we launched our attack, which I must add is going really well; maybe my father was right about this being our breakthrough.
“Are you going to fight or are you going to stare till this is over,” something teased, the lump of quirkiness behind me must have noticed me staring and decided to comment about it.
“Believe me, I think it’s a compliment to check out my sister but aren’t you here to kill us?”
“Your sister, you think I’m checking out your sister! You must be out of your mind!”
“You don’t have to pretend, I won’t judge she’s beautiful and ladylike even a monster would fall in love with her at first sight.”
“I am not interested in your sister, believe me, you know what I’ll show you.” I ran to the girl before quirk had a chance to react, catching the girl by surprise before shooting her right in the chest.
“SIS!” the doll screamed as her dying sister bled to death, tears running down her face, as the other girl tried her best to reduce the amount of blood being lost.
It’s crazy how capable to she was to remain composed whilst crying. She pulled out her lint sword, anger in her eyes as she came over to me. The rain picked up and the wind quickened. Subconsciously, I pulled my lint sword and charged.
“Ara!”
So that’s the name of who I killed.
Three people came running to the still bleeding body. A middle aged man with grey-streaked brown hair, a younger woman, pale and bony. Behind them was an elderly lady with faded black hair, warm, smooth skin.
She radiated a brave and strong air of defiance powerful enough to throw one’s thoughts off-balance.
I was again pulled out of my thoughts, this time by the being in front of me. She looked so determined to bring me to my last breath as she tried to strike me with her lint only to be stopped by mine.
I really must say she is so good at handling a sword, I mean using a gun is one thing but attacking your your enemy while trying to block the person’s attacks in a swordfight calls was a sport that required great skills especially whilst using the most dangerous weapon ever known to mankind. Unlike normal swords instead of bleeding when cut by sword’s blade, the organ it hits dissolves. Therefore, users needed training to be able to keep fighting without the sword touching their skin. It was clear she was almost as skillful as me.
Almost. No one is as skillful as me. I am so talented I can do it without paying attention. Which reminds me I should probably start paying more attention to the fight instead of thinking and smirking like a freak.
“As pleasant as this is to watch, I really must stop you there, you see the princess is who we came for and now that she’s dead, we really must take our leave. Good job son, I should have let you join our attacks a long time ago.”
“Dad you can’t be serious-”
“I am, son”
“You don’t get it, she’s-”
“Son, I get it you don’t want to spare anyone but we really must get going, we have some celebrating to do.” I sighed, giving up on trying to tell him that thing dying is not the princess, I will have to tell him later. I mean he’s in a very good mood for the first time in like ever, why ruin it now. I’m sure the truth can wait for a day or two.

I couldn’t take it anymore, as much I wanted my dad to stay happy, he had to know the truth. I couldn’t bare to celebrate something not worth celebrating. I really didn’t want to be the party-pooper, but I just couldn’t. He had to know.
Ever since yesterday, we’ve done nothing but celebrate. I have to be honest it was beyond fun finally being recognised. I had everything right where I wanted and I was determined not to do anything to change things.
Everything was perfect the way it was. I was the centre of attention. I was happy. He was happy.
However, I couldn’t push the guilt that built up in soul aside. I pondered and pondered on how to tell him. How to say it. I couldn’t be blunt. I would look at his smile, a rare sight, and quiver in fear. Fear of the unknown.
“Come here son, everything is over, enjoy the celebration and stop thinking of those animals. We are doing them a favour by sparing their lives, besides we are only after the ‘gifteds’ which they are not. We’ve got what we want. We’ve won.”
“We’ve not won dad, the person I killed wasn’t the princess. I know she acts like a princess but she isn’t really royalty.”
“And how do you know that?”
“Her sister told me, the girl with the flowery attitude and outfit.”
“But if she isn’t who is?”
“Her cousin, the monochrome girl I was trying to kill before you stopped me. I tried to explain but you just weren’t having it.”
“You must be joking.”
“I know I should have told you sooner but you were really happy and I didn’t want to ruin that.”
“So you thought making me look like a fool was a better choice. That’s the problem with you, you have no guts. You never had ambition like I did. You lacked the confidence I did. I was right. You are not ready and might never be.”
He was right I had no guts. I wanted to scream, to tell him otherwise, to show him that I capable of doing everything he was. I searched inside for the guts he had but couldn’t. It wasn’t there. Nothing was there. I was a disgrace. Nothing more. After what felt like a million years of silence, my dad finally spoke up.
“I have a plan. You my son are going to get the star role. Hopefully, this time you’ll do a better job. Do not disgrace me, or worse disgrace your mother.”
