Love Doesn’t Matter - Chapter 26 – Venting
Chapter 26 – Venting
“What about a creamy-colored satin with flower decorations?”
“It’s pretty.”
“Or what about a paisley pattern? It will look very elegant with draping.”
“… I see.”
Realizing that her voice was too unenthusiastic, Emilia felt sorry for the owner of the boutique. She has been seeing and hearing many things for quite a long time, so she was just getting confused.
“Party dresses are very complicated.”
Vinette, the boutique owner, kept feeling a smile coming out of her mouth.
Her eyes briefly wandered between the big man and the contrasting skinny, freckled boy, standing behind the girl. The three suddenly came into the boutique an hour ago.
They triumphantly showed a bunch of money, saying they needed a dress to wear to the Countess’ ball. It was an absurdly insufficient amount to get a party dress. Nevertheless, it was entirely because of that child that Vinette took the time to spare.
“Don’t get me wrong by any chance. I don’t mean that the dresses aren’t pretty. I’ve never seen such beautiful dresses. It’s just because I’ve never worn this type of clothes before.”
That kind hearted lady who is deeply sorry.
“I’m taking too much of Miss Vinette precious time, aren’t I?”
Vinette felt sad for some reason.
The ladies who visit this place stay at least half a day. They carelessly touch the items on display as if the store was theirs, or they sit down and treat Vinette like a maid and have her run personal errands.
An hour is nothing…
With that thought in mind, Vinette said something unexpected.
“How about this?”
She pulled out a dress from the inside.
“It was completed a few days ago. Would you like to try it on? I think it will fit because the build is similar to Miss Bern’s.”
“Even so… Can I?”
Of course not. The owner will be very displeased if they know that the finished dress was dressed on someone else first. However, compassion took away Vinette’s judgment for a moment.
“Just keep it a secret.”
Vinette frowned and took Emilia into the changing room.
It was a creamy-colored silk dress with lace. It was the kind of clothes that the girl couldn’t even buy half of with the money she brought.
‘But if we go cheap on the materials, it is possible.’
Thinking that she could make it, Vinette put the dress on her.
When Emilia, who had changed her clothes, came out to the showroom, both Mitch and Beppy, who were looking around, had no choice but to completely open their mouths. Vinette also let out an exclamation.
“Oh my, I thought anything would suit you well but… I really have no words! Wait, wait, here…”
Vinette was more delighted and put all kinds of accessories on her, such as hairpins and bracelets, and only then did Emilia feel a bit excited.
“Emilia, this is it! Let’s go with this!”
Mitch looked back at Vinette, excited.
“How much will it be to make this?”
The answer that followed poured cold water on the excitement. It was a price that they couldn’t even dare to pay, so Mitch and Emilia had no choice but to blink.
“Damn it! How can a piece of fabric…”
Mitch grumbled. Naturally, his disagreement is directed at Hadius.
“That cheap bastard, shouldn’t he buy you the clothes? We came here because of someone… He’s like a petty cheapskate…”
Emilia gave her brother a warning look. Mitch noticed that the nagging, which he had heard for several days, was about to begin again and pouted.
“I get it, you don’t want to get a single penny from that damn family. Are you going to say this again?”
The grumbling Mitch looked around the boutique packed with dresses.
“But the clothes the aristocrats wear are this expensive. As expected, a revolution must happen. Stepping on the powerless, those damn… Hmp!”
Startled, Emilia shut her brother’s mouth.
“My younger brother is a little… Noisy? Haha…”
Vinette laughed, saying it was okay, and Emilia gently released her hand. Mitch smacked his lips and straightened up his body, which had been overpowered by his sister.
“My sister is not normal either. She’s going to dance at a ball with such a bastard…”
What would happen if she told that child about the day of the heavy rain?
He might tear up the dress, asking if the breadcrumbs are that good.
Emilia became depressed somehow, like a fickle person.
Thinking that the customer’s complexion had darkened rapidly because the price was too high, Vinette made another unexpected remark.
“I can make it cheaper. Just half the price. Of course, not in silk, but in satin, and it can’t have even half the lace.”
“Ah, is that so?”
“It may not be as pretty as what you are wearing right now, but you will stand out no matter what you wear. Because your face is so pretty. Clothes can’t beat the face.”
Emilia looked down pleasantly at the fabric wrapped around her.
“Alright, please do that.”
“You won’t regret it. I will make you look very pretty.”
Vinette smiled wide and released the flower-decorated choker that was around Emilia’s neck. Seeing that, Mitch suddenly looked sorry.
“Damn it, Emilia, just wait a bit. When I grow up and make money, I will buy you 10 dresses like this one.”
Emilia wrinkled her nose as she pinched the little boy’s cheek.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
“Now, will come inside for a moment? I have to take measurements.”
Emilia, who was following Vinette, suddenly realized that Beppy had watched all these conversations.
Beppy promised that he wouldn’t run to Hadius without saying anything again, but you never know. She doesn’t know when he will run to Nowak and tell him about this again.
Saying something like, ‘Emilia buy cheap dress. Emilia buy cheap…’
At that moment, Emilia’s eyes were filled with force. What she wants the least in the world is to receive another ‘compensation’ from Hadius. She quickly looked back at Beppy.
“Mister, I’m warning you in advance, but if you go to the Young Master again and talk about what happened today, I will be really angry.”
He blinked his eyes as if he didn’t know what she was talking about.
“What I mean is don’t snitch on me.”
“What?! Snitch?!”
Beppy suddenly screamed. Emilia, as well as Mitch and Vinette, were startled.
“Beppy is not a snitch! Not a snitch! I protect Emilia! Protect! I don’t keep an eye!”
Beppy was excessively angry. Besides, she didn’t even say the words ‘keep an eye’…
“Beppy is not a snitch…!”
“I-I get it. I get it, Mister. You are absolutely not a snitch. You are a nice person who protects me.”
Emilia quickly calmed down the freaked-out man.

At the same time, there was a commotion in the boutique, someone was watching them through the windows.
It was Shayla, the youngest daughter of the Cavendish family. She too had come downtown to get a dress fitted.
“Young Lady, would you like to go here too?”
“Huh? … No.”
Shayla quickly moved her feet.
“Let us go home at once, Mia. I must hurry. An important guest from Nowak came today. Father told me to stay neat and wait.”
However, the pace towards the carriage kept getting slower and heavier. Because of Emilia, who was perfectly dressed in her party dress just a moment ago.
Is she going to attend Mrs. Lüen’s ball? Dressed like that? She thought that a cunning child like her wouldn’t attend.
But why is she trying on a dress? She won’t have a partner anyway…
Shayla, who was frowning, stopped for a moment. She knew the answer.
Nathan Malvin.
Recently, she has seen Emilia and that man close to each other many times. On top of that, Nathan even dared to get his visiting card checked, humiliating her father. There was a strange rumor going on concerning the two of them.
Although most of the servants, including the servant at the door, said it was Nathan Malvin’s one-sided feeling, Shayla’s thoughts were different. How can there be a ‘one-sided thing’ between men and women? Surely Emilia Bern must have given him a reason.
She’s a venomous and sly kid. She must have behaved lavishly and wagged her tail secretly behind everyone’s backs.
People say that Emilia is being discriminated against because she is a commoner, but, in Shayla’s point of view, she is more highly regarded than necessary exactly because she is a commoner.
She speaks well even though she is a commoner, she has a pretty face even though she is a commoner, she is smart even though she is a commoner… How bad will she be at Mrs. Lüen’s ball?
The whole time she was going home, Shayla’s lips twitched. She was angry and irritated enough to grind her teeth.
And when she got home, an unexpected person to vent on appeared. It was an old man, her Father’s precious guest.
