Love Is A Sweet Poison - Chapter 56 56 Breakfast Confession
“Good morning, Mother Edna. Nothing bad happened. Father Clarence brought my file home and we were discussing you and Miyuki reading it. I think it would be a good idea so that you two know what to look for.” Amelia got out of the chair and walked over to Edna. “Do you not have a tea ceremony this morning?”
“I do but I wanted to check on you first and now that I see that you are doing okay I will take my leave. After the ceremony, we will make wagashi. I know that you are excited about that. Please eat something for breakfast and when I am done I will come and find you.” Edna bowed and left the room.
“Ah, my sweet wife is so strong. She was really worried about you. That you were in an unfamiliar place and that you might not be able to sleep but this is between us.” Clarence winks and smiles.
Amelia giggles and covers her mouth. “So you both are really happy that I am here? I am grateful that you both like me being here. When we went to the shrine yesterday we got the best dates to hold the wedding. Did Edna speak with you about it?”
“She did. I think that we should hold the ceremony here at the house. Edna ordered the maids to pull out the outfits for you to look at. Miyuki, I will leave you in charge of this one. Watch her closely. This is the file that you can read over. If there is anything that you do not understand please do not hesitate to ask and I will explain it to you. I am off for the day. I will see you all in the evening.” Clarence bowed and left the room.
Amelia turned around walking to Miyuki and patted her on the back. “It really will be okay. I already feel a lot better than yesterday. I was worried that I would suffer more before recovering but that is not the case this time. It will be okay.”
Miyuki sat up and looked at Amelia, “you are so sweet. I just do not like the idea of you not being well. That is why I am freaking out. Sorry, I will go and get your breakfast also I would like to read your file even if it makes me emotional.”
“Alright. I will be here working on the embroidery for Gabriel.” Amelia picked up the second shade of blue and started to stitch it in and she looked at the product. ‘This is going to hopefully be done by the end of the day tomorrow. I do not want to delay the finishing of this as I do not know when he could return.’ She blushed and covered her face. ‘Come on Amelia you need to not think like this.’
Miyuki came back into the room after knocking and watched Amelia before giggling. “You are so adorable. I want to know about your first encounter with the Young Master.”
“The first meeting. Okay, I do not mind telling you.” Amelia sat down at the kotatsu*. “Itadakimasu.”
Miyuki had laid all of the plates on the table and sat next to Amelia and laid out her meal. “Itadakimasu. So spill.”
Amelia ate an egg roll and blushed. “Because of my condition I went to the library a lot and there was always a young man studying the books that I had or was going to look at. It is hard to look at medical books as they do not take me seriously but I do really read them. That was when I first noticed him. I never found out his name. All I knew is that we were looking at the same things.”
“That is not at all what I was expecting. Is there more?” Miyuki ate her fish and rice while listening closely.
“Ah, you know that Gabriel went to a marriage meeting this past weekend? I was also forced to go to one. Not because of my family but for my father’s job. Even though I went they still fired him but that is a different story. So, I was mumbling to myself and Gabriel answered my thoughts. He even picked a flower petal out of my hair. That was when I fell for him harder than I thought I would. I tried to hold back but he filled my thoughts and then I got sick but we are now together. I guess the red string of fate brought us together and I could not be any happier.” Amelia covered her face blushing again.
“That is surprisingly very sweet. I am glad that you are the one that I get to take care of. While you are making wagashi with Madam, I will be doing the cleaning. My main job is to look after you so I will do everything that I can to make sure that you are safe.” Miyuki smiles and drinks her miso soup.
“What did you do before I came here? I am curious.” Amelia looked at Miyuki expecting something interesting.
“I do not know what you are expecting but I was in charge of helping the Young Master by keeping his study clean and tidying up his room. There are some things in someone’s life that you do not want to intrude on. I would wait for him to return back home to see what secrets he could be keeping.” Miyuki smiles and finishes off the food on her plate.
Amelia giggles, “secrets? I look forward to seeing what might be hidden. I am sure that things will come to light once he returns home. Until then, I will wait for him to tell me. I am glad that I got to see the study. I think until Mother Edna is done I will do some light reading.” Amelia transferred all but one egg roll over to Miyuki’s dish. She then eats the last piece and places her chopsticks down. “Gochisosama.”
“Thank you, Amelia.” Miyuki eats the egg rolls. “Gochisosama. I will clear this away and in about an hour or two Madam will be done. Do you want me to stay here or may I start my duties?”
“You are free to do your duties, just make sure you come back before Mother Edna comes.” Amelia laid down on the tatami mats and pulled out the medical book.
*Kotatsu-is a low, wooden table frame covered by a futon, or heavy blanket, upon which a tabletop sits. Underneath is a heat source, formerly a charcoal brazier but now electric, often built into the table itself.
