Love Is A Sweet Poison - Chapter 71
Irene looked at Amelia and sighed. “Oh, my baby girl is all grown up. This is amazing. I think that you picked the right one. Now, what style of headcover were you thinking?”
Edna carried the first one over and looked at Amelia. “You have such beautiful long hair. I do not know which one to choose.” She held the first one up.
“Not that one Mother Edna.” Amelia elegantly glides across the tatami mats and looks at the headcovers and stops at once. She bends down and picks it up. “This one.”
Edna looks at the one in her hands and smiles. “Yes, I think that you are right, it is simply lovely. I think that it will match the s.h.i.+romuku well.” She walks over and takes the headcover and holds it up over Amelia’s head. “Irene isn’t this simply divine?”
“Amelia, it looks absolutely stunning. I can not believe that you will really be getting married. Edna, you are amazing and thank you for preparing all these s.h.i.+romuku.” Irene smiles while holding back her tears.
“Irene, it was not a big issue for me. I am happy that I could help even just a little bit.” Edna lowers the headcover and places it in the, it has been selected area in the banquet room. “Okay, we will hang the s.h.i.+romuku on this post as we do not want it to be packed away. Amelia, are there any more that you would like to try on?”
Amelia looked at the room and shook her head no. “I know that some ladies like to change multiple times but I think that it would be best to only wear the one.” She stood still and allowed Irene and Edna, help her out of the s.h.i.+romuku. “I do thank you for the kind offer though.”
“Nonsense. It is your right to try these on but if you only want the one then that is what we will do. As I told you earlier. This is your wedding so you get the final say. I will get the maids to clean this room up today so that everything gets packed up.” Edna smiles and looks at the outfit one last time.
Amelia slipped back into her sleeping yukata and looked
at the s.h.i.+romuku one last time. “This was tiring and I only tried on one outfit. I will retire back to my room.” She bowed and headed to the door.
“Yes, of course. Please rest all that you need to. I will make sure that everything gets settled. You will not need to worry about a thing.” Edna bows to Amelia and watches as she leaves the room.
“Rest up Amelia. We will be here if you need anything from us.” After Amelia leaves, Irene turns to Edna. “So did she choose something new or was it an old s.h.i.+romuku?”
“It was an old one. She has such refined taste. It is not hard to tell that she is happy with her choice though. I just hope that she will always be around.” Edna smiled and started working on packing up the borrowed s.h.i.+romuku.
“I will help you out.” Irene helped Edna start to fold the s.h.i.+romuku’s up.
Amelia walked back to her room and laid down by the open door. She felt a wave of dizziness. .h.i.t her and she was grateful that she was laying down. She closed her eyes. With her eyes closed, she fell asleep. It was a few hours later and she opened her eyes and saw Inari laying under her arm. “Inari, are you worried about me?”
The little fox rubbed his head against her arm.
“Thank you for worrying.” Amelia rubs the little fox’s ears and pets down his body. “You are a good boy.” She slowly sat up and reached beside herself and started to take her medicine.
Inari transformed and picked up the next package and handed it to Amelia. “I will help you. Mother knows that I am here. It is raining and she wanted me to check up on you. She is worried that the rain might cause you to suffer.” Inari grabbed the last package and handed it to Amelia.
“Thank you for your help Inari. I am sorry that I am worrying you two. I am okay, maybe a little fatigued.” She picks up a piece of origami paper. She starts to fold the paper. She builds a box. She blows in the hole and it goes from being flat into a box. She hands it to Inari. “Thank you for your help. You can have this as a token of my grat.i.tude.”
Inari took the box and smiled and touched on the side. “Thank you. I will treasure this.” He looks in his pockets and looks at Amelia, “I do not have a return gift.”
“You already gave me a gift. You helped me take my medicine and spent time with me. That is worth more than an origami box.” Amelia pats Inari on the head. “Your mother will get worried. You should head back.”
Inari steps on the porch and picks up his umbrella. “I will come to see you again.” He waved and disappeared with the box.
Amelia watched as he disappeared and then started coughing. She curled into a ball and coughed harder. She stopped coughing and looked at her hands. She sighed in relief as there was very little blood that stained her hands. She closed her eyes and pa.s.sed back out curled into a ball.
Gabriel woke up at lunchtime and looked at the wall before sighing. He sat up and went to his bag. He pulled out a pill and looked at it and sighed. He held it out and then there was a knock at the door. “Come in.”
Kazuki walked into the room and saw the pill. “If you take that I will not come home. So do us both a favour and put that away.”
Gabriel put the pill back in the pouch and sighed. “Kazuki. You are a devil, you know that?” He lays back down in the bed.
