Love Is So Sweet - Chapter 20
Once Jennifer was done talking with Lisa, she said goodbye to Lisa as she went on her usual jog. Lisa, on the other hand, was heading back to the apartment building while walking on the sidewalk. As she was walking she noticed something strange. There were no other people walking on the sidewalk, actually, there were no cars passing by as well. Feeling uncomfortable about the weirdness that was happening, Lisa was about to run, but then she saw someone in front of her.
It was a rather tall beautiful lady with short black hair that reaches only up to her shoulders. She was wearing a white sleeveless blouse, under a white blazer. Her pants were skin-tight which emphasized her hɨps and buŧŧ, and she wore black high heel boots, plus sunglasses and a watch. To Lisa, this woman looked rather stylish, but if other people in the know so her, they would notice that she was wearing very expensive clothes and accessories. Her sunglasses and watch were already as expensive as some cars.
Lisa was about to walk past the woman, but she blocked her path. Lisa then tried to step to the side and walk away but was once again blocked by the woman.
“Um, do you need something from me?” Lisa finally asked as she slightly backed away, while holding onto her phone and dialing the emergency number for the police.
“You’re Lisa Chu, correct?”
“Do I know you?”
“I’m Edrea Hunt, the daughter of Warren Hunt,” Edrea said her name and her father’s name proudly expecting Lisa to react in shock, but instead Lisa looked confused.
“Excuse me, who?”
“Warren Hunt, the owner of numerous five-star hotels, as well as the owner of a restaurant with three Michelin stars.”
“Um, sorry I really don’t know who you’re talking about. If that’s all, please excuse me.” Lisa was about to quietly leave but Edrea blocked her path once again.
“I’m not done talking.”
“I’m sorry Miss but I really don’t know you and I need to go.” Lisa was getting a bit scared as she was ready to call the police.
“Fine, I just want to say one thing. Don’t you get close to Jun.” Lisa who was about to call the police stop.
“Jun? As in Tang Jun, how do you know him, and why shouldn’t I get close to him?”
“Of course you shouldn’t get close to him, you and he are from two different worlds. Frankly, I’m confused as to why he wants to be ȧssociated with you. So if you think you can go beyond your relationship as editor and writer you are sorely mistaken.”
Lisa was now getting a bit irritated on how this woman she just met was looking down on her, but then Lisa showed a surprised expression. “Wait, how do you know I’m a writer and he’s my editor?”
Edrea suddenly smirked at Lisa. “I know more than that. I know you live in a shabby apartment. I know that your grandparents on your mother’s side were the ones who raised you from high school onwards. I even know that one secret you don’t want others to hear.”
Edrea then went close to Lisa and whispered something. When Lisa heard what Edrea whispered, her expression changed as she looked at Edrea with varied emotions.
“So if you want me to keep your secret a secret, then you better not get too close to Jun. In fact, it would be better if you tell him to his face that you don’t want to talk to him anymore. Tell him that you find him irritating and you want him out of your life.”
Lisa didn’t want to tell Jun any of that, he was one of the few friends she has. Also for some reason, she felt really comfortable with Jun, there’s this sort of kinship between them she couldn’t understand.
“So what do you say, are you willing to say those things? If you do it, I will no longer bother you. In fact, I might even reward you. So will you do as I say?”
“Why are you doing this?”
“I’m Jun’s fiancée, Wouldn’t you do the same thing if your fiance is getting too chummy with another woman?”
‘Huh, fiancée?’ As Lisa was trying to digest what she just heard, a familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Ex-Fiancée.” As if he was her knight in shining armor, Jun arrived the moment Lisa needed him the most. She couldn’t comprehend why, but for a brief second, Lisa could actually see Jun glowing.
“What are doing Edrea?!” Jun stood in front of Lisa while glaring at Edrea.
“Ex-Fiancée? What are you saying, you and I are still engaged.”
“We were never engaged Edrea I never agreed to that. Answer the question now, what are you doing to Lisa?” Jun’s tone sounded normal as he wasn’t shouting or anything like that, but you could just feel his anger in every word he says.
“I was just telling her the truth. That you and she could never form any proper relationship. So I just wanted to keep it professional, better yet if she could simply remove herself from the situation entirely.”
“Who are you to tell me who I can or cannot be in a relationship with? Besides we already have a very proper relationship.”
“Oh, what relationship is that?” Edrea spoke in an ice-cold tone.
“Hmph, why should I tell you that? I’m just going to warn you now Edrea, do not bother Lisa ever again… If you do-” Jun suddenly smiled a very sinister smile which made Edrea shiver unconsciously. “Well, I think you know what might happen.”
Jun then took hold of the confused Lisa’s hand and walked away from Edrea who simply stood there stunned. Once Jun and Lisa walked a few feet away from her, Edrea suddenly turned around and shouted.
“Jun you can’t do this to me! Especially not for someone like her! Do you even know her secret?!” When Lisa heard Edrea speak of her secret her hand started to sweat as she trembled a little. Jun then gripped Lisa’s hand even tighter, as if conveying to her that it’s alright.
“I can do whatever I want, and it’s none of your business. Also about her secret, why should I want to know and why should I be bothered by that? Doesn’t everyone have secrets? Don’t you have secrets?… If you plan to use her secrets to blackmail her, I could do the same to you. If you reveal any of Lisa’s secrets, I’m going to reveal your secrets as well. So, you better think twice… If that’s all you want to say, then-”
Jun with Lisa at hand left without bothering to look back. Edrea who was left on that sidewalk by herself looked at Jun’s fading silhouette and bit her lip.
