Love Is So Sweet - Chapter 28
Jun was now right in front of Lisa’s apartment and started knocking on the door. Lisa opened the door and invited Jun in.
“So, how was the progress of your work? Did you change anything from the last time I saw it?”
“I did change a few events and I also added some new characters. Nothing too big, oh, I also added new backstory for the main male lead.”
“Wait you added so much and you didn’t show me? You do remember I am your editor, right?”
“Of course I do, I just wrote all of these new things last night. So I had no time to tell you anything… Well, I’m telling you now aren’t I?” Lisa who was tossing and turning moments ago about Jun coming into her apartment was now talking rather casually with Jun who was now in her apartment.
It was like the moment they started talking all the anxiety she had about him being in her apartment just poofed, disappeared. Jun, on the other hand, was rubbing his temples still keeping his fake smile on.
“So, you added all these things last night, without double-checking or anything. Do you want to move your release date? If you want I can push it to next week, that way we have more time to fix some errors if you have any.”
Lisa shook her head and answered, “no. If you move it to next week, I’ll just get more ideas and change the scenario all over again and then what? Will you push it another week, and I’ll just do it again. The best thing to do now is just post it and get it over with. We haven’t known each other for long, and you might not have noticed this but I easily get anxious. If I don’t post this now, It’ll just be something to get even more anxious over and I’ll keep on changing it wondering if it is any good.”
Seeing how serious Lisa looked made Jun sigh.
“Fine, we still have twenty minutes until you need to post it. I’ll just take a quick look and do some minor editing.”
Lisa passed Jun her ŀȧptop and showed him the new and improved novel. Jun who did a quick scan was really surprised by how different it was from the initial work. This new version had many more characters, some of them felt eerily familiar to him, but more than that was the scenes and conversations. Last time the conversations were so weird which didn’t invoke any heart-racing reactions, but this time though it wasn’t a masterpiece or anything close to that, still, it was more presentable now. This was an improvement that happened within a week.
Jun was a bit surprised by her improvement, but only a bit, since he knew just how passionate Lisa was with her work. This was a lady that had an EQ of a ten-year-old, but she was actually able to write something like this after just a few observations and a little advice.
Jun edited some parts but only some and left everything as is. He then gave the ŀȧptop back to Lisa who was now eagerly waiting for his feedback.
Jun gave his honest review about how great her improvement was, but was still lacking in some areas. She was also bȧrėly passable in other areas, like how her scenes were not that exciting, but she wrote it like it was supposed to be exciting.
Lisa who just needed to press one buŧŧon was feeling nervous as her hand was shaking as she held onto her mouse. She was feeling very nervous about posting her new work for everyone to see. Especially to those people on the internet who feel emboldened by their anonymity that they take their time to pick apart her work little by little. She was really nervous to read those people’s creative new ways to feel bad about her work.
She remembered the first work that she posted online, it was full of hate and weird out of context things. The only reason she was able to move on from that, was because of the fans that supported her. The only reason she didn’t stop reading the hate-filled comments was that among the horrible hate, there were actually nice criticisms in there that helped her improve. Still, sometimes there was a hater that was just there to hate on her simply because the story didn’t go the way they wanted.
While Lisa was reminiscing about the past, she suddenly felt a warm hand overlapping hers. She looked beside her and like in her dreams there was Jun with his reassuring look. Her shaking hand no longer shook, as she posted her work online.
Once that was done, a great relief overflowed from Lisa. She finally posted her new work, and now all she needed to do was wait for the feedback of her fans and haters.
“See, that wasn’t so hard.” Jun shrugged his shoulders which made Lisa giggle for some reason. The two then started talking about Lisa’s new work, and what they think should happen next in the plot.
While the two were bonding, Jun’s phone started ringing. When Jun looked at the caller id, his face that usually had a smile in front of Lisa frowned for a second.
“Sorry Lisa, I have to take this call. So I’ll just get going, If you need anything else, you know how to contact me.” Jun didn’t even wait for Lisa to respond as he left the confused Lisa’s apartment.
Once he was out of the building he finally answered his phone.
“What do you want, father.”
