Love Is So Sweet - Chapter 52
Lisa avoided Randolph the whole day, and when it was time to go home Lisa darted off. She was becoming more and more anxious. Such a big change was confusing her and she needed some time to think. Lisa would usually go to the park to think for a bit, but Randolph knows that’s where she would go. That would mean that Randolph would head there looking for her. So Lisa needed to go to a place that Randolph would never think of.
Lisa headed straight for the arcade. The moment she entered the arcade various noises and blinking lights ȧssaulted her senses. This was her first time inside an arcade and it was like she was in a different world.
Lisa started to look around and saw a group of people gathering in a specific spot. She was curious as to what was happening there and approached the group. When she got close she saw that they were looking at a guy playing a fighting game.
At first, Lisa was confused as to why people would gather to watch such a thing. But her confusion turned into awe after a few seconds. The way the guy was playing was amazing, he moved his character in such a flawless combo. The opponent didn’t even have time to react and lost almost immediately.
“Damn it!” The person who was playing against the amazing player shouted as he left. Now that the other side was empty the people surrounding the amazing player started whispering.
“So who’s going to challenge him next?”
“How about you do it?”
“Noway man that guy is pretty much a pro at this.”
Lisa couldn’t understand why she did it but seeing how good the person was and hearing the people saying those things made her want to play. Before she realized it she was already sitting down in front of the game cabinet. She didn’t know how to play this game but it didn’t matter as she really wanted to try. The people were surprised to see her suddenly sit down.
At first, everyone was expecting her to be quite good since she dared to fight even after seeing how good the other guy was. But when the game started that impression of her quickly changed. She was a complete noob. The battle ended rather quickly but when everyone thought that she would leave, Lisa remained sitting on the chair to continue playing.
As she continued to lose she slowly forgot about the problem with Randolph. Not only that her gaming skills were also improving. After losing ten consecutive times, she was getting better. The people who watched from start to finish were amazed at how fast she learned the game.
Once the eleventh match started Lisa was finally able to have a proper match. She had actually won one round, but when she was about to play another round she looked at her phone. There have been numerous miss calls from Randolph and a lot of messages, but that wasn’t caught her attention. What caught her attent was that her mother also called.
It was at that moment Lisa finally noticed what time it was. Lisa no longer hesitated and left, the people who were watching were surprised. She was finally able to fight back but then she left.
“Aren’t you going to play one more game?”
“That chick was amazing wasn’t she Jun. You actually lost one round.”
Lisa heard some people commenting about her gaming ability before she left the arcade. Lisa then sprinted through the streets heading home. She texted her mom and told her that she was coming home, and there’s no need to worry.
After texting her mom, Lisa walked home. As she was nearing her house Lisa suddenly received an incoming call from Randolph. Lisa rejected the call and as she was about to walk forward someone spoke behind her.
“That’s pretty rude, don’t you think?” Lisa didn’t need to turn around to know who was talking to her. Without looking back Lisa sprinted away.
“Hey! Why are you running away! Lisa wait I just want to talk to you!” Randolph shouted as he ran after Lisa.
“I don’t want to talk to you! Go away!”
“Lisa, come on!” Lisa no longer bothered to reply to Randolph and started running faster. Unlike Randolph, Lisa was in better shape so it was easy to outrun him. As she finally made it to her house, Lisa was about to open the door. But the moment she touched the doorknob she felt an extreme sense of dread.
Every fiber of her being was telling her to not enter and simply run away. She didn’t know why but she was really scared to enter the house. It felt like the moment she entered her house something horrible would happen. Yet even with all the warning signs she received, Lisa still entered her house.
