Lovely Awakenings - Chapter 1 Tessa
Gabriel’s shoulders tensed as Rafael unclenched his jaw and changed into an immense black-gray wolf. Gabriel did the same changing into a jet-black wolf twice the size of Rafael. They circled each other for what seemed like infinity until finally, Rachel released a growl and attacked them, and that’s all I remember of the night I died. Now as I watch the procession all I can think of is I’m awake and where I belong.
“What’s wrong?” Lena asks as Gabriel makes his way through the crowd.
“Something,” I say as Rafael, Edson, Mason, and Trevor appear behind Gabriel with the same look of utter madness on their lovely faces. Without really thinking, I begin to follow Gabriel as he heads towards the front where Edith and her followers stand surrounded by Guardians and Knights of the Fifth and Eight Order.
“Don’t,” Gabriel sends to me and I turn to find watching me from where he stands.
“Why?” I send back.
“I’ll explain, but for now I need you to trust me and get Edith out of here.”
“All right, but how? She’s heavily guarded.”
“Leave it to us,” he sends as Mason whacks a guy upside the head and Trevor punches another causing the crowd to go wild.
“Now,” he sends to me, as I take Lena’s hand and run towards Edith.
“It’s time to get her out,” I tell her and she takes her wolf form heading towards Rex who’s too distracted to notice me slip-up behind Victor and snap his neck the moment Edith opens her eyes.
“About time,” she says a grin on her porcelain face.
“Don’t count your blessings just yet,” I say as one of the knights of the eight order turns to advance on us.
“Allow me, mistress,” one of Edith’s followers says as she snaps her own neck and her body turns to dust which she rises from like a phoenix and strikes out at the knight with claws like that of a falcon.
“Come-on,” I say pulling Edith from the chains that dangle from her wrist.
“I don’t think so,” Alison says, as she, and two of the Guardians block our way and others begin to surround us, as the realization of what’s truly going on hits them.
“There’s nowhere to go,” Alonso says with a growl as he falls to all fours.
“If you say so,” I say as the earth begins to shake, and shadows begin to rise. Gabriel and the others release a howl so chilling; it almost hurts to hear it, almost. I close my eyes, take a deep breath and let go of Edith.
“What are you,” she says as I change into my wolf form and attack Alonso.
“Run,” I send to her, and she those exactly that, “find Gabriel.”
“Catch her! Don’t let her escape! Kill them all!” they all shout as I rip-out Alonso’s throat.
“No!” Alison shouts as she aims her gun at me only to have it swallowed by one of the Shadows. I takeoff running leaving everything behind.
I run for what seems like infinity, until I finally come to a stop near the mountains that lead to Teravalhala the home of the Druid King Simon.
“Where you going little wolf?” a seductive feminine voice asks from somewhere above me. I ignore it, “Did you hear me?” she asks again. Again, I ignore her, “For the love of,” she says jumping from her perch, to stand before me. She lands on her feet like a cat, her eyes golden-slits claws out-stretched.
“Tessa,” Gabriel’s husky voice calls to me. I respond with a growl, that makes the girl before me grins.
“You want to fight don’t you?” she purrs as Gabriel descends on us.
“Galiana,” he says as he changes forms.
“Gabriel,” Galiana purrs his name, “What brings you here?”
“Her,” he nods towards me as I change forms and create a skintight black dress that only goes up to my knees. Then I manifest a pair of black trousers on Gabriel, this upsets Galiana and makes me smile.
“Can we go?” I ask, as I run my tongue over my canines and wrap my arms around Gabriel’s neck. Rather than responding he lifts me into his arms, and turns to leave only to be stopped by Galiana.
“Wait?” she says.
“What?” I hiss and Gabriel laughs.
“Someone’s in a hurry,” we turn to the source of the cold sadistic voice.
“Lucian,” Gabriel and I say in unison, as he holds onto me tighter.
“I see she’s accepted you,” Lucian says in that same sadistic way of his.
I hiss at him.
“Now, now, where are your manners?” he asks then advances on us, in that moment Gabriel lets me go to attack only I’m faster and hit Lucian in the gut with my bare feet, causing him to tumble backwards.
“That’s my girl,” Gabriel sends to me as he pins Lucian down. “Get of you wretched mutt!” Lucian shouts and Gabriel presses his muzzle down into Lucian’s neck and bites him.
“No,” I say as I run to them and lift Gabriel from Lucian. The moment he growls at me I hit him and drive my sword into Lucian’s hear. His eyes freeze as a sheet of ice begins to form all around him from within, “Nora wants him intact,” I send to Gabriel who, still remains in his wolf form.
“Well that was something,” Galiana says as she shifts back into a girl leaving behind her tiger-self, “you don’t think you could do that trick again could you?”
“What trick?” I ask.
“The one were you manifest clothes,” she says as Gabriel throws himself at my feet.
“Now what?” I send to him and he gives me an ear-to-ear wolf-grin red tongue hanging out and all. “Sure,” I say to Galiana as I manifest a golden dress on her that makes her eyes-pop-out.
“Thank you,” she says as she takes a hand full of her platinum hair and braids it into a knot.
“Your welcome, Gabriel please change forms,” I say and he just looks at me with that stupid grin still on he’s face, “for the love of Selene,” I send to him, “just get over it and change back into your human form so we can leave.”
“Why?” he responds as I kneel down beside him.
“Because I need you to. Look I’m sorry I hit you but you were going to kill him.”
“An?”
“Fuck you then,” I say as I stand and take hold of Lucian’s hands.
“Trouble in paradise,” Galiana says with a purr.
“Shut up,” Gabriel says as he changes back into his human form.
“Take hold of his legs,” I tell him as I manifest another pair of pants on him. Then we disappear leaving Galiana behind and appearing in Helena’s living-room.
“Get Nora,” Gabriel says to Kara who puts down her book and leaves us alone as she goes in search of Nora.
“Gabriel,” I send to him only to be met by a brick wall. So I drop Lucian and go to Gabriel, I place my hands on his shoulders and look into the turmoil of his eyes as I say, “please,” and he looks away, forcing me to take hold of his face as I press my forehead against his, “I’m sorry.”
“For what?” he asks with a coldness in his voice that would make most roll-over-and-die.
“For hitting you, it’s just you growled at me. For a shear moment I thought you’d attack me,” I say as a glint of hurt and disbelief shows in his eyes followed by rage as he takes a possessive hold of my hands and looks me deep in the eyes as he says, “Tessa, you know I’d never hurt you. For you to think such a thing proves you still don’t trust me.”
“I
“No,” he places his finger on my lips to stop me from talking at the sound of footsteps and then releases me as Nora, Kara, and Helena enter the room.
“Nora,” I say.
“That was quick,” Nora says as she makes her way to us.
“I serve to please,” I say mockingly as Kara rolls her eyes and picks up her book leaving us behind.
“Is he dead?” Helena asks.
“In a sense, I froze him from within.”
“I see.”
“Can you undo-it?” Nora asks.
“Perhaps,” I say as I kneel down next to Lucian and remove my sword slowly until the coldness in his eyes begins to fade. “That should do it.”
“Are you sure?”
“See for yourself,” I say as Lucian’s eyes close.
“Now we leave,” Gabriel says as he helps me stand.
“Stay longer,” Helena, says, as the brown in her eyes glows a sickly red.
“No, there’s things we must tend to,” I say.
“Really, like what?”
“Enough Helena, and thank you both,” Nora says to us as I take hold of Gabriel and blink us out of sight and into the comfort of our home.
“What was the point in saving Edith?” I ask.
“Casteal wants her,” Gabriel says as he pours himself a drink.
“An, since when do you run errands for him?” as I take the drink he offers.
“I don’t, but I owed him a favor,” he says as he takes a seat on his favorite armchair and pulls me towards him.
“Really, what favor?” I ask as I settle myself on his lap and run my fingers through his baby soft hair.
“Does it matter?”
“No, I guess not,” I say as I bring my lips to his and we kiss only to be interrupted by Rafael, and Lena’s howling. “What the fuck was that?” I ask pulling away from Gabriel and walking towards the closest window as a third, fourth, and fifth howl sounds through the winterish night.
“They’ve come home,” Gabriel murmurs as he turns me to face him, “better go upstairs, don’t you agree?” at this I kiss him and lead him up the stairs and into our room, where I lock the doors and push him towards the bed only to end-up with him on top. I thread my fingers through his thick hair as he kisses me fiercely, working his way down my throat as he removes my dress in one swift move and I push his pants down with my feet, and wrap my legs around his waist pulling him down to me even more. “Gabriel,” I whisper as he sinks his canines into me sending a sensual kind of thrill down my spine as I sink my canines into his neck. The taste of his blood makes me feel alive as its warmth fills me.
“Gabe!” Mason shouts the moment the sound of glass breaking reaches our room.
“What?!” he shouts back.
“No answer,” I say and we get to our feet with one of the bed sheets wrapped around me like a toga. Gabriel grabs his pants but changes his mind as he takes his wolf form. “I don’t sense anything,” I send to him.
“It’s probably masking itself,” he sends back as I unlock the doors and slowly open one to see the hall empty. As we make our way through the house, the sound of metal drifts to us, and the smell of blood fills the air.
“I think it’s Lena’s,” I send to him, as the scent gets stronger. Definitely Lena’s. There’s a loud “thump” then a “bang” as the sound of crumbling stone drifts to us and a strong wind fills the Manor. We find that the Northern wall has a gaping hole where it connects to the floor above. Lena lays bloody and broken near a fading corps, while Rafael fights with a girl a foot shorter than him. Trevor pins down a she-wolf as Mason extracts her soul.
“What happened?” I send to Edson who just finished taking down an Amazonian Vampir.
“Don’t know, just got here,” he says as Gabriel sniffs some of the corpses.
“This is war,” Gabriel growls as he changes back into his human form.
“Then we join Sakura?” I ask.
for visiting.
“No, not quite,” Gabriel says with a wicked grin on his lovely face, “get Violet.”
