Lovely Awakenings - Chapter 5 Kara
Nora still tortured Lucian when I made my way down to the dungeon. He was still tied up, but mother held his head as Nora took the widest chisel on the silver tray and ran it down the side of Lucian once handsome face. She stopped at the center of his cheek and shoved the chisel through, he didn’t scream he didn’t move but stared at me as if asking for help. No, not asking, pleading. Something that Lucian Van Dragon isn’t known for. Well wasn’t known for, for I do believe him dead now. As I stand outside Alex’s club, I realize that I’ll never truly belong in my family or with Blake.
“Go ahead,” the bouncer, says as he grants me admittance along with a group of fairies. No mortal’s ever allowed entrance to Club “V” except on the Free-For-All-Night. This is when every immortal may kill a mortal or claim it as it’s familiar. The music’s loud yet somehow, I don’t think it hurts anyone’s sensitive hearing. Instead, what it does is make you lose control and let go of every care in the world.
I don’t know how long I dance but it feels so good I don’t want to stop, not even when Adam wraps an arm around my waist and presses his chest against my back moving to the rhythm of the music with me.
“Where’s your boyfriend,” he whispers into my ear the smell of whiskey and blood in his breath.
“Don’t know, don’t care. And neither do you, so stop acting like you do,” I whisper back as I press-up closer to him and move my hips slowly then as quickly as the rhythm of the bass.
“Oh really?” he says as he kisses my neck and I let him.
“Yeah,” I turn and kiss him not caring who sees me not caring for Blake. For I know, he doesn’t care for me one-bit. I wrap my arms around his neck then tilt my head back and let him sink his fangs into the hollow of my throat.
“Really Adam?” a female voice asks as Adam clears his throat and I opened my eyes to find Crystel’s impending gaze of disapproval on us.
“Hey sis, thought you were dead,” Adam says as he releases his hold on me and I stumble backwards only to bump into someone’s hard chest.
“The poor girl’s without balance thanks to you,” a cold raspy voice says as I stand straight and turn to face Alex who unlike Crystel seems amused which is somewhat confusing considering his tone.
“Alex,” I nodded my head in a manner of respect and hold my head high.
“You’re Kara, right?” he asks and all I can do is stare at him, for the most powerful and ruthless vampire since Tyler-Xavier lived during the fall of the Empire, knows my name.
“Helena’s daughter,” Crystel says before slapping Adam and saying “what were you thinking.”
for visiting.
“It’s not his fault,” is all I can seem to say as a girl with shimmering blue-black hair walks towards us her eyes seeming to go past the vast darkness of my soul as she stops before me and places her pretty pail hand on Alex’s shoulder.
“It’s time,” she says with a voice that seems to hold every answer to every question I’ve ever had.
“In a minute,” Alex tells her and she turns to leave her velvety black dress catching the light of a flickering candle that seems to have come out of nowhere which is when I realize who she is.
“Wait,” I say and try to go after her only to have Adam pull me back.
“A-a-a,” he says, “she’s off limits.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” I ask.
“Let her be,” the girl’s voice drifts towards us from some place unseen. It feels like an eternity until Adam lets go of me and Crystel leads me to her.
