Loving The Devil - Chapter 8
Chloe was shocked; she dropped into her chair full of disbelief. She knew he was cheating, but with Sally? “You have been sleeping with Sally? ….. I mean Sally of all people?” “Chloe I didn’t want to tell you like this, but I wanted you to hear it from me.”
“And she’s pregnant? What am I supposed to do with this information? Do we break up? Do you plan to be with her, raise the child?”
Chloe was frantic; she felt as though her whole life had been violently ripped away. At this moment she wanted to get away from Phillip, Far away.
“Chloe, I don’t know what Sally and I are gonna do, but I know I don’t wanna lose you. I love you.”
“Phillip, how dare you say that. Do I look stupid to you? Get out. Just leave, Phillip. I don’t want to see you I don’t want to speak to you I want you gone.” Phillip tried to insist on staying when Chloe had enough and walked out of the office. “We’re closing early today and may be closed for the next few days.”Chloe walked to the door to put the closed sign up when it opened, causing her to fall forward into a pair of strong, capable arms. For a moment she didn’t want to leave. These arms made her feel safe.
“Chloe, you’re unreasonable.” Phillip spouts this as he sees another man holding her. “We just fought and now you are running into another man’s arms? I knew you were trash.”
The cafe has grown quiet, everyone staring at Phillip with disgust in their eyes. Even if she were in the wrong, he had no right to say that. Chloe shoved her face into this stranger’s ċhėst crying at the point. “Miss are you ok?” She found this voice very familiar and looked up. Her eyes looked like red rubies. Her face was botched from wiping her face. Her nose was wet and runny. Still, she let a small smile cross her face. “It’s you.” She had never been so happy to see Brian. She felt relief from her problems. Brian looked at Chloe and the state she was in, then looked at Phillip giving him a malevolent look.
Brian wanted to hurt Phillip. Who was he to speak to his angel that way? Phillip stared at Brian with disgust. Watching Chloe cling to him and this guy was consoling her. “Chloe who is this guy?” Chloe turned to Phillip, and with the most confident voice she could muster up. “This guy is my new boyfriend. I’ll be leaving with him. Don’t follow me.” Phillip outraged, ran to Chloe reached out to stop her from leaving when Brian grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks. Squeezing his arm, Brian told Phillip, “You heard her, I am her new boyfriend. Not you. If you dare try to touch her again, I will not go so easily next time.” ” Angel, let us leave now. I’ll get you away from this garbage you call ex.” Brian lifted Chloe into his arms. One hand under her legs and another behind her back. Feeling like a bride, Chloe blushed through her tears, Smiled at Brian, looked at Phillip “Enjoy your next life. If I ever see you in my cafe again, I’ll call the police. Sam close it down and have a nice three days off.” Sam looked at Phillip thrilled at the outcome, then ȧssured Chloe that she heard her.
Brian walked Chloe all the way to the car holding her. Thrilled Chloe called him her boyfriend even if it was just to get back at her ex. “Did you want to talk about what just happened?” “No not just yet. Do you think you could take me to the cemetery? I need to be alone for a minute. I can’t think about what to do next. I guess I’ll have to move because he knows where I live. Ugh. why did this have to happen?” Brian took her face in his hands gently making her look at him. He spoke in a soft, gentle tone “It happened because he is scum. He was good at hiding it. This happened because you loved him. It’s ok that you called me your boyfriend in the heat of the moment. I understand if you didn’t mean it. However, I wouldn’t dislike it if you did mean it.” Brian smiles and places a kiss on her forehead, not wanting to push her limits just yet.
“Ryan…” Brian interrupted her “Brian, my name is Brian. He is Ryan. I misled you earlier. For that I apologize, It was shameful of me.” “Brian, thank you for telling me, but don’t ever lie to me again. Promise?” “Yes mam’ I promise. Never again will I withhold information or lie to you.” “Good now about us being together. I feel as though we should keep ‘dating.’ I don’t want him to know the truth. Besides, it could be fun.” A mischievous smile spread onto Brian’s face, fun indeed.
