CHAPTER 255
All the while she thought and played with her food, completely oblivious to the fact that someone else was watching her.
Not being able to take it, Astoria leaned in close to Asia and whispered into her ears, “Relax, he didn’t leave you. He just needs to think. Once you get to know him, younwou, d see that this is pretty normal,” Astoria assured her, as she winked at Asia.
Although it did not stop her problem, it was a huge help to her and she found herself clinging to that hope and waiting for his arrival.
Their breakfast was more or less quiet and when they were done, everyone proceeded to their respective rooms to relax or do their thing before the time for the meeting began.
At the appointed time, Xander returned and went straight for the conference room where they were all seated. Right outside the door, he met Aramis pacing in front with a hand on his jaw and the other supporting his elbow.
He wanted to order him inside but took his time noticing his friend as he drew closer to him.
“And what has gotten the alrighty Lord of the House of Avi to be this way?”
…..
Aramis stopped moving and when he saw Xander, he bowed his head a little bit. “Welcome.”
“Thank you. However, you cannot use a sense of pleasantries to hide away from me. Tell me, what got you worried?”
“Fine. I am concerned about her.”
“I see. The little escapade you too had in the garden wasn’t enough for you and how has she gotten you worried,” Xander teased. His friend was something else.
His eyes flew open almost instantly. He knew if someone came to watch, he would notice the person but he neither saw nor did he sense Xander and honestly he did not count him as part of those who would snoop.
“Relax I was not watching you. I happened to sense a disturbance around the house and peered, only to find you two making out.”
“Phew, you got me all worked out. Jeez, you could have made me know of your presence.”
“Then where is the fun in that? Besides, I was not here physically, Xyler sensed it and I used the security camera on my watch to check.” He playfully hit his friend on the shoulder and smiled. “Anyways, what is it that is bothering you?”
“I want her, Xan. I need her. I want all of her. I sincerely do not know how you do it to stay away from Jade even though she is your mate. It is hard. I cannot stop myself when the urge comes to kiss her.”
“Hmm, and you just met her, right?”
“Not really. I have met her once before but she did not recognize me.”
“I see.”
“That is not the problem now,” Aramis informed him. “It is like my dragon knows her. He is reckless right now and now is not the time for such. I need to keep my head focused and plan for our next battle. I can out afford such a distraction.”
“Is she the distraction or you are trying to create one to avoid how you feel for her?”
“Xander?”
Xander folded his arms in front of his chest as he waited for his friend to explain.
“I think you should listen to Argorn more. I think this is where Astoria and Adalinda win you. You do not pay attention to Argorn. He knows what he knows and by now you should be used to this. You know what I mean. He knows when he recognizes what he wants. I think you should know the consequences of denying him.”
“Pff. I do not want to lead her on. When I am with her, I still have thoughts of Asteria.”
“It cannot be helped. You know how you two were. But I am happy you are opening up to someone else again.”
“It isn’t easy. All I know is that, I was glad and overjoyed when I saw her at dinner yesterday and then the more I stayed close to her, the more restless Argorn began. It was like he was silently urging me on, waiting for me to pounce on her.”
“You got your dragon excited ad you think it is easy? Well, how do you feel for her?”
“I love her. I know it seems soon but believe me, right from when I met her the first time I felt him feel glad. And now when I saw her again, after searching for years, you do not know the joy.”
“Great my friend. Go for her and make her happy. You better not mess this thing up because if you hurt her and she cries to Jade, tsk.” The calm and friendly look in his eyes suddenly changed into a dark and cold aura.
“I WOULD BREAK YOUR WINGS.”
A visible gulp could be seen going down his throat at Xander’s threat. Aramis did not need a second telling for him to know that he meant every bit of it.
“Got it, Dragon Lord.”
“Good boy. I would hate for Jade to be extra mad at me because of you and Jay. Let us go in. Time for review and a brand plan on how to take down our enemies.”
“Sure. Thanks.”
He patted his shoulder with his left hand while using his right to open the door.

Jade was tempted to leave her seat and rush into his arms. How much she had waited for him for the past hours which were so torturously slow.
However, rather than allowing her emotions to get the best of her, she pinched on her skin hard so that she could focus on the pain rather than anything else.
“Good morning everyone,” his cold voice swept across the room, landing on everybody one at a time before even landing on Jade.
He missed her, missed holding her in her arms but a part of him still wanted him to and another was still vexed at her. Left with nothing more to do, he turned around and faced the whiteboard.
“Today, our main focus would be on… The Anders.”
