Loving The Vampire Prince - Chapter 3 Chapter Two
Sofie’s POV:
Today, we are on a field trip here at Tagaytay. We will be camping out here at the forest.
I don’t even understand why do they need to require us to join this field trip. Nor why, of all activities we could do, they chose camping.
It’s really weird. I knew camping is boring. I’ve been doing that since summer of grade school.
Anyways, here we are. They girl students are preparing the food for everybody, while the guys are setting up the tents.
“Angela, I just remembered. We’re near the Venus garden.” Jadie suddenly spoke.
“Really?” I asked. She nodded and smiled.
“Yup.”
“Hey,” one of our female classmates interrupted. “I see you guys were having fun. Can I join?”
“Sienna. Yeah, sure. We were talking about the legendary Venus Garden.” Jadie explained.
“Right. I heard it was near our camping site.” Sienna suddenly got interested.
“What is so mysterious about that garden?” I suddenly asked.
“It was said that Zeus forbid all men and women in that place because of Venus.” Jadie explained.
I just frowned in confusion.
“I’m actually guessing it was her son Cupid. You know how mischievous Cupid is?” Sienna interupted again. Jadie just rolled her eyes at her.
“Anyways, they also said that only can see the place when they are in danger. But once they are safe, they will suddenly smell the scent of lavender flowers and will fell asleep. Once they wake up, they will think that they only saw the place in their dreams.” Jadie continued.
“Well, the most romantic part of that is only couples who were ‘binded’ by a promise of love can see the place clearly. Pure love, of course.” Sienna spoke again.
“Yeah. That’s right.” Jadie seconded.
I just smiled and shook my head at them.
“How romantic.” I blurted. “You know what? Let’s get more firewood.”
I looked at the campfire we built just now. We were trying to roast a chicken, but it looks like we will be needing more firewood later.
“You’re right. I’ll go with you guys.” Sienna volunteered.
“Let’s go.” I was about to walk when something flashed in my memory.
In my mind, there were a lot of corpses bathing in blood. Only one man was standing.
‘No!’ He shouted.
He was crying and suddenly shouted with all his might.
I almost lost my balance after that. His cry actually scared me.
“Are you okay, Angela?” I was back to my old self when Jadie asked me.
“H-Huh?” I looked around and saw myself still at the camping site.
Okay. That was weird.
Am I sleeping too much lately? Is that why I am having these hallucinations or weird dreams?
This is way too much.
I suddenly held Mumzie’s ring. She gave it to me before we left for Tagaytay. She said it will protect me.
I don’t understand. When I gave my mom my waiver, Mumzie was so against with my field trip.
I just can’t tell my professor that I can’t go. This trip was required in our department.
“I’m fine. Just a little headache. Maybe I sniffed too much smoke?” Jadie laughed at my joke.
“C’mon. Those firewood aren’t gonna lift themselves up now, are they?” I laughed when she said that.
~***~
We were almost at the place where the Venus Garden lies, as Jadie and Sienna remembered.
“Well, here we are. Venus garden.” I looked around.
“Aren’t we supposed to be just gathering firewood?” I asked them.
Are we lost?
“Well, that doesn’t seem right.” Jadie suddenly blurted. “What happened here?”
“I don’t know. I’m just surprised as you are.” The moment I saw Sienna’s face, she looked confused too.
“Let’s just gather some firewood then leave. The others might look for us.” I told them. They both agreed.
Before I gathered some firewood, I approached the withered lavenders that we saw. I suddenly felt something heavy from my chest. It makes me feel sad.
“Angela, c’mon. Gather more firewood. We might need more than what Sienna and I had gathered.” I shook my head and was back to my old self again.
I had this gut-feeling that I shouldn’t be staring at these withered…
*Bell ringing*
I suddenly heard a small sound of bell ringing.
“Wait. What was that?” I asked Jadie and Sienna.
“What’s what?” I heard Jadie asked me.
Just then, I heard it again. This time, I also heard a man’s voice. Like it’s wishing.
*Bell ringing*
“Hear me, Venus. O, Goddess of Love. Hear me.
Garden of Love, I summon Thee. As I vow to be with the one I love. Now, forever and-” Before I hear him finish, I don’t know why I felt like smiling.
“always.” I blurted.
It was too late when I noticed what I’ve just said.
When I opened my eyes, the whole place light up. I can’t see Jadie nor Sienna.
“Jadie? Sienna?” My surroundings was full of white light, it almost made me blind.
But then, it became normal again in just a minute.
“Where..” I was dumbfounded when I looked at my surroundings. “am I?”
I just tried walking staright while looking for my best friend and my classmate.
“Jadie? Sienna? Where are you guys?” I called to them. But no one answered.
As I walk, the smell of lavender scent becomes stronger. I just continued on walking towards this path I am taking.
What is this place?
The lavenders were beautifully hanging on the roof covering this path. At the end of the path, I can clearly see a fountain.
I smiled. Is this the Venus Garden? Is it as it was told in the legend?
As I came closer to the fountain, I saw a man sitting on a bench, facing the fountain.
He look so sad.
But wait….
Why does he look familiar?
I stopped when I finally reached the fountain. It’s him. The man who keeps on appearing in my dreams.
I stared at him for a a moment.
“It’s you.” I suddenly blurted.
The man slowly looks at me. He was just as surprised as I was when I saw him.
“Hey, Uhm… Where am I? And who-” I seem to be rude, but I am just really confused right now.
But then, he interrupted me.
“Sofie?” He suddenly stood up and hugged me. “You’re back.”
I don’t know why, but my hands just involuntarily hugged him back.
“You’re safe.” He hugged me tighter. As if, he doesn’t want to let me go.
