Loving You Too Much - Chapter 421
Looking at the wide opening, Zhang Yu Han felt his blood drain off his head and he staggered backward. However, Li Qin Yao’s scream quickly snapped him back to reality.
Zhang Yu Han patted at his face a few times and warned himself that this was not the time for him to faint. His wife was in labor and she needed him right now. If he fainted, then, his wife and child would be in great danger.
“Doctor Qiao, I don’t think I can hold on until the paramedics arrive,” Li Qin Yao spoke. “I want to start pushing.”
“Mister Zhang,” Doctor Qiao’s calm voice was heard from the loudspeaker. “How many centimeters?”
Zhang Yu Han turned to look at the opening again. “Five.” He shouted.
Or was that four and a half? Should he give a proper measurement? What should he do? He did not know how to measure properly!
“Mrs. Zhang, hold on. It’s still too early for you to start pushing,” Doctor Qiao spoke.
Too early? The opening was already this wide, and Doctor Qiao think it was still too early? Then when should his wife start pushing out the baby?
Watching his wife in pain, Zhang Yu Han did not know whether he wanted the baby to come out quick or to wait until helps arrived. Anyway, he did not like to see his wife in pain.
“Mrs. Zhang, you need to save your energy. You’re going to need them when the time comes. ” Doctor Qiao spoke again. “Just breathe like how you were taught to do and don’t panic. Your husband is with you. Mister Zhang, you need to continue and look at the opening. Wait until it was dilated to ten centimeters.”
“Ten centimeters,” Zhang Yu Han repeated slowly. Suddenly, his brain was unable to compute and he did not know how wide was ten centimeters.
“I’ve talked to the paramedics,” Qi Zheng’s voice was heard. “It seemed that there was a massive accident on the bridge and most of the paramedics were dispatched to help with the situation. I don’t think that—”
Qi Zheng’s words were left unfinished. His gaze met Doctor Qiao’s warning gaze and he suddenly realized that the doctor was on the line. Zhang Yu Han had put his phone on loudspeaker and the couple should have heard his voice.
At this sudden realization, Qi Zheng began to panic. “Uh… maybe I should head over there and ȧssist.”
“Wait. Qi Zheng, I’m coming with you.” Doctor Qiao took off her lab coat, grabbed a few necessary items, and head out to follow the young man. The phone continued to connect and Doctor Qiao continued to ȧssist the couple while giving a few motivational words.
“Argh!” Li Qin Yao shouted again as she gripped at the sofa with great strength. Her face was red and her nicely hair was now messy. Once the pain past, Li Qin Yao looked at her husband and sobbed.
“It’s okay. It’s going to be alright,” Zhang Yu Han coaxed. He grabbed a clean towel and wiped at his wife’s face. “Qi Zheng and Doctor Qiao are on their way. They will help us.”
“Zhang Yu Han,” Li Qin Yao sobbed. “It hurts!”
The last time she gave birth to her daughter, Doctor Qiao had given her epidural to help with the pain. Right now, without the anesthetic, everything was too painful that she thought she was going to die.
“It’s my fault,” Zhang Yu Han whispered a few times. He ċȧrėssed her face and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Don’t worry. I’m here with you.”
Other than giving her a few encouraging words, he did not know what else he can do.
“Just hit me, bite me, or whatever you want to do if it helps you with the pain.”
Li Qin Yao wanted to laugh, but she did not have the energy to do so. The wave of pain came again, and Doctor Qiao’s comforting voice was heard over the phone.
From Qi Zheng’s voice on the background, they found out that the accident on the bridge affected the traffic and it will take half an hour for them to reach his house.
Zhang Yu Han went over to look at the dilation and paused at the sight before him. “Doctor Qiao, I think I saw the baby’s head.” There was a brief silence before he spoke again. “Why is it so fast?”
He can still remember that Li Qin Yao spent a few hours in the labor room before their daughter came out. Was there any problem?
“Mister Zhang, you need to relax,” Doctor Qiao spoke. “This is your wife’s second time giving birth and, normally, the process is faster than the first time. You said that you can see the baby’s head?”
Zhang Yu Han swallowed. “I think so.”
There was a brief silence before the doctor spoke again, “You have washed your hand?”
“I have,” Zhang Yu Han responded. Earlier, Qi Zheng had reminded him to wash his hand and make sure that everything around them was clean and sanitized.
“Good,” Doctor Qiao spoke. “Mister Zhang, the traffic here is bad. I don’t know whether we can arrive on time to ȧssist your wife. At this time, there was nothing else we can do but to rely on you. Mister Zhang, can you be calm and ȧssist your wife?”
Zhang Yu Han shifted his gaze to his wife and swallowed.
“Don’t worry, although I cannot be there, I will continue to ȧssist you,” Doctor Qiao spoke again. “Mister Zhang, your wife, and baby is counting on you. There was no one else around. You have to be the one who catches the baby.”
Hearing the doctor’s words, his heart started to pound loudly. Zhang Yu Han swallowed and nodded anxiously. “Alright. I understand. Doctor Qiao, just tell me what I need to do.”
Doctor Qiao heaved a sigh in relief. “Mister Zhang put your hand on the baby’s head and support him from popping out. Mrs. Zhang, you can start pushing. Remember the breathing method I taught you and don’t panic. You are not alone.”
Li Qin Yao clenched her hand tightly and looked at her husband’s serious face. “Alright. I’ll do my best.”
From the other line, Doctor Qiao continued to give her instruction to help the two give birth to their child safely while Qi Zheng was behind the wheel as they head to the house together.
Doctor Qiao continued to speak to the couple with a calm voice.
Even though the phone was not on the loudspeaker, Qi Zheng was able to hear Li Qin Yao’s scream in pain clearly. Subconsciously, he gripped at the steering wheel tightly. He was not there in person, but Qi Zheng was able to feel the thrill.
After a few minutes have passed, Qi Zheng’s grip on the steering wheel began to loose when he was able to hear the baby’s cry.
