Lucifer’s Descendant System - Chapter 304: Not Poison
“Will do, Let’s go,” Michael wrapped the conversation, as a loud and cheering {1} filled the venue, but there was no sign of movement from the walls of the arena floor.
{Begin the final round of the arena!}
The host’s voice annouced the beginning, but, for a second, the three were frozen in place. Something they were attentively waiting for did not happen, but they could see the enemies from the Hyu Family start to cast magic and run up to them. Noah, however, did not care about what was happening, he was frozen because he was busy.
“Shit! It really was an open space,” Michael said while pulling the string of his bow.
Not long after, the Gyu Family members started firing run of the mill magic, which was thankfully quickly destroyed by the Khan Family’s magicians.
“Now!” Noah yelled, as over two dozen magic circles appeared from the ground, and all 30 Imps appeared. ‘Protect the people on this side, kill the others, be careful with the strong ones. If you kill, you can keep their eyes.’
For a fraction of a second, Noah saw all the Imps’ eyes turn towards him, creepy smiles on their faces that filled Noah with some kind of special pride. ‘The three of you,’ he said to the special imps he’d gathered, ‘make sure you protect that healer. Heal her if necessary. There’s no need to hold back on using the powers, just don’t get yourselves killed and lose the eye party.’
The three Imps he’d trained himself with utmost care quickly made their way to his team’s backline, especially the one with the teleportation skill. The one with the fire claws, however, decided to follow his instructions in a different way, running straight towards those who were targeting her, from the enemy backline.
Noah watched as they began scrambling and joining the blessed from the Khan family, rushing towards the Hyu people, before he felt a strange reaction from the Pyakugan. ‘What? Where?’ he though, teleporting away a few feet, only to look back and see the enemy poison blessed standing where she was with blade. ‘Shit, she was faster than last time,’ he thought, as he saw her click her tongue and jump away and start running back to her team. ‘Guess I should get her out of the way, then,” he thought, as he saw her change directions mid-way and jup up the invisible footing.
‘Shit! I though he was distracted, how did he avoid me?’ the woman thought, as she ran back towards the her group. Suddenly, her eyes met with those of the Leader of her team, full of scorn. ‘I guess there’s no use in me returning then… Might aswell try again and meet someone else. As she jumped up the footing, she saw the reason why her team was so conscious of advancing quickly, joining up in a line. ‘Waht are these things? I saw a couple of them near that man, but there’s so many. They’re probably weak monsters they are using as shields,’ she thought, simply from the sheer number of them. Since they were acting as guards, accompanying the blessed, she had no way of assessing their strength. She jumped onto another foothold, making her way through the air towards the backline of the Khan Family. “Shit!” she muttered, as she made a quick footing and jolted herself out of the path of an arrow. “That was dangerous, where did it come from?” she whispered, changing directions again, as she searched for the source of said arrow, quickly tracing it back to Khan Family’s leader, Michael. ‘He’s gonna be a pain, I better—” she paused mid-sentence, as she felt the heat rise on her back, and quickly turned around, luckily parrying a dagger with hers. As she defended, her eyes crossed with Noah’s and a slight smirk formed on her face.
Her other hand slid around, aiming for his throat, but a blast of hot air hit her body, as he once again vanished in flames.
‘Fuck,’ she thought, as she felt her body fall through the air, and hurriedly fixed her positioning to be able to use another footing to remain about the fight below. “Wha?!” she gasped, rolling her body mid-air to avoid another oncoming dagger. Still glad the magicians of the Khan Family were busy blocking their own magic, since their numbers matched evenly, but this guy’s shots were too dangerous, and very well timed. Using a quick footing, she decelerated her fall, managing to fall to the ground still on her fit, but a sharp pain forced her to look at her shoulder, where an arrow had grazed her. ‘I’ll take one of them, at least that way, they won’t look down on me,’ she thought, darting towards the archer, who was in the middle of the way between the backline and the warriors, who were now about to reach the main group of the Hyu Family.
“You think she’ll manage?’ In the same position as Michael, just on the other side of the arena, the two people at the head of the Hyu Family’s group chatted idly.
“I couldn’t care less, you know. She’s just cannon fodder. That curse of hers will kill her anyways.” The leader of the Hyu family shrugged, watching her hop onto Noah, only to see the floor of the arena glow with tens of invocation circles. “The fuck is that?” he asked out loud, seeing the tens of red demons appear from the flames on the circles. “What?! Are those the loaned imps from those car guys heir? The ones from the red demon?! Fuck!” he cursed aloud, as he recognized the powerful red monsters.
“What’s wrong? Aren’t we going just just stand back and watch?” the blessed with a shield by him said, looking uninterested.
“Don;t you know about them? Those things are able to hold themselves agaist C Rank monsters! And there are more than 2 dozens of them!” The leader clenched his fists in anger, “How the hell did they manage to get a hold of so many in a single day?! Are they wiping their asses with money or something?!” he asked himself aloud, pulling his sword.
“Don’t worry about those things, this will just make this battle fun for us,” the shield blessed said, pulling out his sword and walking ahead. “Instead, you should worry about that idiot being useless,” he said, pointing his sword to the poison blessed, falling back to the ground without having injured a single opponent despite trying her best against Noah, and only being pushed back.
“We all knew that bitch’d be useless. At least she’ll buy us time to act, before they try to hit the casters. Having to train more trash into being useful would be a waste of my time,” the leader said, running towards the fight.
“Noah!” Michael yelled, as he saw Noah teleport behind the assassin once again. He let go of the string, shooting an arrow at her, but she managed to dodge it with ease, which made him realize she was paying attention to them, not the back line. “It’s a trap!”
This time, however, she was already expecting his move, and Michael’s words came too late. Since she had been rushing towards the back line, she had been waiting for the heat of his teleportation, since she only needed to scratch him to win. ‘I better make it work,’ she though, increasing the power of her double-edged blessing. ‘I hope that archer is not completely useless… He should be able to kill me in one shot if I don’t pay attention…’ she thought to herself, turning her body towards the flame and deflecting Noah’s dagger whole swinging at him.
“Fuck!” Noah groaned, as her blade sliced through the joint of his armor’s shoulder, only lightly hitting him, but enough for the poison to start making effect.
“AHH!” Noah was surprised, as he saw the blessed screaming, but soon saw the two fang marks on the forearm of the hand she had used to hold the dagger.
‘Thanks, Lilith,’ he told her, making the snake slide over his neck in joy.
‘You’re welcome, but you better deal with her poison,’ Lilith said, as she saw the woman begin panting.
‘Oh, right, wait… Why do I not feel anything?’ he asked Lilith, confused, as he didn’t seem to feel any different than usual. She, on the other hand, seemed to be on the verge of collapsing. “Didn’t you use the poison of yours this time?” he asked, lowering his stance.
“Shut up! How the hell are you still standing?!” she yelled, pulling both her daggers as she struggled to remain standing. It was then that Noah’s mind clicked.
“Your blessing. It is not a poison, is it?” he asked, smug.
“What?! What are you asking, of course it… How?” Realizing it was not just a bluff, and strugging to keep herself awake, she held herself up through will power alone, pouncing at Noah, who easily blocked her dagger.
Why he didn’t kill her? Because he was curious. “I’ll tell you, but first, what really is your blessing?” he asked, jumping back.
“Only if you can make it so nobody can see what I’m telling you,” she said, juping at him and making a predictable swing he easily parried.
‘Good thing you don’t have venom, else she’d be dying,’ he said to Lilith, who was still coiling around his neck.
‘I’m… not so sure whether I have it or not,’ her response though, was a strange one.
‘Aren’t you a constrictor?’ he asked back, staring at the fang marks on the girl’s forearm.
‘I look like one. I’m a demon, though. Also, I don’t think non venomous snakes have fangs, only tiny teeth,’ her words made him enter contemplation, as he cast a wall of fire around the two, curious about the girl’s answer.
‘Whatever, so long as she tells me the stuff before she dies, I’m fine with it,’
