Lucky Star - Volume 1 Chapter 259 For Granted..
“Bai, I don’t know why but I feel that you changed. I don’t know if it is for good or worse” De Xi said as she smiled warmly towards Lu Bai. “Are you happy with this change” Lu Bai asked warmly as he directed a warm and doting gaze towards her. “I don’t know I feel that right now you are livelier but the one before was someone who was mature and I understood him” De Xi said as she stood up.
She sighed and then smiled towards Lu Bai as she said, “I’m going to work now as I have a lot to handle as I delayed the matter over here because of Australia” De Xi said calmly in a warm tone as she smiled and then left when Lu Bai nodded in understanding. Looking at her departing figure Lu Bai sighed in uncertainty.
‘Xi’er if I confess everything to you will you really forgive me for misleading you and taking your trust for granted’ Lu Bai thought, he sighed as he knew its answer very well. He stood and left the house as well.
/////////// DE XI’S CABIN //////////
The cabin was shrouded in Arctic winds; Cheng Jiu was about to give out when. She was shivering lightly, whereas Zihao was sweating profusely. De Xi was looking at her desktop screen intently, her eyes not blinking even for once. Zihao and Cheng Jiu were about to give up when De Xi looked up and glanced at the two.
“When did you obtain all of this” De Xi asked in a bone-shilling tone, her eyes emotionless. Zihao breathed in sharply so as to control his trembling voice. “I collected all of it the day you asked me to investigate the crisis but you asked me to keep it so I did not bring it to you” Zihao said this with his eyes closed in fear he might lose his ability to talk if he looked at De Xi.
De Xi closed her eyes and controlled her overflowing emotions. She then asked them to leave with a wave of her hand. She fixed her gaze on her mobile, deep in thoughts, after few moments she picked up the mobile and dialled for a foreign number. The line connected but it was quiet at the other end for few moments.
“Apologies for the delay, Eva you suddenly called, what happened, it has always been me who contacted you and not the other way round” George Windsor’s casual and easygoing tone came through. “George where are you” De Xi asked in a calm tone but her voice broke at the end. “Eva, what is wrong” George asked his easygoing attitude evaporated and was now replaced with concern.
De Xi immediately broke up and started crying, the dam inside her eyes finally broke and she could no longer contain her emotions. “Eva.where are you right now” George asked in a coaxing tone, he was extremely worried and concerned about De Xi as it was rare for her to break down like this as she knew very well how to control her emotions.
“O-office” De Xi managed to answer him, the line disconnected and De Xi buried her face inside her palm and started sobbing very badly. If not for the soundproof walls in her office, her heart wrenching cries would have been heard throughout the floor. The office walls echoed her cries which slowly reduced to silent sobs.
The office door opened and George Windsor entered with his face full of worry and concern. He stopped other from informing and locked the office door from inside. He then quickly rushed to the table and kneeled beside De Xi’s chair as he slowly patted her back in a comforting manner. When De Xi finally calmed down he handed her tissues to wipe her face dry.
