De Xi who was oblivious to George Windsor’s thoughts simply let him pass without any complaints as she was in no mood to convince him to go in. She entered the house to be greeted by a full living room, everyone except her were present. She was glad that all of them were present tonight, so that she can meet everyone one last time before going away.

She sighed and masked her emotions with a calm facade, she smiled at everyone lightly as she entered the living room and entered everyone’s line of sight. “Xi’er you are finally here” Mother Lu said warmly as she asked De Xi to sit beside her. De Xi smiled and then sat beside Mother Lu without complaining.

“Apologies, I went to a Research Centre on the other side of the city, so I came back late” De Xi explained her reason quickly. The elders nodded in understanding and then resumed their talking quickly. “Xi’er, the work I promised is done now it is your turn to fulfill yours” Nan Xi said as she flashed De Xi a cheeky grin.

“Let me confirm it first, then it will be fulfilled as well” De Xi said calmly, her tone indifferent. Nan Xi nodded and sighed helplessly, everyone knew very well that when it comes to business De Xi never considered family and friends in it. As per her only profits and losses where there in business nothing more nothing less.

“Well then let’s go have dinner” Mother De and Mother Fang stood up as they ushered the maids to set the table quickly. Everyone stood up and headed towards the dining area, the younger woman were busy chatting and gossiping about different news. De Xi zoomed out for few moments until her shoulder was tapped to get her attention.

“Xi’er what are you thinking about” Chang Mei asked as she looked at De Xi in concern and worry. De Xi smiled and nodded indicating it as nothing, “You were saying something” De Xi asked calmly as she looked at Chang Mei. “Yes, the samples of the spring release came in today everything was satisfactory. Stop by the studio tomorrow and have a look” Chang Mei said softly.

De Xi nodded and smiled warmly, “I will but if I could not proceed with them, if you are satisfied then it should be fine. I have faith in your choice” De Xi said calmly, her tone sounded plain but her words meant a lot to Chang Mei. It was not easy to gain a praise from De Xi who hardly gave out any.

After dinner, De Xi excused herself and went upstairs to the floor where all the kids were fast asleep. She entered and found all the kids still stirring without being able to fall asleep, De Xi smiled softly and said, “How about I sing a lullaby for you all to fall asleep quickly” De Xi asked as she sat down on the soft bed which completely covered the floor inside the room.

All the kids immediately shot up from their places and reached De Xi in a blink with their pillows and blankets, making De Xi chuckled softly in amus.e.m.e.nt. All the kids laid their pillows near De Xi and lied down. De Xi started humming softly and then sang the lullaby they all listened since they were newborns.

After the lullaby ended De Xi wiped her tear filled eyes and rubbed her hand on her belly sorrowfully. She then made sure everyone was tucked in properly before slipping out of the room quietly, without making any sound which would disturb the fast asleep little angels inside. She then slowly closed the door of the room to restrict the noise from outside entering the room.
