Luna’s Journey - Chapter 5 Go Change Your Mind
I stood there in the hall as Jake glared at me if looks could kill I’ll be dead on the ground. I knew what he wanted to say but I would never give him the benefit of granting his wish. It felt like hours that we were looking at each other but finally Jake broke the silence.
“You, go and tell father you change your mind about going abroad.” He said with a sneer.
I almost laughed out loud at his words but kept my calm facade, looking at him I gave him a warm smile. “Older brother, father already made up his mind. Also, this is for my future why would I not wish to study abroad.”
Jake gave me a cold glare and walked toward me, when he was right in front of me he looked down at me with icy eyes. From the corner of my eye, I could see his fist was tightly clenched and if he could hit me he would.
“Sara, you should understand your place in this family. If you wish to survive then you should do your best and stay in a dark corner of the Wu family.” He whispered.
I looked in his cold eyes and gave an equally cold smile, “Older brother, I understand more than you know. I have a path to survive so your worry for me is not needed.” I gave him a cold smile and walked past him toward my room.
Just before I was out of hearing distance, “Older brother, in a month I’ll be leaving; until then I believe it’s best we have limited contact.” I warned him.
Jake hearing the underlying warning in Sara’s words turned around to yell at her but saw that she was already entering her room.
With a clenched jaw he glared at the direction she walked, he was angry that this unloved and annoying younger sister of his was gaining something so beneficial.
In my room, I relaxed on my bed with a huge smiled and felt the warm feeling in my heart. Soon I’ll have completed one of the wishes of Sara. I looked at the window and saw Momo on the ledge, letting her in she flew and landed on my shoulder.
“Misstress, I listened around and none of the family members are plotting to stop you from leaving. You will complete the original’s host goal very quickly.” Momo said with glee.
I looked at this happy bird and gave a smile. ‘I will only have granted one of the wishes but the other two will be difficult. Even if I separate from the family I must return to this country and in stories like this, I’ll happen upon Lily. Lily’s personality will never allow for Sara to be happy, I’ll have to think of a way around this problem.’ I mentally told Momo.
Momo gave me a sad look and flew to the bedpost, “Misstress, why must you return? You can start a new life anywhere why come back to the root of the problems?” Momo asked.
I sat on the bed and petted the white dove’s head, ‘Silly bird, if it was that easy I wouldn’t be needed in this world. The original host was a very good daughter, her heart will always be with her family; her family resides in this country and she could never bear to part.’ I told Momo as I laid down with my eyes closed.
‘Don’t worry, to have love and happiness everyone must deal with the hardships, but sometimes others need a helping hand. After fighting for others, I figured out this lesson and can only try my best on these missions.’ I said.
In another part of the manor, Lily was having a fit about the conversation at dinner and her father’s unwillingness to help her. In all her life she has been the apple in his eye but for Sara, he will give her a chance to study abroad.
While Lily was in the moment of breaking things she didn’t hear her brother enter her room. She was about to throw down a vase when it was taken out of her hands, turning she was about to yell but stopped when she saw her brother.
“Having a fit like a child will not get you anything.” Jake calmly told her while putting down the vase.
Lily had a frown on her face and sat on her bed, “Jake, how are you so calm? If our father really allows Sara to study abroad she will only gain more opportunity. I don’t wish to live a happy life, she should only survive by my word.”
Jake looked at his sister and wasn’t shocked by her cruel words, he understands her personality the best. When she was little she was always spoiled by himself and his parents and would always show-off in front of Sara. Now that Sara was gaining more opportunity to rise she would never allow such a thing.
Jake sat next to Lily on her bed and gave her look, “Let her go abroad to study, and while she is away to need to rise like a phoenix in the Wu family.”
Lily was shocked by her brother’s statement, “Even if I accomplish things here when Sara returns it will change how father views her and her position will change in the family.” She told him giving him a confused and frustrated look.
Jake gave his younger sister’s hand a squeeze, “Even if she returns, Sara will never have a place in the Wu family. Also, if she gets in our way I’ll personally make her regret trying to wish for more in this life.” Jake said.
Seeing Jake’s confident look Lily’s heart became calmer. ‘Jake is correct, in this life Sara will never be better than me.’ Lily thought with a smile.
Jake watched his sister face become calmer and knew she wouldn’t try to stop Sara from leaving. ‘Sara Wu, if you wish to leave then you shouldn’t return.’ Jake thought.
In Sara’s room, she was asleep as her companion watched over her, not knowing about the cruel thoughts of her siblings.
