Madtaks : Legend Of The Four Corners - Volume 3 Chapter 75
Sawsaw came close towards Chiko’s side and noticing the approaching player from behind, Chiko innocently smiled as greetings. Sawsaw frowned as he looked at Chiko’s smile.
“You might have been lucky to score against Santi a few days ago but I’m pretty sure it only boils down to you being lucky that time and Santi did not take you seriously at all,” Sawsaw said in a hostile tone while Chiko just smiled back. He actually did not know what to reply as he was not used to people threatening him.
“Today, I will erase that smile of yours with my roll spikes.” Sawsaw declared as he turned on his back and walked towards the service circle. The people watching this started whispering with each other in ridicule.
Chiko, Yang, and Gantes huddled together to discuss their positioning and game plan. Yang could not help but be bothered with Santi’s action a while ago.
“Yang, since you have the most experience with sepak takraw among us, I hope you do not mind to lead our team,” Chiko told Yang and the latter did not hesitate to nod.
“Does that mean I will be the team captain and Tekong?” Yang added.
“Yes. We will be depending on you heavily as I and Gantes are obviously beginners.”
“You can count on me,” Yang said with confidence. Despite the fact that he hasn’t played much in professional stages, he is confident in his sepak takraw skills due to his years of rigorous practice.
“What do I do?” Gantes asked Chiko. He has assumed Chiko to be the decision maker for this time.
“Gantes, since this is our first time, you will be the Left Forward and responsible as a feeder and I will be the setter which is also known as Right Forward. Yang will be responsible as the Tekong and spiker. Observe him well as we have a lot to learn from him. We do not have much time to practice so I guess we have to learn while we play.” Chiko told Gantes in a calm manner.
“So I will be the one who will throw the ball to Yang?” Gantes verified.
“Exactly. And we both are also responsible for the block as long as it’s possible for us. be careful not to touch the net though.”
Chiko’s team huddled and were pretty serious in their discussion. Their opposing team, on the other hand, is a team that has long been established and they each already knew their respective roles. They stood there relaxed with confident smiles in their faces. All of them wore Dark purple uniform with different numbers for each player. Sawsaw, as the team captain, has number four in his jersey. Daryn as the Left Forward has number five in his back while Miko as the Right Forward has number eight.
“Alright team, listen up!” Sawsaw, the team captain said, “Aim the ball towards the dopehead as much as possible. That guy is obviously their weakness. Let us show these chipmunks what a real professional sepak takraw team does!”
“Yeah!” Daryn said with brimming confidence.
“Let’s not give them a single score!” Miko added.
The five minutes spare time has finally ended and the referee walked to the middle of the stage. Suddenly, the referee pointed at the absent-minded looking Gantes.
“Are you still going to wear your uniform?” The referee asked as he pointed to Gantes.
“Can’t I just play with these uniform?” Gantes replied.
“You are here to play and not to study. I will disqualify your team if you can’t follow a simple rule.” The referee sternly said.
Gantes hesitantly removed his blue long-sleeved uniform and black long pants revealing his blue jersey pants, a white sleeveless for his upper and a body full of tribal tattoos that covered his chest, back and arms!
Mark has a body with bulging muscles and the tribal tattoo all over his body says a lot about his personality. After seeing his tattoo, the mocking faces of the nearby player suddenly dissapeared.
“Mr. Ricardo. This is the first step to fulfilling my promise to you.” Gantes muttered and looked at the bright blue star shining above. An action that never escaped Santi’s attention.
