Magical Girl Hero - CH 19
“Um, hello (good day). Nice night, isn’t it?”
The red-haired girl is wearing a combination of a crimson dress and a one-piece dress, which is more sexy rather than fancy compared to the other magical girls I’ve seen. A ribbon is wrapped around her arm, a cute charm point, and she wears a ring with a fiery jewel on the tip of her finger. Just like her outfit, she’s also tall enough to look good in it, and as a result, she’s a magical girl who should be evaluated as pretty or beautiful.
“Well, I was just trying to see if you needed some help. But it looks like you didn’t, sorry.”
“Ya sure was having a lot of fun, for that ain’t ya? That guy’s friend? Let’s have ya tell me more, yea.”
I’m not sure what happened, but it seems that there was a strange misunderstanding, No, well, it’s true that I was having fun, but I really was going to help if there was a pinch.
I made excuses in my mind though there was no way the other person could hear it, so the red magical girl put all her strength into her legs and jumped up to the roof where I was.
“No to violence!”
“I won’t do anything if ya behave yerself! If ya don’t want to be beaten up, answer my questions!”
I wish you would stop using such strong language, it’s scary you know. And the height difference makes it look like she’s blackmailing me. Also, it’s the first time I’ve had someone need to look down on me this much.
“Wha-what is it? It’s as of I’m bullying you! In the first place, it was ya all who tricked me! At the very least explain properly!”
I feel like we’re talking about different things, so I ask her for more details.
“I don’t quite understand but what do you mean you were tricked? I just came because I’m curious there is another magical girl that is fighting at this hour.”
“Oi, was that cry earlier a lie? No, well, whatever. Ahh, that’s right, you’re a magical girl, aren’t you…hahaha…”
What should I do? I thought she was a beautiful, foul-mouthed older sister in the main protagonist’s color, but she was unexpectedly weak and vulnerable to children’s tears, and now she is getting confused.
Also, of course, I’m a magical girl, what else can I be? No, well, there is also a hero.
“Onee-san, not a magical girl?”
“No, Onee-san is a magical girl…surely. Haah, there’s probably ain’t any point in talking to ya, but I was just a normal high school student until just now ya know. But ‘Wanderer’, a monster that I’ve heard a lot about recently, attacked me, and I made a wish on the spur of the moment. ‘Somebody help me, give me the power to defeat the monster.’ Then something that looked like a sakura-mochi appeared and told me that if I wished strongly to transform, I would be saved. I prayed so hard and I ended up like this…. The sakura-mochi disappeared, and before I knew it, I had a sword, and the monster was attacking me, why did I, become a magical girl…”
“You were a high school girl!? No wonder I thought you were a tall and beautiful woman. Besides, you were able to subdue the ‘Wanderer’ at your first try. I think it’s amazing. However, beings a high school girl and a magical girl is pretty rare. It’s the first time I heard it.”
Can a high school girl even become a magical girl? No, I don’t even know how wide definition of a little girl is, and the fact that I’m a magical girl in the first place already breaks that premise.
And the guy who looks like a sakura-mochi is probably the friend of the steamed bun beside me. I don’t think it’s a good idea to just turn someone into a magical girl and not give any explanation.
She can manipulate flames even without any knowledge of magic, so that’s probably her aptitude, and she also seems to have talent as a magical girl, but even so, that’s just too cruel.
“Is that so? I’m not familiar with magical girls, so I don’t know much about them, but a magical girl at this age ya know? It makes ya laugh right…”
“Age has nothing to do with being a hero!”
“Woah!? That surprised me… Don’t suddenly raise your voice. Well, certainly age doesn’t matter when it comes to defeating monsters, but it’s a magical girl, you know? I’m not even at the age where I can be called a little girl anymore. And i’s not like I’m longing for an anime-like existence like a magical girl. I’m grateful that I was given the power to defeat that monster, but I have no intention to continue becoming a magical girl.”
“I see. Such a waste…”
I think she should be happy because she got to be a Puella Magi, but well, that’s up to each person. But, since she just became a magical girl, it means she’s a stray magical girl who doesn’t belong anywhere. Should I encourage her to join the Magical Girl Committee.
I don’t really care if she’s a stray or a member of an organization, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to leave her whiteout any explanation.
“Mokyu. What do you think I should do in this case? Or rather, can a child who becomes a magical girl return back to normal?”
Although it was said that there are children who have quit being magical girls, I feel that the nuance was that they stopped using their powers rather than returning to being normal children.
“They can’t return back to being normal girls kyu~. If she loses her magical powers, she will naturally cease to be a magical girl, but it is very dangerous to intentionally make her lose her powers kyu~. Of course, being a magical girl does not mean that you are obligated to fight against the ‘Wanderer’, but a girl who is capable of becoming a magical girl will surely not be able to avoid using her power if someone in front of her asks for help kyu~. Even if she hides her power and lives as a normal child, she should acquire the minimum knowledge needed kyu~.”
“You sure caused such s troublesome thing, that sakura-mochi steamed bun…”
Well, this is something that the Magical Girl Committee should be worried about, not me.
I’m sorry that you can’t go back to being a normal child, but it’s not something I can sympathize with. Rather, to suddenly receive power in a pinch, that’s like a reward to me.
She can’t go back to your old life, but since she has become a magical girl, I have no choice but convinces this girl and hand her over to the Magical girl Committee. I can’t let her remain a stray like this.
“Oi, the heck ya doing mumbling alone…!? Ain’t like there’s a ghost there right!?”
As I was talking with Mokyu, the red girl’s tone of voice became rough again, as she gradually got back her composure.
For the first time, I noticed that apparently, no one else can see Mokyu. In other words, I’m the strange guy that’s always talking to the void. That’s really bad, isn’t it.
“Mokyu can show myself to people, or hide it kyu, If Mokyu always shows up and wanders around Roze, then people will found out that you’re a magical girl, so I usually hide myself kyu~.”
“Can’t you say it first before doing that!? You’re going to make other people look me with strange eyes, you know!”
I mean, is it possible that Sapphire thinks I’m crazy, too? Even though I’m a hero…
Anyway, if I don’t do something, even this girl will think I’m strange, so I have to clear up the misunderstanding as soon as possible.
“I was just talking to a spirit called Mokyu. I think the sakura-mochi, who made you into a magical girl, is a spirit of the same kind as this one.”
“A spirit? I’m getting more and more confused…. But if that sakura-mochi’s friends are there, then it will be quick. If ya can hear me, then hurry and turn me back!”
The red girl is furious and jumps on me and grabs me by the shoulder. She was so agitated that she couldn’t control her powers.
I want her to calm down because shaking me won’t do anything. Also, it is very dangerous to exert force during the transformation, if it weren’t me, the shoulder would be in pieces by now, so please stop it.
I lightly tap the arm that is grabbing me, and she realizes what she is doing and quickly releases her hand and backs away.
“I’m sorry, I just lost my temper… It seems like I have an easy to angry personality, so I have to be careful. I’m begging you, please don’t cry. I’m not good with that sort of thing…”
“I’m okay with it, but please be careful with little kids. From now on, you will probably have more opportunities to come in contact with children younger than yourself.”
“What do you mean by that. I already said I’m not going to be a magical girl, you know?”
“Once you become a magical girl, you can’t turn back. You can hide your power, but it’s dangerous if you don’t fully understand your power. That’s why I think you will need to attend a school for magical girls.”
“Are you kidding me? I Can’t turn back! With red hair like this! Wearing a dress like this!?”
“Ahh no, I mean if you cancel the transformation, you can return to your original form? Probably. However, since you can use magic, it’s dangerous if you don’t know anything about it. So, at the very least, you’ll have to learn about it.”
“Don’t say ‘maybe’ or ‘maybe not’ it makes me uneasy… Or are you not a magical girl? Dressed like that?”
“Well, I have my own reasons.”
I can’t go back to normal even if I cancel the transformation, and I’ve never been to a magical girl school or anything like that. Even still I can just ask Mokyu questions and mokyu will answer it, and stop me if it seems dangerous, it’s like having a personal teacher, so I have it easy.
However, the fairy who is supposed to give that kind of support to the child in front of me abandoned their jobs, and I don’t think there are many people you can talk to about magical girls.
If you think about it that way, it seems like it’s best to have her join the Magical Girl Committee. Though it may not be in accordance with her wishes.
At any rate, I would like to take her to the Magical Girl Committeee, but the problem is that I don’t know where it is, and I don’t know how to make an appointment either. I asked Mokyu about it, and Mokyu said that if I wish hard enough, the way to Magical Girl Committee will appear.
“I am a high school student! Why do I have to go to school with elementary and junior high school students!!”
There was no straw that she can cling to.
I know how you feel. I also don’t want to be treated like a tumor. Not knowing what’s going to happen, really makes you discouraged.
However, I need you to accept it.
One of my jobs is to do something about the stray magical girls. Of course, I respect the opinion of those who want to remain as a stray, and I’m willing to turn a blind eye to them. But that is only if they have the proper knowledge or have a fairy who can control them.
Although the girl in front of me has quite a quick temper, she’s not a bad girl at heart as she occasionally shows signs of concern for me. She’s also a high school student, and there’s very little concern about her common sense and morals, so in that sense, I feel the risk of misusing magic is low.
However, if I leave her as is and a problem arises, then I can’t help but feel like I’m responsible for that.
Not for the sake of the girl in front of me, but in order for me to feel comfortable continuing to be a hero, I will ask her to bend her opinion.
I was about to speak to her, while assuming that at worst I would have to persuade her by forces, when I heard a familiar voice from behind me.
“It’s you again. I rushed over, but there is always a shadow of you in the ‘Wanderer’ at night. Is the one next to you a friend? This time, you will listen to what I have to say right?”
Sapphire, a member of the Magical Girl Committee, has brought a acompanion to battle.
