Maiden Of The Splitting Moon - Chapter 723: Snot-Nosed Brat
Far from the scene, the carriage of the Tang Trading Group’s young master flew across the sky whilst the Muhou Troupe’s leader chased after it. Running through the meadows and flat grasslands, the carriage had nowhere to hide.
It was practically an easy target for the masked man who unleashed numerous throwing weapons at the carriage. On top of that, his other hand constantly moved in a chopping motion.
The space he aimed for would warp, twisting everything within it.
But the carriage was unaffected.
Even as it was caught in one of these attacks, it seemed to be protected through barriers and thick armor.
The vessel trembled and shuddered from the attacks, screams full of fear echoed out from within. Though, it would soon be replaced with nervous laughter.
“Ahahahahah! You can’t do anything to this carriage! Do you know how much time and money was spent on it? You can try all you want but you’ll never get past its defenses! Not even a Sky Realm Expert can get through it! That’s why it’s called the Indomitable Chariot!”
The young master revealed all of this quickly, perhaps hoping that it would deter the Muhou Troupe’s Leader.
The masked man stopped his barrage of attacks and sheathed his sword, a single-edged blade with no proper handguard or hilt. The grip was just cloth wrapped around it.
“Given up, have you?!” the young master asked.
But he soon realized otherwise.
His words did not discourage the Muhou Troupe’s Leader. Rather, it seemed like an invite to a challenge to the masked figure.
The masked man was silent, putting one hand on the sheath and the other on the cloth-wrapped grip.
On the next step, he leaned forward with his body nearly parallel to the ground. The space in which his foot touched the ground suddenly warped as he leaped forward.
“Aberrant Cut.”
Propelling himself towards the carriage, his blade hummed in a strange manner as his entire body seemingly twisted through, suddenly getting ahead of it.
At the same time, the carriage had stopped in its tracks. One could see that it was sliced in half horizontally though it wasn’t a straight cut. Rather, the attack was distorting the very shape of the carriage, causing it to bend and crack. And it wasn’t the only strike. The Muhou Troupe Leader began to warp in and out of sight, slicing through the carriage not once, twice, but dozens of times
Even then it didn’t break, at least not yet.
But with all this pressure, it could no longer move.
“Ahhhh! Wait, wait! I change my mind, please! I’ll give you the ring! Just please let me go!”
A pitiful voice cried out as the carriage door suddenly opened revealing the Young Master of the Tang Trading Group.
Holding the ring up, a handsome man dressed in lavish green robes and plenty of jewelry fearfully walked out. His hair was put in a bun and kept together with an azure hairpin.
With a face like his, he could swoon many hearts if not for the expression on his face. His eyes were full of fear and there was practically snot bubbling out of his nose.
“Here take it! I’ll give you the compensation and whatever else you want!” he cried out.
Standing by his so-called “Indomitable Chariot”, he was quite a pitiful sight.
The leader of the Muhou Troupe looked at him for a moment before putting his sword away. He walked forward, approaching the sad-looking man before reaching his arm out.
The crying face suddenly changed into a wicked grin as the carriage hummed to life. Arcs of lightning suddenly shot out and struck the masked man.
His body convulsed as he groaned in pain before falling to the ground. As the lightning coursed through him, it wrapped around his body, immobilizing the man.
“Ahahaha! Did you think I wouldn’t have any more tricks up my sleeve? Just because you managed to incapacitate the Indomitable Chariot, doesn’t mean you’ve gotten me yet!”
With that wicked grin on his face, he seemed less like a handsome man and more like a shrewd businessman. He gave off a conniving and crafty feeling, standing over the masked man.
His eyes then shifted towards the sword kicking it away from him.
And then he knelt down, looking at the man with a smile. With one hand still holding the ring, his other hand went towards the mask. Using just his pinky finger, it went between the mask and the Muhou Troupe Leader’s face before taking it off, revealing the man’s face.
“Oh, I was expecting a more intimidating face. Who knew that you’d look like this.”
He leaned in, studying the man’s face with interest.
The Muhou Troupe Leader’s appearance would be described with one word, innocent. His face was devoid of any scars or blemishes. His skin was of a cream-white color and his eyes were lovely. He had large golden pupils that somehow radiated warmth.
But his cold expression was a stark contrast to such features. He stared at the young master, not even taking a second to blink. With the lightning coils wrapped around him, he could not move nor could he speak. Even then, his eyes conveyed the message.
“Oh, such a scary look! Look at yourself, you can’t do anything to me. Ahahaha, what? Are you going to try to break free? Struggle until you give up? You won’t be able to do a damn thing to me.”
The young master slapped his cheek, taking delight in ridiculing the man he had been escaping from just recently.
Pulling his hand away, he took a knife out from the little sheath on his hip.
“Heh, by now both our men will have killed each other in the fight. I don’t even need to pay anyone to finish you guys off, I can finish the job myself!”
He raised the knife up haphazardly, aiming for the Muhou Troupe Leader’s neck, and then went for the kill.
“Hah, in the end, you’ve lost!”
The knife came down and the Muhou Troupe Leader prepared himself for his impending death.
He kept his eyes open, staring at the young master. But as the knife descended, something happened. Something hit the knife, changing its trajectory.
The grinning young master suddenly changed to a look of horror as he could not control where it went. And it was far too late for him to stop.
The knife missed the Muhou Troupe Leader’s neck and instead found itself embedded into the young master’s own thigh.
And he screamed out in pain.
“Agh!”
Letting go of the knife, he started to cry and scream, staring at the knife in shock.
“Wha- Ho-”
He couldn’t believe what had just happened, he couldn’t even understand how it happened. He just looked around trying to locate the cause of this.
Just as he turned around, he noticed a figure looming over him in the skies above. It slowly descended, revealing itself to be Ming Yue.
Having caught up to them, she saw the moment one was about to kill the other and stopped it. And upon a closer look, she saw the mask by the Muhou Troupe Leader and the ring in the hands of the Tang Trading Group’s Young Master.
Having seen her, that very young master had an indignant look on his face.
“Who are you?! Do you know who I am? I am Tang Bi Gan, the young master of the Tang Trading Group! Do you know what I can do to you for injuring me like this?! I will ruin you! You’ll be hunted for the rest of your life until you die at my hands! Yo-”
She suddenly moved Blood Moon, letting the edge just barely touch his neck. His crazed ranting swiftly came to an end.
Ming Yue just looked at him, furrowing her brows as she said something.
“Rather than a young master, you look like a snot-nosed brat ready to piss your pants.”
