Man With Many Faces - Volume 2: Chapter 4: Gyn And Shan
“Gyn, concentrate your energy upon your palm and then release it outside”
“I am trying, Shan sensei, butis this really what it takes to learn magic?”
Currently he was holding his hands in front of a flower, trying to use mana upon it.
The idea was for him to use mana in any form, depending on his affinity, some kind of an effect would be evident.
Shan was hoping that he would be able to use water magic, which was why she told him to concentrate his mana and try to conjure water.
If done right, he should be able to do this.
The lowest level spell, a type anyone who has mana could cast, level 1 spell.
This type of magic is called ordinary, in a sense, it was the basic of the basics.
“Concentrate upon your mana! Stiffening your hands and making toilet noises is not going to help you!”
“I am not making those kinds of noises, sensei!”
This was his fifth day trying, but still, there was nothing.
“Can you show me again, how it is done?”
“Concentrate your mana, convert it into water and then release it.” Shan proceeded to demonstrate by releasing a small stream of water from her hand, thus watering the flowers. “Try again.”
“I am starting to think I am not meant to use magic.”
“Then you are drawing too many conclusions instead of practicing, again!”
“Fine!”
In his frustration, Sabgyn proceeded to scream out loud when his latest attempt failed once again.
“Try again.”
“Just how many times do I gotta try until I find out for certain it is a dead end? I can’t Shan, I really, really, really, can’t!!!”
Sabgyn ended up lashing out with his right hand in direction of the flower, and in a moment, his hand ended up releasing a stream of water, but instead of being a gentle stream, it was razor sharp, ending up cutting the flower into pieces.
“Uhm, what was that?”
“Congratulation, Gyn.”
“Did I do that?” Sabgyn looked at the flower that was in pieces and then cried out “Yes, I did it! Way to go me! Yes! I feel on fire!”
“Gyn! Your left side!” Shan ended up crying out in alarm.
Roughly about ten seconds he managed to cast a water elemental spell with his right side, his left hand ended up catching fire.
“AAAAH! PUT ME OUT! Put me out! Somebody put me.”
Shan ended up unleashing a torrent of water at him with absolutely no hesitation.
“Level 4 spell: Water wave.”
It was not a spell designed to attack but originally it was used to drown unfortunate victims, but this time, it was used to give someone a shower.
“Sensei, wasn’t that a little excessive? I feel like a wet rat.”
“Don’t you mean wet rag?”
“That too”
Shan put her hand under her chin.
‘It seems what I suspected is true, he really did develop a mana disorder. That fire, it was no accident, his body ended up conjuring it without his intention. I see, so due to the imbalance in his body, when he used the water magic, the body restored the balance by conjuring an equal amount of fire magic. Interesting.’
“He has affinity for water magic, and he can access fire magic, albeit involuntarily. I wonder if he will be able to control this mana disorder if I train him further.Maybe at least he will not set himself on fire again
