Master Of The Immortal Heavens - 19 Bandit Base
Mist picked up the tracks of the bandits from the point he found them and began tracing them back. He was determined to discover their origins. He would spy it out and if it was too much for him, he would return to his father and get his help to take care of those bandits. He knew his father and the other hunters would be busy for a little while dealing with the conspiracy to capture their families. Scouting, planning, and trap making were all important skills for hunters. Mist was already the best in the village.
Using the Ghost Hunter Steps, Mist followed the tracks. After about two hours he found the base. There were several guards patrolling the perimeter of the base outside its stone walls. Mist found a spot in a tree and began to observe the base.
After watching from one position for a while, Mist moved his position to observe the base from another place. In the new position, he was able to get into an elevated position and look down into the base. From his Hunter bag, he pulled a simple telescope. The telescope was made of leather which rolled up and he fitted each side with a glass.
Mist was able to find several weak points in the patrols and hiding spots within the base. The next hurdle he would face when he got past the patrols were getting into the base itself. This would leave him exposed. Who knew what was in the base. Mist realized it would be foolish for him to go into the base.
This realization didn’t stop Mist. He was already aware of a few tricks he could use to bring the people in the base out. Fishing in his bag once more, Mist found a tube filled with a thick paste. Sneaking into the base he started smearing the paste on animals, buildings, and even people. No one knew he was there. The Ghost Hunter Steps were truly mystical. He could appear and disappear like vapor. His touch was so light no one noticed him.
After finishing with spreading the paste, Mist moved through the base and found a few areas where he could hide and placed a few arrows in those spots. After setting a few traps, Mist retreated back to the forest and took up his elevated spot to spy out the coming activity using his telescope.
After waiting for about twenty minutes, the sound of thunder erupted from the forest while the ground felt like it was going to split apart. Even Mist had to hold onto the branches in the tree for dear life. He almost fell out of the tree twice. Terrifying beast roars sounded out from the forest. By now, everyone in the interior of the base came out to see what was going on.
Seeing so many people flooding out of the base, Mist made his move back into the base. Everyone was still looking for the source of those terrifying beast roars. They failed to notice Mist’s little body flashing in and out of site while making his way to the hiding spots he found earlier. Mist recovered arrows at each location and lit, aimed, and fired them at the base. Moving swiftly from place to place, Mist had started small fires all over the base.
Even until this moment, no one noticed the base started burning. Mist returned to his hiding spot in the tree once again. By the time he reached his spot, he was able to see the fires suddenly blaze and the whole base started burning. Now, everyone saw the base was on fire. Everyone reacted quickly and gathered water and started throwing the water on the base.
It was at this time the spirit beasts came flooding out of the forests.
“Beast tide!” a man yelled.
Mist giggled quietly. Now it was time for the big show! No one could figure out why a beast tide suddenly broke out, no one except for Mist. Mist, after all, was the one who started the beast tide. The paste he speared around the base was a special ceremony. Its smell triggered a crazy desire for mating in the beasts. Flooding into the base, the spirit beasts were looking everywhere for their partners.
At first, no one could figure out what the spirit beasts were looking for. Finally, after one of the first large oxen was “attacked” by a spirit beast and let out a mournful sound they understood what was going on.
Their confusion didn’t go away, they were even more confused now. Why did these spirit beasts suddenly rush in here to mate? Initially, they believed the spirit beasts would only attack the other beasts. However, they were wrong. Suddenly many of the spirit beasts started targeting humans. The humans fled in complete terror. It was utter chaos in the base.
Four men appeared from somewhere. Mist didn’t notice them at first, but they immediately began to attack the spirit beasts. These men were really strong, they began cutting down some of the spirit beasts. The strongest was a man wearing a green outfit with armor. It seemed like the air obeyed his will as several spirit beasts were decapitated.
These were the leaders of the bandits’, Mist realized. This was what he was waiting for. Getting down from the tree, Mist got into a position from the forest to attack these four. The walls protecting the base were already knocked down so he didn’t need to stay in the tree to see into the base.
Taking his bow and arrow, Mist waited for the four men to get into position. The Black General was stealthy moving from one shadow to the next. Mist was impressed with his movements as they were a little similar to his Ghost Hunter Steps. Mist named them shadow steps as they seemed to move this guy from one shadow to the next. Watching this person, Mist was able to determine where he would step next and waited until the man got near a certain point. When he did, Mist shot an arrow and it cut a line which caused a net to spring up. As the net sprung up a powder also shot up covering the Black General. The net also closed and the Black General could only struggle with the net.
The Black General was getting more and more furious and then he heard it, a roar so blood-curdling it could steal the soul away instantly. The Black General froze as did the other spirit beasts. A beast the size of a small mountain charge out the forest, it was a Kyloxe Mountain King even larger than the one Elder Tok killed.
It’s eyes were red and steam was expelled from its nostrils. It’s gaze focused on the Black General. After a few moments, it charged right toward the Black General!
