Master Smith Under Ministry of National Defense - Chapter 100:
Master Smith Under Ministry of National Defense
100 – Not a Dividing Driver
Leviathan glanced at the toy on the far side of the deep sea, its red eyes flickering. It resembled what mortals called a ‘ship’. a toy half-broken and scattered with its contents strewn in all directions. It was being destructed so thoroughly that it was hard to believe it had dealt irreparable damage to Leviathan’s form just moments ago.
‘Was that attack just now all there was?’
It was trivial. Even with just a fraction of his power not yet fully restored, the opponent had suffered a blow nearing annihilation.
Though his rationality deemed the opponent almost incapacitated, his instinct warned that the fight was far from over.
‘Am I afraid? Me? Why?’
Indeed, the blow he had received moments ago was exceedingly powerful. Leviathan knew that delivering such a blow, overcoming the worst conditions of the deep sea, was no easy feat for a land creature. Moreover, the attack seemed to ignore the underwater environment completely, possessing a destructive force that could be seen on land.
Leviathan found himself more intrigued by the means that enabled such an attack than the attack itself piercing his body.
‘If one can attack underwater as if on land….’
In that moment, long-dormant memories spanning tens of thousands of years surfaced in Leviathan’s mind.
‘No way?!’
Despite thinking it couldn’t possibly be, Leviathan raised his head and looked in the direction of the Liberator.
And there, racing towards him at full speed, was a colossal robot twenty meters in size, emitting a horrified scream.
[Cain’s Legacy!!!!]
Encased in a shimmering force field that covered its entire body, the being rushed towards Leviathan at a terrifying speed, identical in appearance to the ‘Cain’s Legacy’ that had once rendered him lifeless in a battle in the distant cosmos.
[This can’t be! Cain’s Legacy was undoubtedly obliterated along with Cain himself!!]
Sensing the determination of this unfamiliar entity even underwater, Myung-Jun exerted more power on the controls he held. Then, facing the approaching Sea King, he shouted.
“And I’ve returned from hell to capture you all!”
At that moment, a dazzling light emanated from the device attached to the left arm of the Knight that Myung-Jun rode. Simultaneously, the seawater that had been pressing down with tremendous pressure began to recede in all directions as it was pushed back by the wall of light. Like a giant bubble bursting underwater, the dimensional bubble began to push seawater in all directions within a radius of 20km from Leviathan and the Knight ridden by Myung-Jun.
And finally, when the expansion of the bubble was complete, only Leviathan and Myung-Jun riding the Knight remained standing alone at its center.
<Battlefield creation complete. Time remaining until annihilation: 10 minutes>
Surprisingly, inside the battlefield created by Soo-jeong, there was also a floor made of dimensional walls.
As a result, Myung-Jun and Leviathan stood on the translucent floor, facing each other.
After briefly eyeing each other, Myung-Jun, maneuvering the Knight, threw the combat field generator attached to his left arm aside. Since its role was already fulfilled, it was advantageous to remove equipment that could hinder the battle.
With the equipment removed, Myung-Jun’s Knight, carrying a huge shield and sword on its back, grabbed the weapon, prompting Leviathan, who had been observing, to speak.
[Is it really Cain’s Legacy? Not an imitation?]
“Well, I’ve heard it’s real, but I can’t say for sure. This world is full of fakes, you know?”
[Damn. I suspected something happened when Banara suddenly disappeared, but I never thought it would be Cain’s Legacy.]
“Sorry, but as much as I’d like to chat, I’m a bit busy right now. So, let’s finish this quickly.”
As Myung-Jun rushed towards Leviathan after concluding their conversation while looking at the countdown displayed in the corner of the screen, Leviathan, realizing that he couldn’t avoid the battle, roared and charged towards Myung-Jun’s Knight.
A 30-meter tall giant robot with a catfish head, reminiscent of a medieval knight, and a 20-meter tall giant robot.
The confrontation in the spherical coliseum created in the depths of the sea, at a depth of 2,000 meters, was proceeding with even more intensity than the previous battle with Banara.
[Get lost!]
Leviathan unleashed the attack that had previously shattered the Liberator just before Myung-Jun’s Knight approached. However, the technique, which required water to unleash its full power, only managed to push back the Knight’s shield in the air, leaving it futile.
[Damn!]
Leviathan quickly tried to evade Myung-Jun’s attack, but Myung-Jun swung his sword towards the direction Leviathan was dodging as if anticipating his movements.
– Slash! –
At that moment, a chilling sound echoed within the dimensional bubble as a huge chunk of flesh was sliced off along with bones.
[Aargh! You’d be dead if this were underwater!]
“Then crawl back into the sea if you can’t handle it!”
Seeing Leviathan retreating, Myung-Jun summoned dozens of turrets with harpoons that he had used earlier to retrieve Ho-chang Abyss and fired all the harpoons simultaneously, piercing Leviathan’s body.
[Aargh!]
Leviathan’s body boasted durability tougher than any metal on Earth, but before the sword wielded by Myung-Jun’s Knight, it was being sliced through like butter.
Myung-Jun swung the sword.
It, too, was a newly designed weapon based on Cain’s schematics.
Annihilator Blade.
With its special energy field flowing along the blade, capable of destroying the atomic bonds of matter itself, Leviathan’s bones and muscles, compressed with tremendous density, were of no use against the sword.
One slash, one chunk of flesh.
However, despite Myung-Jun’s overwhelming equipment advantage, the battle between the two did not progress as Myung-Jun dominating Leviathan.
As Leviathan, covered in blood, endured the relentless onslaught, every time he unleashed a ferocious counterattack, pieces of armor from Myung-Jun’s Knight would fall off.
In the midst of their frenzied exchange of blows, Leviathan realized that Myung-Jun’s attacks were solely focused on offense, disregarding defense entirely.
It was as if facing a parent’s vengeance.
“[Aargh! Is this mad mortal planning to die here with me?!]
“Damn fish head! Even if I have a grudge against you, you will die here!”
[What kind of grudge could you possibly hold against me to unleash such insane attacks!?]
“Grudge???”
At that moment, Myung-Jun, who had halted his furious consecutive attacks, pointed towards the back where the Liberator was floating underwater as if cheering.
[That thing? You’re doing all this over a single broken toy?]
“That toy is the most cherished possession of the person I love. And inside it were the most precious people to me, and you touched it when you shouldn’t have!”
[This is war! Fighting over a lover’s trifle in a fight for the fate of the stars! Humans are inferior creatures swayed by emotions!]
“Call me a romanticist! Damn fish head!”
Myung-Jun unleashed another series of enraged attacks, not just attacking with the Knight, but also summoning numerous turrets simultaneously, showcasing an overwhelming firepower.
Against such relentless assaults, Leviathan, having lost his shield of the deep sea, was simply unable to retaliate.
A moment later.
With about 2 minutes left on the battlefield’s duration, Leviathan, covered in blood and battered all over, was breathing heavily.
And before him, also in a somewhat messy state but relatively intact compared to Leviathan, the Knight looked down at the fallen Leviathan, covered in blood.
If this were a fight between organisms, their damages could be considered similar.
However, the blood spilled by the Knight was Leviathan’s, and Myung-Jun inside remained unscathed by even the slightest damage.
A battle between a creature that must endure all damage with its own body and a human who can let tools take the damage instead.
It’s needless to say which side has the advantage in a situation where both suffer the same damage.
Eventually, Leviathan came to realize firsthand why Cain had such a notorious reputation in the battle that took place tens of thousands of years ago.
‘Damn, his abilities to face opponents are truly like a beast.’
Leviathan looked at Myung-Jun’s Knight, raising his sword to deliver the finishing blow, and raised his hand with all his might.
Then, with an urgent voice, he shouted,
[Wait! Just a moment!]
Stopping his sword, Myung-Jun turned to Leviathan and said,
“Planning to leave a last will before dying?”
[Surrender. Join the side of humans.]
“What!???”
[If you have Cain’s Legacy, you should know. My main body is in another universe. So even if you kill my physical form here, it won’t annihilate me. Eventually, I’ll recover and return to this planet. Although Banara was defeated not long ago, we outnumber you.]
“I know. Twelve Heavenly Lords, so there must be 12 of you.”
[Anyway, you’re the only one who can face a Lord-level opponent on this planet alone, right? A fight of 12 against 1 would be extremely disadvantageous. If you spare me, I’ll be on your side. Then it will be 11 against 2. Not a bad deal, right?]
“Weren’t you beings who acted on orders? Why betray now? Why?”
[Because I like this planet.]
Leviathan said,
[There aren’t many planets with such a splendid ocean. Some planets have their entire seas trapped under ice, or they are filled with polluted water to the point where you can’t breathe. But this planet is different. If you allow me, I’ll stand on the side of humans and protect the sea.]
While saying that, Leviathan had different thoughts in his mind.
Regardless, if he could delay a little longer, this dreadful dimensional bubble would disappear, and the deep sea would return to its place.
If that happened, no matter how much of Cain’s Legacy, he could win.
Thinking that, Leviathan looked up at the Knight in front of him.
With moist eyes characteristic of marine animals, devoid of any hint of hostility.
However, waiting for such Leviathan was Myung-Jun’s finishing blow, devoid of any hesitation.
– Swoosh –
Cutting off Leviathan’s head as he pleaded for mercy, Myung-Jun let out a deep sigh.
And looking at Leviathan’s eyes, filled with astonishment, lying on the ground, he said,
“Sorry. It’s a decent offer, but I’m in a bit of a hurry to make a decision right now. I need to repair the toy you smashed, and I need materials too. So, for now, just take a break. You said you’ll resurrect anyway? When you resurrect and come back with the same thought, I’ll consider it then.”
Hearing Myung-Jun’s words, who treated him, the ruler of the outer universe, as mere material, Leviathan felt a rage like no other and said with all his might.
As this entity conveyed its will not through vocal cords but through a telepathic-like form, even if its head was cut off from the neck, there was no problem in delivering its intentions.
Leviathan’s anguished cry was being clearly transmitted to the ears of the crew members on the Liberator, riding on top of the crumbling dimensional bubble.
[This damn human bastard… ]
It was a pitiful lament left by Leviathan, the ruler of countless stars made of seas, one of the twelve absolute rulers dominating the outer universe and the sea-based sovereign who could swallow mountains in a single gulp.
