Matchmaking Baby Sister - Chapter 4
Chapter 4 – Strange atmosphere
TL: Zimming
Lucinda held me as I nodded excitedly.
“Children this age are usually susceptible to every changes.”
I was so fascinated with Tessa’s looks that I almost forgot to bargain.
“Mama, mama, mama!”
“Ariel.”
Tessa frowned as I cried anxiously for Lucinda.
He was only frowning, but he looked really scary, even though I knew now that Tessa would treat me well because of Llyod.
“Mama!”
Then, Lucinda hugged me tightly as if she was going to protect me. Even though Lucinda was shaking, her gaze was still fierce. Tessa’s green eyes stared at Lucinda. After staring at her after a while, Tessa raised his hands and took a step back. That means that he was not going to pressure her.
“I’ve already heard what your family went through. You ended up raising a baby all by yourself.”
“It’s nothing much. Ariel is my only family after all.”
“The same goes for me.”
I was the only family left that Tessa had in this world.
There was a moment of silence between us. Tessa was the one who broke the ice.
“My name is Tessa.”
“I, I see Your Majesty.”
When she heard the name, she couldn’t deny it anymore. Lucinda hurriedly bent her knees and tried to bow. By pressing Lucinda’s forehead with one of his fingers, Tessa stopped her from bowing.
“Just introduce yourself, who are you?”
“……I’m Lucinda.”
Lucinda answered with a face full of fear. Tessa only shrugged and turned around. Langrisser looked at me and sniffed, then gracefully followed Tessa from behind.
I looked at Tessa with a blank expression.
“Papa?”
Excuse me, uncle? Are you going to go alone? What about me?
“Hello. I am Baroness Edith, one of His Majesty’s five assistants.”
It was one of the many people who followed my uncle to visit this house. I thought she was a man because she had short hair and was wearing pants, but when I looked at her closely, she was a woman with short hair.
“Then, Miss Lucinda, why don’t you come with us to take care of the baby? I promise you the best treatment.”
“What? That, that….”
It’s working!
Lucinda seemed surprised and I grinned at the suggestion.
‘Finally, we’re out of this terrible poverty!’
From now on, call me Amelia, the only princess in this country. Thinking about that, I laughed.
I was so happy that I babbled nonsense.
“Pa, pa, papa!”
“Ariel…”
The word “Papa” came out because I was so excited and had a slip of the tongue. But the babbling was misunderstood by Lucinda.
“You must’ve missed your dad, Ariel.”
Lucinda felt sorry for me for losing my mother. But now that she knows I can’t see my dad forever, she pity me even more.
After some time, she eventually nodded.
“Yes, I will come with her. But if the environment is considered harmful to Ariel, promise me you’ll let us go back immediately.”
“Don’t worry.”
Baroness Edith smiled brightly as she watched Lucinda, who was worried about my safety.
She opened our old, narrow door and said with confidence.
“It will never happen.”
Outside the door, dozens of knights lined up with shining armor. Lucinda, who saw them became stiff.
* * *
[We found Princess Amelia Illuminas, the only daughter of former emperor Lloyd!]
It was news that shook the empire and its surrounding country. No matter how sudden Lloyd’s death was, there was only one reason why Tessa was able to sit on the throne.
In order to become an emperor, he had to be able to contact his familiar. It was something exclusive to the Illuminas family. Among Lloyd’s numerous younger brothers, Tessa was the only one who could contact a familiar.
In other words, there was no one who could seize the throne except for him.
‘Then if Tessa Illuminas died, I would be able to obtain the throne.’
“Could the princess contact her familiar?.
“The knights who were there saw a twinkling light around her.”
Then, I suddenly came to the picture. Because I was still a one-year-old baby, it wasn’t really clear whether I could contact my familiar or not, but Tessa directly acknowledged that I could do it.
“But, if the emperor gets married and has children, the princess will be left with nowhere to go.”
“I guess we could only wait and see.”
Many people were interested in Amelia.
* * *
I became known as the only princess of this country earlier than intended. I entered the Imperial Palace in the arms of Lucinda and was immediately guided to my palace.
“This is the Pen Orchid Palace where the child will live.”
“Wow.”
Pen Orchid Palace got its name because the red patterns on the white walls look like orchids.
‘My life has turned around!’
I was delighted that my fate had changed.
But Lucinda wasn’t excited like I was. It was as if she still couldn’t believe everything that happened.
She was born and raised as a commoner, of course che had never thought this could happen.
“Ariel, is this a dream….”
After she said those words, the servants looked at her as if they were looking down at her.
“Mama.”
I patted Lucinda on the shoulder.
Lucinda was startled. Then, we went into the palace with the guide of a maid. Passing through the huge door, we could see the inside of the imperial palace, the interior was even more luxurious than I expected. I opened my mouth wide and said with admiration
“Waaa….”
Not only the walls but also the ceilings were beautiful with intricate murals. The wide floor was also made of marble.
Dozens of servants lined up to greet us.
And now all the maids and servants who had to serve me at this Pen Orchid Palace were lined up in two rows. Among them, the only woman in a different uniform walked over lightly and bowed her back to me.
“Hello. I’m Fenrir, who will serve you. I’m not good enough, but I look forward to serving you, child.”
“Abuu.”
Mrs. Fenrir.
I greeted her with a big smile. Despite my bright smile, she stared at me with a cold face.
‘Ah…she must be a tough nut to crack.’
It was the first time I’d seen anyone act so coldly even after I gave them a big smile.
I pouted my lips and dug deeper into Lucinda’s arms. Mrs. Fenrir turned around and began to walk with her upright posture. Lucinda hugged me and followed her. This is the dining room, this is the auditorium, this is the study…
After guiding us through countless rooms, the place we stopped at was my bedroom. In addition to a bed with a wide canopy, there was also an area full of cushions and a mountain of toys. After telling me to rest here now, Mrs. Fenrir said,
“His Majesty has ordered us to pay special attention to you, but we are still lacking. If you’re uncomfortable with anything, please understand and let us know at any time, child.”
The maids went out all at once after Mrs. Fenrir went out. As I looked at the closed door, I suddenly realized.
‘Wait, why didn’t they talk to Lucinda?’
Her words were all directed at me, but nothing towards Lucinda. Lucinda’s face became grim when she realized that, just like me.
“Mama?”
I tilted my head and looked at Lucinda.
I looked at her as she smiled brightly, though her face was still pale.
“Ariel, auntie is fine.”
A soft hand patted my back. And she put me down to the floor. I could feel the soft carpet on my feet.
“I never thought my brother-in-law would be the Emperor.”
Listening to Lucinda’s voice, I crawled on the floor. Pupu, who came out on its own, flew around the room waving its tail as if it was enjoying it.
[Wow, this place is really nice. It’s all thanks to me.]
I glanced at the cat who was looking at me arrogantly. Then I continued crawling a little more. It took a long time to get to the wall with the window.
[What are you doing? Are you excercising? Well, my master is chubby.]
‘What are you saying! Other babies are chubbier than me.’
[Just accept the reality.]
‘That obnoxious cat!’ Pupu was always like that, so I just ignored him.
I groaned and sat with my back against the wall, I could see how big the room is at once.
‘Wow, how do people clean this huge room?’
The huge room was larger than the entire garden of the house where Lucinda and I lived together. The bed was big enough for three more people besides me and Lucinda.
I scrutinized the room. There was not a single dust on the floor.
‘Wow, they’ve done a great job cleaning’
I was still scrutinizing my surroundings, then, I could hear my aunt’s voice.
“I’m glad, Ariel. You don’t have to suffer anymore.”
“Mama?”
I turned to Lucinda. But the room was too big, and I couldn’t see Lucinda’s expression.
* * *
After a good night’s sleep, I went to the dressing room attached to the Pen Orchid Palace with Lucinda.
The wardrobe that was high up to the ceiling was filled with colorful clothes.
After looking through it, my aunt chose a top with a pink ribbon with a white trousers that were easy to move around.
“Wow, you look so cute.”
I think it’s a good choice, but Mrs. Fenrir, who was watching Lucinda, gave Lucinda a scolding after she was done dressing me up.
“If you pull the clothes like that, it’ll rip.”
“Uh…”
Lucinda was panicking. Lucinda wasn’t a weak person, but she seemed to be scared of Mrs. Fenrir, who had an air of noble.
“Abu!!” (Mrs. Fenrir)
“Yes, child?”
She replied to me politely. Angry at the sight, I protested by pouting my lips.
‘Why are you speaking so harshly to Lucinda?’
I wanted to say that, but the only thing that came out of my mouth was a nonsensical blabber.
“Abu! Abbbb, Abu!”
Ugh, that was the best a one year old baby could do.
Why is it so hard to even speak? I let out a sigh. Then Pupu, who was flying at the corner of the room, patted its belly and laughed.
[Lucinda is a commoner, and Mrs. Fenrir is a Countess, so it’s natural for her to speak harshly towards Lucinda.]
‘Yes, you’re smart.’ I pouted my lips. Then, Mrs. Fenrir continued,
“There is nothing more you can do for her because she will have the best babysitter and teacher now. As soon as the child adapted to this place, you will receive an abundant reward. It would be good for the child too.”
“What?”
That was something me and Lucinda never imagined.
