Meeting Again - 36 Locking horns
My eyes widen at Robbie’s voice. Did Robbie forgot that my heat was not over yet? True, that I have taken my heat suppressant but that doesn’t changes anything. He is more susceptible to it. He will still be affected.
Fred finally let go of me and eyed the new arrival with his mouth slightly open. I understood the reason for his surprise when I looked at Robbie. He was wearing a mask covering his nose and mouth. His hair was falling over his forehead, he looked a little out of breath and there was a thin line of sweat near his grey eye. His messy look took me by surprise too. He was always obsessed about his grooming and looks.
“Who are you?” Fred asked, narrowing his eyes
“Get your hands off of him and then we are talking” Robbie said acidly
“And what if I don’t?” Fred answered raising his eyebrow
Robbie glared. Fred was not phased. He scrutinized him from top to bottom and then his eyes locked on Robbie’s eyes. I could see realization dawning on his face. But then his face turned dark,
“Hah! The so-called bonded Alpha! Finally, I get to see you” he said in a mocking voice
“What are you doing here” I asked, interfaring. Before this two Alphas start locking horns, I wanted to diffuse the situation.
Robbie looked at me blinking, “How can you allow any random people inside your house?”
“He is no random person, he is my friend. I have known him since I came to this city and I trust him” I answered patiently. I don’t know what was Robbie’s deal, but I am not about let him insult Fred.
Fred was delighted by my reply. Robbie on the hand looked both shocked and angry.
“I think I should stay a little longer as this guy looks dangerous to me and Champ is in the house too” Fred mocked
“He is my son and Tony is bonded to me. The one interfaring is you” Robbie hissed
“Wow broh, you have some guts to be proclaiming Tony and Champ to be yours. Where was this possessiveness and affection when you threw them away to beg on the streets? Where were you when Champ almost died because of starvation?” Fred said, his face turning red with fury
Robbie flinched at Fred’s words. He couldn’t answer to that. He merely glared at Fred. But I could detect a tinge of sadness and guilt lingering in his eyes. I was done. Both of them were arguing over me like I was some property. I said breaking there back and forth,
“ENOUGH!!” both of them looked at me, I turned to Fred, “I believe you have work to do. You should leave now. I ll call you later”
“But-” Fred said looking worriedly at Robbie.
“Robbie, I don’t think it’s a good time for you to be here. I believe you haven’t forgotten about yesterday” I said turning to him
Fred seemed to remember something and glared at Robbie again. Both looked extremely reluctant to leave.
“I have something to talk to you” Robbie said abruptly
I bit my lips. This was not the best of time. I was worried that he might again lose it. I said decisively,
“For a few days, I believe it is in both of our best interest to keep distance”
“But it’s important” Robbie insisted
“Woah broh! Stop forcing. Don’t you see he isn’t interested. And dude you should have some self awareness. You know it well that his pheromones affect you only”
“I believe I was talking to Tony and not you. Why don’t you leave?” Robbie threw back glowering at him
“Being his well wisher, I find it necessary to keep him safe from potential dangers” Fred hissed back
I sighed. What was with both of them? I could totally image two growling huskies going at each other. In fact, they really have moved closer to each other. I came in between and put my hand on both of their chest pushing them back from each other. I saw Robbie immediately turn his head away. I put my hand down and moved back from him. I said looking at both of them,
“Stop already! Fred, you can leave! I can handle the rest” I said gesturing Fred to leave
Fred looked at me anxiously. I looked back at him firmly. He sighed and finally nodded saying, “Fine. If you say so. But are you sure everything will be fine?”
“Yes” I said strongly
“Ok then” he said eyeing Robbie, who was not looking at him any longer, “if you are in trouble, call me, I ll be here as quickly as possible”
I nodded. Fred has always been a good friend. I smiled at him and waved. He left waving at me. Then, I turned to Robbie who was adjusting his mask,
“I don’t think we can talk with you always trying to hold your breath” I said
“I ll be fine. For the last two weeks whenever we have met, we have either argued or gotten in a…well awkward situation. But I now want to have proper talk with you”
“Haaahhh! If your so stubborn, then come. But if you lose it like last time, am kicking you out and your not coming back here” I warned him
He looked relieved and nodded. Though, I can’t see his mouth, I knew, he was smiling. I wondered which side of Robbie is true. The one I saw in high school or the one when he rejected me or the one am seeing now or all of it! But no matter what, even I want to talk to him and clear all my doubts and my convoluted feelings for him, once and for all!
