Meeting Again - 38 Action
“When I first came to Warham, I had limited money with me. No shelter, no food, no job, no clothes and after few days, no money either. Twen starved for three days and I honestly thought I would lose him. I begged around in the street but hardly anyone helped. It was then that I met Fred!” I said, remembering the horrid memories of my first few months in the city.
Robbie’s eyes widen at the mention of Fred. I could hear him grit his teeth but he said nothing and let me continue.
“I could immediately tell from his scent that he was an Alpha. I didn’t know his intention and frankly I didn’t care any more. As long as he was ready to pay me so that I can feed Twen, I was prepared to do anything, even submit myself to him too. I could only think that what use is this Omega body if it can’t even save my Twen. But to my surprise, he actually just wanted me to do household chores and in return, he was ready to give me food and I could stay at his place. He also helped me get a job as a cook in his father’s resturant. I owed him a lot and didn’t know, how I would ever pay him back. Then something happened, something totally beyond my expectations, Fred developed feelings for me”
Robbie’s hand tightened on my hand. His eyes got shrunk in anxiousness. I could tell he was tensed. Being so close to me, if his emotions are not calm, my scent will overwhelm him. So, I gently untangled my hand and walked towards the couch. He didn’t follow. Apparently, he understood my intention. I turned to him and continued,
“But when his father discovered it, he lost it. He didn’t want his precious son to be with a…a dirty thing like me. He thought, I seduced his son. But Fred was not phased. He stood up for me and went as far as to say that he would have bonded with me had I not been bonded already”
Robbie stared at me motionless. There was a slight curiousity in his eyes now. He was clearly intrigued that where my story was leading to. I looked straight at his eyes and said the words that I always denied to myself,
“That day was the first and only time in this many years that I wished I was not bonded to you. I wished to be bonded to Fred”
I could see Robbie’s expression changing as fast as lightening. There was suppressed fear and constraint in his eyes. He clutched his fist tightly to the point his knuckles turned white. The stress became very obvious in his face. I sighed and continued,
“It was not because I loved Fred, it was because of what he did. I couldn’t help thinking that had he been my Alpha, I didn’t have to be in such a miserable condition. A guy who was prepared to stand for me even against his own, who was not afraid to fight for his love and the one he loves. I could see his care for me in his actions. He knew everything about me and yet, he was ready to accept all”
“Why are you telling me this?” Robbie said in a trembling voice, unable to keep it in any longer
“My purpose was not to anger you or make you uncomfortable but simply to tell you that words alone doesn’t shows your care and sincerity, it needs to be followed by action. Words can be deceptive but when it is followed by an action only then can their worth and truth be revealed”
Robbie was clever. He didn’t need clarification. He got the point instantly. In other words, I told him to prove his words to me only then can I trust him again and give him a second chance. Robbie looked down at his feet and nodded.
“I will make you believe in me again” then he abruptly raised his head and asked as if not able to hold it in any longer, “Do you still harbour such thinking about Fred?”
I looked at his worried expression and laughed before answering, “That was just a momentary thought which passed. I felt selfish to have such thoughts. I didn’t wanted to repay his kindness by breaking his familial relationship. Just like you didn’t want to ruin your friend’s life by marrying her without having any feelings for her, similarly, I didn’t want to ruin Fred’s life by being glued to him when I knew that I can’t even reciprocate his feelings. So, I left!” I said seeing Robbie’s muscles relaxing. He breathed out in relief.
I took the cups and plates on the table and walked to the kitchen and placed them in the sink. Robbie slowly crept up behind me and wrapped his hand round my waist. He rested his head on my shoulder. I didn’t stop him, though, I was nervous from the closeness. Even through his mask, I felt the heat of his mouth.
“Loving me has only shown you terrible days. If I had the courage like your friend, then you would have been with me and my son would have known me as his dad. But my mum told me that regretting will not change anything. I will make myself worthy of your love and Twen’s recognition. One day you will glad that we met again” Robbie murmured
I didn’t say anything and we stood there in silence for sometime. It was an odd feeling. I didn’t know what it was, just couldn’t put my finger on it but it was warm!
