Memories Of The Sun - Chapter 25 Chapter Twenty Four
Chapter B
I sent the kids to their grandpa with a note ‘I know what you didThank you… Vanessa.’
It’s been fifteen months since I started working at Gava. I pretended for the first month that I didn’t know it was my company, until I got sick of being sent for everything. Things of newbies are really exhausting. Ofcousre the flaw highlighter could send me ceaselessly. I was right, the bitch didn’t like me at all.
“Vanny, bring my coffee from the cafeteria”
“Okay Jenny.” As I was set to go, she stopped me.
“Oh Vanny, wait!”
“Yes?”
“I buy my coffee three blocks down the cafeteria… Not that one across. Don’t take long please!” And that did it.
I was done, I had had enough. I went to Gava and told him to step down. He raised his brows pretending not to understand but I wasn’t in the mood. My husband had the office restructured and repainted in my favorite colours and I was the boss.
However I had Sam made a new office which was actually better and everyone else. And now, things at work are just perfect! We are a family! We are really growing big! We are hiring by the way!
My God mother accompanied the kids to the mansion. Eleanor and Louis love their grandpa like crazy. He tells them fun stories. It reminds of those days he read me some when I cried for mommy. Before he was obssesed with money and marrying me off to the lunatic.
Speaking of the lunatic. Ashanti visited him recently and he was bent out of shape. He was hardly recognizable but remorseful. He losing himself slowly…
As time goes by, I learn to forgive, am forgiving my dad slowly. Maybe Evans too, one day.
Wounds heal with time, that’s what I needed. With my dad, a lot has really changed. We even discuss my marriage. I recently asked him to stop overworking my husband and he told me to take over. Okay, that shut me up!
Besides that, my dad is really great with the twins, on every Christmas, he dresses as Santa. Eleanor doesn’t do anything before Santa comes. Santa brings them gifts, sweets, biscuits… She even refuses to eat before Santa. Last year, I pleaded with her to eat breakfast.
“I want Santa mommy”
“Santa will come over if you eat… Please baby”
“I want Santa!” she crossed her arms and bit her lower lip. That’s her ultimatum.
“Baby, okay take a bite…. Open up… There we go… Good girl… Come on… Don’t make Mommy sad… Open up… Good girlI love you baby”
My prince loves Santa for one thing, gifts… They play video games together, with Papa.. He says Santa is really cool. I’m glad they think my dad is cool. What a transformation.
“Mommy Santa bought me a plane and a car… Plus these new controllers.” I hug him.
“I love you honey” I kiss him.
Having them at my dad’s now, I hope they really have a great. Because am planning to have it too.
Today is my husband’s birthday, he is making thirty five. And he still the same perfection I fell in love with. He is in DR Congo right now, but he will be landing in two hours.
I set everything in place. I wanted to celebrate this one with him… Him and I alone. Simeon has always refused to celebrate his birthdaysthe last time I prepared something, he spent the whole day sleeping, I just had to wake him up to cut the cake. When he was done, he went back to his sleep. Is this what all men do, or it’s just my dog?
Jonny is dropping him off. I had to make up an excuse to set everything in place. I booked this amazing space at Hotel Silvana. It’s basically a king room with a king sized bed, with really oversized and comfortable mattresses. It has a large screen, a tiled shower with bath tab combination. The most spectacular part is the cozy gas fire place which provides it with deem light. And of course the French doors leading out the balcony with a pool down, giving it a breathtaking view.
I hear a rumbling sound outside. He is here. I hope he likes it. No really exaggerated decorations… Men love it simple!
I hurriedly meet with him wrapping my legs and arms around him.
“I missed you” I kiss him. When he puts me down, I direct him inside. He wants to ask questions but I don’t let him. Shut up baby!
The table is set with red petals and a two layer chocolate cake with a raspberry filling, covered in chocolate buttercream and topped with chocolate ganache. Next to it is, champagne and a ‘happy note.’ He turns to me.
“Baby!” delivers a small laugh. “Baby this is too much you know… You didn’t have to”
“Happy birthday… Do you like it?”
“Yes, I love it”
“Come on” I hold his hand.
We sip whisky with slow music in the background as we get tangled. We lay on the bed naked, after.
“What did you wish?”
“What I wish for everyday. To make you happy, be the best dad, husband.. Son in law! More life with you, my babies, Dalia, everyone.”I look up to him. I hand him an envelope.
“What’s in here?”
“Birthday gift maybe”
“Babe I don’t like gifts you know.”
“Open it… Come on” I tear it open. There’s a letter.
He is speechless when he reads it. Say something baby!
“Oh my God baby… Your kidding?”
“No it’s real ” He embraces me.
“You make the happiest man on earth”
He passes his fingers on my belly, drawing little circles. He kisses me so hard.
“And I think it’s a boy.” He kisses me the more.
